Was not impressed - I booked a table for 7, 3 weeks before the date. Was told on arrival that they were not doing food because of an electrical fault that happened on Monday. Another of our party arrived late and was greeted by people sitting eating. I think probably they had over booked. There was no notification beforehand. As new management I would have thought they would encourage people to visit. We won't be eating there again.

Items missing from roast dinner. Staff knew they had run out but never said. Ie lemon and tarragon stuffing. Chicken was not “roast chicken” and it was dry. Potatoes were not roasted. Gravy was instant gravy. Veg was ok. Won’t come again

was suprised how quiet it was,waitress showed us to our table,we had booked in advanced as previously we have been disappointed as it was full,waitress was very attentive.Food arrived in reasonable time,hot,(plates had been warmed,a pet peeve of mine,)enjoyable. couldnt manage a dessert as portions were more than ample.over all a very pleasent experience. would return.

We have been to the Pickering Arms at least six times. It is at the halfway point between my friends and I, so it is ideally placed to meet for a meal. In the past, we have only had good experiences all around. However the last couple of times we have noticed a fall-off in the quality of the food. On the last visit, only one person out of the four of us was fully satisfied with their main meal - a burger. Two of the others did not really enjoy the meals as presented and one person returned their meal to a rather rude chef. The returned meal consisted of gammon which was far too salty and tough. One of the other meals, the trout, had vegetables on the menu but it only came with cabbage, also it had roast potatoes instead of the sautee potatoes on the menu. All in all a disappointing meal.

We were disappointed as we had previously had a good experience. The beef was stringy and the service was very slow. We were in the reataurant 3 hours. My chicken was tender and was good. The yorkshires were crispy and not homemade. We had to wait 15 mins for our drinks and had finished the meal so the wine was not drank with the meal. I believe there has been a changer of management. The lady before was excellent.

Lovely to see ‘The Pick’ full to bursting with a real buzz - great food (slow cooked lamb shoulder shepherd’s pie is a must) friendly, welcoming service and a reasonable bill at the end - will be back!

Lovely village pub. Extensive menu with much variety. Delicious food. Very pleasant professional staff.

The staff here are so lovely, it was extremely busy in the restaurant, they held it all together with a smile. The food was delicious, there was a longer wait than usual as it was super busy. The food was hot and well presented, the chef did a good job and must’ve been rushed off their feet. 100% we will be going here again the Sunday roast was so good, good vegetarian option too.
