We had great service by our waitress & others that were helping out. All our food choices were delicious. I had the troffie with pesto & it tasted just like my Nonni’s.

The salmon special was absolutely delicious as was the gluten-free pasta with sauce. My fried calamari was like cardboard. I’ve had it before here and it was delicious, but this was just dry and tasteless. I didn’t eat the whole thing at all. The lemon tart dessert was fabulous as was the chocolate lovers dessert.

I had Mother’s Day brunch outdoors, and it was perfect. The awning blocked the sun and yet we had a fresh comfortable breeze. Food and service were excellent.

Always delicious food and great service. A little pricy but worth it. New menu with good fish dishes and everyone now has steak on their menu. Pastas always excellent.Pizzas good too. Reasonable wines, many by the bottle or glass.

My brother was visiting from Colorado and I wanted him to experience some excellent Italian food and the first place that popped into my head was Piazza 1909. Our time there and our dinner could not have been better. I had the Bistecca Toscana al Tartufo. It was amazing, The Black Truffle sauce was over the top in flavor. I told my brother to go with the Branzino as it is one of my favorites here. He did and he is still talking about. All in all it was a perfect time and dinner. Will be going back again real soon. This is a must stop if you are visiting the San Diego area. I am fortunate to live here so I am to go often.

I’ve been dining at 1909 regularly for more than 4 years and it’s a great meal and experience every time. Tonight’s fish of the day option (I chose salmon) was prepared and cooked deliciously. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Always a great experience and the food always is fantastic. The service is always attentive and does a great job. No matter which day we come everything is consistent and love their authentic Italian cuisine here.

Wonderfully unique and tasty Italian fare with a twist. This is the neighborhood go-to place so get reservations. It is a bit funky in an older house but they updated their patio sitting which goes from the front to the side and onto a covered “backyard.” The spaghetti with squid ink and scallops is outstanding. Servers are hard working and smart.

My favorite spot in San Diego! Food, service and ambiance terrific. I always get Penne Vegano which is a vegetarian “meat sauce” made of chopped walnuts and pistachios in a delicious tomato sauce.

I was hoping the food was as good as the website. The calamari was dry and not edible. The short ribs we fatty. The risotto was a little gloppy. Sorry.

The food is about equivalent to what you’d expect in an upscale restaurant. Creamy, tasty, healthy portion sizes, $$$. The service was abysmal. Took ~10 mins after we sat down for our waitress to come over and take our order. Our dinner came 5 mins before our appetizer. Our waitress was nowhere to be seen until we asked for the check. We had to wait another 5 mins for Parmesan after my wife getting her pasta plate. The tomato bisque on the focaccia bread is a little sweet. The salmon with stuffed crab was delicious, but the vegetable dressing on top overpowers the dish and doesn’t complement the lemon. Overall, this was a two-star experience for a four star price, so we went with a 3, and that’s being generous. They had a ton of wait staff, but we were mostly ignored over bigger parties. We were thrown in this little room on the side with a few smaller tables when there were much nicer areas of the restaurant available.

This is our second time eating brunch there and it was again outstanding. We are from out of town, but always try to go here when we are visiting our daughter at UCSD. I highly recommend the California omelette and also the pumpkin spice pancakes. Delicious and great service.

We have eaten both inside and on the front patio and preferred the patio. But we come for the food and outstanding service and would eat on the curb if need be!!!

We came here for dinner before a comedy show down the road, and were SO glad we did! As a Celiac, I’m always hesitant to try new “gluten free” items/places, but these guys make their own GF dough in house and the pizza was outstanding. Happy to say, next day and I’m not ill, so we will happily be back to try the numerous other GF options on their menu.

It was a very busy holiday Saturday night and yet the food was delicious. The service would have improved with more hands on deck. The friendly waitress really had her hands full but still was friendly and accommodating. The wine ordered with dinner came out after most at the table were done with their mains.

Delicious food, lovely wine list with nice price range, excellent service with careful accommodation for a family member with celiac disease. Adorned with twinkle lights throughout, Piazza’s ambience is delightful. And sheltered patio areas of varying sizes with good heat lamps make for comfort, privacy and reasonable noise levels. This is our family’s number one go-to place in La Jolla!

We had a great experience at Piazza 1909. The food was delicious and authentic Northern Italian. Service was great as well and I enjoyed seeing the pasta being hand-made right there. Will definitely be back.
