Food was very good and enjoyable. Ambiance included music from the pool area, which proved to be enjoyable but could be a risk. Service was great. Overall excellent experience.

My wife and I spent her birthday weekend at the Vespera Resort in Pismo Beach. The hotel is fabulous and we loved it. Since I travel a lot, I will rarely eat at a hotel restaurant, because normally the prices are higher and the food mediocre. We prefer privately owned restaurants where the owner is present and offers top of the line service. With that in mind, our first night there we reluctantly booked a reservation at Pequin, expecting an expensive but so-so experience. We were very happy to find that it was one of the best meals we have had in a long time, and we dine out frequently. We had perhaps one of the best salads accompanied by a Pork Chop as a main course that was sliced and among the best I have had. The service was terrific. Across the board, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Pequin and were very happy. The hotel in general was very well run, the folks were responsive and friendly. From check in to room service and especially the restaurant were terrific. It is amazing what good sound management can do when they surround themselves with quality can do staff. We will return, keep up the good work.

Great service and ambiance! We enjoyed the enchiladas and pork chop entrees at our window table while listening to live music! I enjoyed a mocktail which my husband had a nice glass of wine!

Staff was very courteous, but our NYE dinner went different than expected. Host initially couldn’t find me on the reservation list, then seated us at the patio (had reserved standard, inside). No problem, we like sitting outside and further away from music band who were setting up. After putting in our order of drinks, appetizer, mains and sides, manager came over to check our name. Indeed there was a mix-up in seating but we could stay, it was theirs to solve. Also courteous. Sides and one main course (cauliflower steak) were served before our appetizer (oysters on shell). When we asked about the oysters, they said they would bring them as well. We requested the oysters to be served first as appetizer, then the rest. Great oysters by the way! The cauliflower steak was almost an entire head of cauliflower, we usually would eat this amount together. Scallops were good. Final note: We were seated next to the patio gate. When guests left the patio, most of them seemed to expect it would close automatically, causing extra draft (it was chilly, even with heater on). Maybe hang a reminder sign to close door when leaving?

We came on Christmas Day. Our reservation was for 7:45pm and we were seated an hour later. Once seated they did advise the kitchen was backed up and was going to take about an hour to an hour and a half for our food. At the point we waited so long we stayed. I wish we were notified when checking in with the hostess about the wait. Our waiter was very pushy and kept offering us to order cocktails. I wish we were offered a complimentary beverage or bread to hold us over. We ordered a salad as an appetizer in hopes it would come out fast and it did but it just sat on the counter waiting for our server to get it. It wasn’t until I mentioned it to her and she grabbed it.

The whole staff was great, but Donna was absolutely amazing. Such a kind and generous person and so on top of everything! The food was great and we were able to sit back and enjoy our Christmas dinner because of her!
