In 1992, thrown together on Cape Cod by political circumstances none of them could have predicted, four young Yugoslavs founded Pain D'Avignon.Their goal was to recreate the Old World Traditions using baking techniques and recipes barely changed in centuries. Their founding principle: fine breads deserve to be at the center of the dining experience, not a mere afterthought. At their Hyannis bakery, the timeless art of bread making is both revered and respected. Everyday salt, flour and filtered water are combined – like the bakers themselves – with a distinctly European flavor.

Very nice dinner - delicious food! Very nice touch with the loaf of fresh bread when you leave after dinner. Prices seem to have increased quite a bit!

This is a lovely restaurant. The lighting was dim & there was soft music in the background. I ordered the Baked Oysters & PDA Salad. For drinks, I ordered the Passionfruit & Lime Fizz mocktail & a virgin Lovely Lady cocktail. Everything was delicious & they sent me home with a lovely loaf of bread. My server, Enrique, was very attentive & kind. I appreciate that this restaurant allows reservations for one person & didn’t pressure me to sit at the bar like other restaurants do. The only critique I have of this restaurant is that the chairs at the low top tables are a bit uncomfortable. The parking lot was full, so I had to park across the street at another establishment.

Excellent food - fresh and creative dishes, representing every food group, exceptionally plated. I started with Escargot, then the Lamb Chops, with a side of spinach. My wife had the Baked Oysters followed by the Salmon dish. We both finished with profiteroles, or cream puffs. All food absolutely divine, as good as anything you’ll find on Cape Cod. Added entertainment benefit of watching the bakers work their magic through large window. Be prepared to spend $50-75 pp pre-tax/tip, without drinks/wine. Innovative cocktail menu and substantial wine selection. Friendly service was mostly attentive and prompt, except that our waitress forgot to present the specials to us. Ran low on water a couple times. Plenty of parking. Easy access not far from airport.

We always make a point to have brunch at Pain D’Avignon when we visit the area. Delicious food, prepared in an elegant manner. Service staff is friendly and efficient. Very pleasant surroundings and we make sure to purchase some of their superb baked goods to take home with us.

This was our first visit in several months and the first time having brunch. What a disappointment. We've heard that the brunch at Pain D'Avignon was the best on the Cape so we decided to bring a friend and see. The room was very crowded and noisy. The staff was already stressed and it was only 11:30. We waited 45 minutes to get our food while four other tables were seated after us and received their meals. Someone dropped a glass of water on the floor and it took the staff 15 minutes to clean it up. The food was very mediocre. The Galette Complet was particlarly bad. I'm sorry that this place has declined so dramatically over the last months. It will be a long time before we return.

The food was tasty but the portions were very small. Salad choices were slim with no real salad selection. Good customers are willing to pay the higher prices but don't have us leave less than full. Pain restaurant could be great but not paying attention to the important stuff. Servers were great and we will wait and give it another shot. Please consider!

Not what I remember this fine restaurant as. Food was dissapointing. Had a Risotto that was more liker boiled rice . Beet salad was " mashed " beets. Prices very high. Service slow. Acoustics bad.

I was nervous the portion size would be too small; I was wrong. My salmon dish was outstanding; my waiter was well trained. So many nice touches!

Two of us had a delicious meal at Pain D’Avignon. We both had the Classic French roast chicken with baby potatoes and a cress salad. Nothing fancy, just delicious. We split the Bibb salad to start which was dressed to perfection and crispy shallots. Also simple and delicious. Oh and of course the bread!!! You get to leave with a mini baguette each as a bonus. The wait staff are attentive but not invasive and an absolute pleasure. PAD is probably my favorite restaurant on the Cape.

The food was spectacular as usual! ❤️ My only complaint was that we were seated close to an EXTREMELY noisy group of diners, who had no consideration of the neighboring diners or self-awareness of their boorish behavior! The waiters should be trained to look for such situations and either politely intervene or reseat people! I also love the complimentary loaves of bread at the end of the meal! We will be coming back again because we love it. Just try and manage the obnoxiously noisy customers.

Lovely food - the highest quality on the Cape. There was a jazz band - that night - nice music. Fabulous and fascinating to be able to watch the bakers next door bake baguettes. They also give everyone some fresh bread as you leave. This is my favorite restaurant here.

We have always loved Pain D'Avignon but last night's dinner was a disappointment. We asked to be seated at a quieter table but turns out the restaurant had a jazz band setting up very noisily and distracting so we asked to move to a table near the bar. The server got stuck bringing sandwiches and drinks to the band so we ordered with someone else. The music was way too loud and overbearing. My husband had the lobster pasta and I had the cod. Both were under seasoned and bland, the French Onion soup was ok not great and the steak tartare also under seasoned. Our meal was definitely not up the the more than $200 bill. The staff is lovely and nice but the atmosphere and food were lacking. We might give it one more try but overall very underwhelmed.
