Standing out from the crowd, our 400-seater restaurant is housed in a grand Grade II listed building featuring a distinct neoclassical Greek façade and mixes an industrial look with a touch of opulence inside. Opera Grill brings theatre on a grand scale to Chester. At the heart of our menu is the theatre charcoal grill and wood-burning ovens, inspired by revered chefs and restaurants from around the world. The entertainment continues in a first-floor Music Gallery featuring a stage set for live acts every Friday, and a mix of soulful classics performed by our gospel choir every Sunday.
The distinctive spaces in Opera Grill are all available for hire for meetings, conferences and special events with bespoke menus and entertainment packages.

    Waited nearly 30 mins to be seated to our table The table was ready when we arrived so unsure what the hold up was, no explenation was given . The only reason why we were eventually seated was because we had to get up and ask what was going on, and got then got the impression we were forgotten about . Sat next to the enterance with the door open so very windy . Very small portion sizes .

    Having not been to Opera Grill for a long time, we were keen to go. Despite being a race day, downstairs was really quiet so we opted to go upstairs to the conservatory which was lovely. All three of us ordered from the set lunch menu and the food was generally fine apart from my friend's steak frites which she was unable to finish due to the meat being too hard and chewy. She spoke to the waitress who arranged for it to be taken off the bill. This was welcomed however we were disappointed that her starter had been charged at the main menu rate. My sticky toffee dessert was a little dry and chewy at the edges but edible. Overall the experience was quite good but would expect products to be cooked properly given the prices and the competition from other restaurants in Chester.

    Excellent service. Delicious food. Very attentive , friendly waitress. All meals inc starters, main and sweet were delicious. Tastiest lamb I’ve had in a long time. Venison was perfect and the boys loved the T bone. Sweets looked very home made and unique. Cheese board was really good.

    The new menu was incredible! Tamara took our table and she was lovely, she really looked after us! The food was delicious, the champagne was flowing, and the staff were great as always! See you all again soon! Thank you everyone!

    I took my husband and our family to Opera Grill Chester for my husbands 50th birthday meal which was noted on the reservation - for what purpose I don’t know because it wasn’t mentioned at all when arrived. They took our order whilst the choir was on - which was challenging as we had to shout over it and couldn’t really enjoy it - we arrived well within time so they could have taken our order before then. We asked for 2 steaks med-rare and they were far too well done - the worst steak I’ve actually ever had. We asked for salt and had to remind the waitress after waiting 15 mins and then another 10 mins for her to fetch it - when it arrived the waitress gave us 2 lots of pepper. I am honestly appalled at the service and the food - I refused to pay the service charge and they told me they took 1 of the inedible steaks of the total food bill. I’m really upset about it all as it was my husbands 50th birthday meal and we were looking forward to it and it was honestly appalling. We won’t get that day back again either.

    Thank you to all the staff at Opera Grill for helping to celebrate my sons birthday and for all the help and support from Emily in the arrangements. We were upgraded to the Music Lounge and provided the 2 course menu with a great variety of options for all. Food was great and the venue itself is excellent thanks all.

    First time we have dined at Opera and we were not disappointed. We only had main courses, Tikka bass, can honestly say the nicest fish dish we think we’ve ever had and the fries were divine! The house salad was very fresh and vibrant but we felt over priced. Welcoming for our 9 year old daughter too, which was great. Her cheeseburger was very nice and she ate it all. Followed by a sundae. One thing we found a little annoying was that multiple staff were looking after the same area so we were asked more than once for the same thing and then other things forgotten as the other server thought that the other member of staff had already sorted. Quite pricey but top class food, great selection of drinks, fab atmosphere, would definitely like to return if we are in the area.
