The service was poor still waiting for a waitress to serve us, looked our way but never came near table. If it wasn't for the bar man who noticed we were waiting we would have left without food. Thankfully we skipped a starter and ordered our main course, fish and chips, Macaroni cheese and steak pie no complaints however the chicken burger was cold and had to be sent back was back within minutes still not hot probably pinged in microwave. The rest of the night went downhill, our plates sat on our table waiting to be removed, we asked one of the two waitresses for a dessert menu and to remove plates, told us she would be back, that never happened. Bar man eventually removed plates and gave us dessert menu. We asked her again for dessert menu when she passed our table she said she would be back shortly didn'thappen. Waitress to busy chatting to customers at one specific table after 45 minutes we gave up and left. Bar man apologised when we asked for bill it was not his fault.

Nice surroundings, quiet in the bar area, which is where we had lunch. Good service and the food quality was decent, we had a nice Caesars Salad and a Margarita Pizza. Good value and we were served at a nice relaxed pace for lunch.

Value for money poor, paid by gift voucher which needed change, amount of change rounded down with no explanation. Overcharged and final bill has to be changed.

Minimum interaction with staff. We weren’t told about Sunday roast however we had read it online and therefore asked about it. There was nothing about this on the menu we were given either When we asked, the staff member said they would go and check them came back to tell us what the roast choice was. We ordered one lamb and one chicken and they were fine. Not much green veg and too many potatoes but for the price was anazing good value

Second time I’ve visited in the last few weeks and have been disappointed both times . Very basic none of the lovely garnishes with their sandwiches.

Took 2.30 hours to serve 4 people. Other tables also complained of being forgotten and at one stage, the hotel receptionist was drafted in to help out. Ironically, the bar was quiet on the night we visited. The only thing which wasn’t slow was the speed in processing our payment of the bill. Needless to say, we won’t be back.

Kaz, the girl who served us, was excellent! So friendly and helpful, giving us suggestions on what to order and feedback if she had tried anything. All of our party thought the food was delicious and enjoyed it very much. The only disappointment was it didn’t have much of a Christmas feel about the restaurant, which would have made having Christmas lunch a bit more special! However it didn’t ruin the day. A suggestion for management. Update your payment system to accept gratuity for staff! Not everyone carries cash!

Food was okay but thought it was on the pricey side for what we got. I especially didn’t think that the senior saver menu was good value. Would be much better having a smaller portion menu. Waited some time to be seated and then to be offered drinks. Food came in a reasonable timeframe.

Dined in this resturant on sat night , ordered a sirloin steak to be cooked rare to med , it was cooked as i asked but couldnt chew it , it was a very tough cut of meat .my partner had the fish and chips which was lovely . The desserts werent like their decription , ordered a sundae , it was just ok, my partner had sticky toffee which was too dry to eat .

My first visit to OpenTable at the Hilcroft Hotel in Whitburn. Food was very good and service was quick and efficient. All requests were carried out exactly as asked.

Stayed one night at the hilcroft and decided to eat in the hotel restaurant it’s your usual pub grub was all very nice and tasty with great service

We (3 of us) dined on a Thursday which was the curry special night. So we each opted for a curry however every curry was way too hot and spicy for us. This was disappointing. Dessert was ok except the cream was not fresh cream which spoilt the dish.

Food was not for me or my family we had fish and chips x2 stake, kids macaroni, kids chicken nuggets and lentil soup x2 and a prawn cocktail the fish had no taste at all the prawn cocktail came with a spicy sause instead of seafood sause if was for my 8 year old daughter the macaroni cheese omg was just vile soup was OK to be fair and the chicken nuggets were fine the stake was OK git it medium bugbig was very chewy the service was OK the young waiter was very kind but the girl who cam in was over the top of us while we were trying to eat she was actually staying on mine any my man feet and taking glasses and plates away when we wernt finished but sad we won't be back

On arrival at our table we were given menus and drinks order placed. The food we ordered arrived quickly between each course and was absolutely delicious, consisting of pakoras, steak, burger, sundae and cheesecake. The choice on the menu was varied and priced reasonably. Considering a wedding was taking place and the traffic outside, the venue was quiet. This is our favourite venue as we held our wedding there four years ago. Highly recommend welcoming friendly staff and excellent service and food, what more could you want right on your doorstep, so support your local hospitality. We enjoyed our evening.

Service hasn’t been great passed few times I’ve been in. Not busy but having to ask for a drink after being in 20mins, ask for menus, ask what soup is etc… Some of the food burnt also. Was ok but not the standard I’m used to at hilcroft after dining here for many years. Not cheap so wouldn’t rush back. I do however enjoy a lunch, BLTs etc are always good. My daughter did enjoy playing in the play room which is back opened also. I would recommend to friends for a lunch but not a main meal.

We asked to go in the conservatory area which was not a problem. Chairs and table were not set up but that was okay. They were very short staffed, one member said she would come back to us as had a large table in but I had to go get her 45 min later. The staff were trying their best but were struggling with only 2 waitresses in. I would recommend as staff were trying the best we were lucky we were not in a rush.

Overall an excellent restaurant. The good was super and choice on menu was very good. Especially the gluten free . Would say it was best gluten free I have had. If I had a gripe it would be that waiting staff could show a little more interest they seemed happy to stand around talking among them selves as we had to ask barman to get out Bill

Food was awful , inedible. Fish was greasy , the chips undercooked burger made of some manufactured meat poor quaility looked like compressed cardboard . Really gone downhill menu options poor and written on poor quality paper . Portion control tight as are all other issues cheap paper , small paper napkins - so sad Staff member who dealt with my request to have skin on chips replaced was excellent.

The food was awful and overpriced. Seems like mich of it is frozen and reheated. The service was worse. Very inexperienced staff on duty and service was extremely slow. Had to ask for the table to be cleared and for more drinks / desserts etc. Took 3 staff members around 10 minutes to get our bill as they didn't know how to void a bottle of wine we cancelled because it took so long to come that we had no time left to drink it. Such a shame as it used to be a great place to go. Won't be back.
