Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.

Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Oma’s serves dinner accompanied by a seasonal list of hand-crafted cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

Good food. Fusion style was well done but kept some authenticity. Wish there was more of an extensive menu.

My elderly mother, my sister and I really enjoyed our experience at Oma's Hideaway. The server was very helpful, letting us know about allergens and spice level and describing the dishes to us. We had the corn fritters, The Wonton me, and a few other dishes. The food was all yummy and very interesting flavors, especially for my mom who comes from a small town.

Food was delicious. I am still thinking about the Raita salad, the shrimp and the durian ice cream. I want to get back ASAP. Back patio is warm, secluded and fun; this is listed as heated patio in their reservations.

The food and service was excellent. A member of our party has egg allergy and the server brought a menu that listed all the egg free options. Our only complaint was the noise level. The disco music was fun but very loud.

Great menu of eclectic and delicious dishes to share. It’s a party from start to finish, topped off with awesome 90s country. They made my birthday seem special, would love to go back!
