Créé en 1868, le steakhouse classique Old Homestead Steakhouse de Gotham est situé dans le quartier ultra chic de Meat Packing. The steak I had for the first time in New York was so delicious. The quality of the meat was good and the service was good. The conversation humour that is very nice is also enjoyable.

Food was fantastic. Employees are friendly but to affectionted to the customers. I was eating my meal and employee talked to me while I was cheewing my food. As per our opinion a gratuity of 18% not worth. We wanted to give 20.00 USD gratuity and the employee said that this is less than 18% and they suggest to give 18%. Then we gave them their 18% but its very rude to expect such things from customer. Its our decision if service is 18% worth or not. Never again :)

We were excited to bring our out of town friend to old homestead since she wanted a New York steak house experience. While the food was pretty good our waiter was the worst. He was no help in discussing wine and when I asked about a sommelier he said he was the person to talk to. Then when I asked about a particular wine he pointed to the iPad and told me to click on the description. When we asked him what he recommended on the extensive steak menu he said “anything”. He was surly and awkward and the service was just awful. It definitely marred what we hoped would have been a lovely experience.

Food was amazing. Service was even better. Ask for Henry. His recommendations were on point. Best crab cake in the USA.

The service staff were so nice and accommodating and helped us salvage some of our anniversary dinner. I had heard from several people that this was a good steak place. Sadly, the steak was not that edible. There was no seasoning on the steak. We had gotten one and had to send it back because we couldn’t eat it. We got another and it was barely edible. The only good things we had were the lobster mac and cheese and the creamed spinach. I would definitely not recommend it if you are a steak lover.

We went this past Saturday for my husband's birthday. The food was delicious, but the "service" we received from our server was terrible. We waited 15-20 mins before being acknowledged after were were seated. We had to flag down the waiter, despite seeing him service all of the tables around us. It felt as if we were being profiled, because the people of a lighter hue around us seemed to receive great service. During the wait multiple servers passed us and never acknowledged us. We put in our drinks and then had to flag down the waiter again to put our food in. The waiter never came back to make sure our food came out ok and never made sure our steaks were cooked correctly. My steak was slightly overcooked, but still tasty. The server never came back our our entire meal. We had to keep flagging down other staff. He never came back to offer dessert (again it was my husband's bday). We flagged down another server to get our server for the bill and he finally came back to drop off the check. I used to be a server in college, so my husband and I always tip more than 20%. Needless to say, that night the waiter received a note explaining our dissatisfaction and a very low tip. Again, the food was great, but the service took this from 5 stars to 3 stars at best for me. I would recommend that the establishment treat all customers equally if they want to be tipped their recommended 18-20% gratuity. We spent close to $500 that night. Had we received appropriate service we would have probably added to the bill by ordering dessert and we would have tipped very well. It is sad that the good food was overshadowed by lack luster service.
