Créé en 1868, le steakhouse classique Old Homestead Steakhouse de Gotham est situé dans le quartier ultra chic de Meat Packing. As a New Yorker I always wanted to go to old homestead. I finally did and what a disappointment. I can’t remember having a worst steak than that. It was not only tasteless it was inedible. Not seasoned at all. Asked for Maldon salt to add they brought me regular salt. If I could ask for my money back I would. Don’t waste your time and money. Leave this place for the tourists

This is the BEST steakhouse in NYC. Again, we had another fabulous dinner there tonight. Our server, Henry, is a true professional. We always enjoy his dedication to his customers and the restaurant. The meal was outstanding. French onion soup, the WEDGE and Prime Rib; everything was absolutely PERFECT. And, their coffee is so fresh. We are loyal customers and truly love Old Homestead. Thank you again!

I took my wife here for her birthday. I left instructions for a piece of cake with a candle. It was unnoticed by the reception person. My waiter was ok. The manager said I’m sorry. For these prices, someone should be awake. Now, to the food. I was just OK. I’ve had better. I caution others that there are way better steak houses in New York. Especially with staff that cn read directions.

Was a nice vibe. Our water was very good and personable. All the food was very good. But th Caesar salad was a little bland for the price. And there could have been a little bit more mozzarella in the caprese for the what we paid. Steaks were awesome and so was the desert. Will def come back again and try some other things

As my first New York fancy restaurant experience I was disappointed. They “forgot” our salad course. Then I ordered asparagus that had no seasoning. All the sauces were bland. The steak was good and when they brought the wedge salad that was good but I was expecting more from the $250 dollars I spent.

Attentive service in a cozy atmosphere. Food was good too. Issue for me was that a family (3 generations) was seated nearby and it was difficult for my companion and I to hear each other over the boisterous and nonstop conversation between the mom and the child. Was not expecting that.

This has been my go-to steakhouse since I moved to the city 20 years ago. Best value for the quality of the steak, best prime rib in the city, and, friendliest, classiest, and non-stuck-up staff in general.

An "OK" experience in every aspect. Had spent lots of time researching the wine list from their website...to then be given a completely different (and far inferior) list at the table. Ordered a '19 Napa Cab Sauv and was brought a '21. Shrimps and calamari to start was very tasty. Sharing porterhouse and filet mignon were great pieces of meat but overcooked-asked for med rare but definitely med at least. Sides were good. Didn't have room for dessert. Nothing bad about the experience but suspect there are dozens of better options.

Lots of great steak/meat and a la carte side options. Good portions. Fresh cuts of meat. Service was really good. Staff professional, friendly, and attentive. Definitely will go back. Prices not cheap, but hey, it’s the city and the food and service largely made the value appropriate.

I love the fact that this place is very old...historic...and appropriately, in the Meatpacking District. ;-) Decor is very old-school...classic steakhouse. Service was very good...attentive...without being overly-intrusive. We got a filet mignon (very good...had a teeny bit of fat..but that's to be expected I suppose). The potato that came with it was good...nothing spectacular. My friend got a kobe burger. It sure looked very good, from what I could see. I tried her fries. They were ok...nothing great. Got a side of asparagus and it was cooked perfectly.

For the price you are paying for the food and trying to enjoy a nice evening out - not everyone at this restaurant feels the same and the staff do little to address it. There was a young child watching a cartoon on an iPad next to us in full volume.

Excellent as always for our 1-2 times a year trip from MA. This time we had Nelson who was great! Food was top notch. We all got fillets. French onion is the best! Hope to be back soon!!!

Steak was not worth the hype at ALLL!! There sides were wayyyy better than there steak. We had their porterhouse and 40 day age steak and it was not good at all. I’ve had better steak at salt grass. This place is a joke

I hadn’t been there in a while and, frankly, was a little wary. I feared it might be resting on its laurels. An icon, not really a restaurant. Man, was I wrong. This is as good a restaurant of its kind in New York, and I say that as a native Manhattanite and as someone who has been to and enjoyed all of the more celebrated and trendy names that serve similar dishes. The various steaks, especially the ribeye, were extraordinary (right word). Everyone in our foodie group of eight felt that way, and we felt the same about the asparagus—cooked expertly—the cream spinach and the potatoes. Just a great night that wasn’t overpriced. We will all be regulars there. Bravo to the service, too. Lone qualms: They need to add some better medium-priced wines to their list. It’s just too ordinary. We brought three bottles of our own—each was excellent and ran around $25 per—and paid the hefty $45 per bottle corking fee and it was worth it. And they need to offer full cakes for celebrations. We brought a small birthday cake from Whole Foods (delicious) and paid the $10 per plate fee. However, if they had been able to tell me they had a cake that they could do with writing for, say, $125 or a little more (ours worked out to $105), I would have happily said yes. We needed a full cake. Individual pieces wouldn’t have made it. Small stuff. Here’s to an icon that’s also a great restaurant.

I read mixed reviews about the old Homestead steakhouse and was hesitant to go, but I am so glad I did. The food was fantastic! The service was wonderful, and the food was scrumptious! Definitely will be back!

This place needs to dim their lighting! Good setup, prime location, great food and staff, poor atmosphere. Turn off the tv, turn down the lights, and turn on some light music and this place would be a 10/10.
