The cuisine at Oh Lala! is a refreshing change from that of other, more conventional restaurants. Guests are treated like good old friends in a relaxing atmosphere coupled with personalized service and good food.
Opened in January, 2011, by co-owners George and Mikaela, Oh Lala! offers personalized experiences for its guests, ranging from a laidback sampling of hors d’oeuvres and wines, to a leisurely look at the full menu.
With a total of 9 tables divided between the indoor and outdoors seating, and an open kitchen, Chef George, Mikaela, and their staff, make sure that every visit to Oh Lala, International Cuisine by George, Is a unique and a delicious one.

Very great experience, the presentation was phenomenal wow the service was beyond exceptional ! Everyone was amazing from the front door to the waiters to the chef! We had the Seabass , tuna steak, lambs, 2 different dessert with a special of day appetizer! I highly recommend you come enjoy this experience! It felt like we were on a cooking show with the best dishes & pairings!! The best ever in playa! 10/10

Conocíamos el lugar de años atrás y teníamos un muy buen recuerdo pero ha sido una decepción total. La comida mala, mejillones congelados, salsas de los platillos saladas, porciones realmente reducidas y los precios irreales. Playa del Carmen es un destino caro pero si lo vale, sin problema se paga, pero cuando lo que recibes no lo justifica, es tremendamente frustrante. Nunca más nos verán regresar

We are so happy we were swayed by the many enthusiastic foodie reviews, and disregarded the few misfires. This was some of the best food we’ve ever had, and we’ve dined out in some magical spots. While the setting is nicely-designed minimalist, the food and service was extraordinary. Franco, our server, was a perfect combination of attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. My wife had the filet in red wine sauce, which she said was one of the best steaks she’s ever tasted. I thoroughly enjoyed their signature tuna in butter-soy sauce, and a special appetizer of foie gras, poached pear and several other ingredients. It was masterfully constructed and beautifully presented. The drinks were also a hit, as was the lemon crumble desert. We’ve been to many restaurants considered “one of the best” in Playa del Carmen. This is our fav.

The group by George restaurants are each incredible and different. Oh Lala distances itself from most restaurants by offering a world class fine dining experience. The restaurateurs have never sacrificed the incredible menu options in exchange for hurrying up, e.g., this is the full multi-level dining experience. I eat here every time I’m in Playa del Carmen and have done so since it opened. I know there are new options but I went for my favorites (shrimp and scallops on a skewer and filet mignon with Béarnaise sauce). I am going again this Tuesday. By the way, a reservation (through Open Table) is a must since seating is limited and the food is just that good. On Tuesday I’m going to get the foie gras. I’m so excited to be there. I’m open to all suggestions. On a personal note, I’m friends with the owners, husband and wife team George and Mikaela. They came in on a Monday - their day off, because when they saw my name as a registration they wanted to see me and give out hugs! They somehow dine a truly experienced meal while keeping everything fresh, bright, and elevated.

The food was fantastic , we ordered 4 different main courses , the octopus was super delicious . Service was outstanding , the server was super informative . The presentation was also exquisite , true art . Very small restaurant , intimate , with relaxing background music .

Our waiter was exceptional!! The food was outstanding!! We all had the 5 oz. fillet. This is our favorite restaurant in all of Playa. The best part of our evening was getting to see Clara again.

Excellent, creative food and great staff. Restaurant is located in a nice area near shopping and walking areas. There are several good parking options nearby as well.

I had the pan seared scallops, mussels, filet mignon with béarnaise sauce and then the apple tart. All food items were divine! I am a repeat customer and will continue to be one. So lovely!

This is my first visit to the restaurant in two years and I was more than pleased by every level of the experience. The ambience is cool, comfortable and very understated but chic French inspired. The waitstaff was attentive, but not overbearing. They were efficient and friendly, made good suggestions and answered finally when I had questions about a less than stellar review I had read prior to booking. The food was excellent, the portions perfect, and the entire evening was a delight. To the previous naysayer I would say that you should speak up when you have an issue and not wait until the anonymity of a nameless review gives you cover to criticize without the restaurant having an opportunity to explain or correct whatever slight you felt. I highly recommend oh la la! I will not wait two years until my next visit! ,

Vegetarian options are extremely limited. This is the first time I have ever had fois gras served at room temperature, as opposed to warm or hot. I don't recommend room temperature. I had the filet mignon. After a discussion as to how I wanted it cooked, I wanted it rare, it came slightly more cooked than medium rare, i.e, medium`. I expected more in quality for the hype and the cost. Also, no chocolate for dessert.

The reservation was for 7PM and OhLala was fully occupied. With the convenient parking garage literally right across the street, arrival was super simple. OhLala is a small, unpretentious venue which you could easily miss just walking by. There are two tables out on the veranda and maybe a half dozen or so inside with a total seating capacity of maybe three dozen or so. Very cozy and intimate! The Only Bad : One thing that was seriously subpar was the seating. It sucked. For such a wonderful high-end establishment, their seating is crap. Plastic lawn chairs from Walmart of varying sizes and shapes, some with arms and some not, mostly white but other random ones too. For a 2-hour dinner service, it was not comfortable whatsoever. Three dozen or so decent new chairs of the same uniform style bought in bulk would be a small investment for years of a better and more refined Mediterranean restaurant image. The Service : The service itself is what I call a refined casual... perfect service points but not stuffy or arrogant like in Macao or NYC. There is absolutely no rush whatsoever during the dining experience. Each course is individually ordered at various times, not all at once. Sometimes, the waits can be a bit longer than some may be used to, but with a staff-to-table ratio of at least 1-1, you can't go wrong. The Kitchen : Plus, I just absolutely loved my view into the kitchen and watching the chef do his thing in style. It looked just like a kitchen in Italy with non-commercial appliances, big flames, an unrushed chef, and a great staff camaraderie that was so evident. The Experience : The hostess greeted me at the door with a pleasant, if not very warm, greeting and rez info was given. She quickly seated me in the back in a nice, more-private, area. She also may have been a manager or proprietor as she was doing every job in the front of house. A server approached and offered a choice of waters and then took the drink order on his return. He was not familiar

This is a small gem hidden on a side street. This was the best meal I have ever had in 20 years of coming to Mexico staying at all the finest hotels and eating at the highest rated resturants. Don’t over look this opportunity For an outstanding meal !!

In our opinion this is the best restaurant in Playa del Carmen. I’m hesitant to say that because it’s a small restaurant and I want to make sure I’m able to get a reservation there the next time we are in town! The food is incredible and the service is wonderful.
