Chef Rojas creates curated and erudite experiences, based upon his travels and his decades of experience in great venues across the world.
Steven opened Nutwood in 2017, with the goal of providing the Winter Haven community with the quality of cuisine and service he personally enjoys; delicious food prepared in classic ways, warm and hospitable service, and a family atmosphere to enjoy it all in.

My partner and I have lived in NY and Miami and we are BIG foodies. Since moving to WH a year ago, Nutwood was on my "must try" list due to some of the raving reviews. I decided to try it out for a special date night and I was deeply discouraged. First and foremost, I had sent a message to the restaurant via Opentable to kindly sit us inside as we had an event after dinner and didn't want to arrive sweaty. No reply was ever rcvd. Although we were able to sit inside, this was something that should've been noted prior to our arrival. Second, we ordered the octopus. The octopus was sent back b/c it was lukewarm and lacked a little flavor. Our server had assured us that the octopus would be taken off the bill. It wasn't. Her reasoning for this was that the chef (Mr. Steven Rojas) had asked her if he had asked us if everything was ok when the food came out. Since we did not immediately complain, he felt this was enough cause to justify the charge. If this decision was made prior to him leaving the premises, he should've come to explain his reasoning in person. Instead, we weren't notified until the end of our dinner and he had already left. Lastly, we ordered a bottle of the super tuscan (which was delicious) but we were charged the incorrect bottle (which was of course more expensive). I noticed AFTER we had already paid, which led to the bank freezing the card for what they perceived to be fraud. We used a different card and now we have to wait a few days to see if the charges fall off. ALL OF THIS WAS PREVENTABLE. However, due to poor communication, negligent order entering and some NON-exemplary customer service, I will NOT be returning to dine here anytime soon. TO FUTURE PATRONS, make sure you review your bill AND if you are going to send anything back, make sure to stop enjoying any conversation with loved ones to immediately complain about sub par quality or you will most likely share the same experience we did.

The waitress we had was amazing and I would be willing to try Nutwood again just for her, but the food was not outstanding, especially for the prices. Lemon pancakes did not taste of any lemon, and my friends over medium eggs cooked to death with very salty potatoes and no water refill. We were sat in the front part of the restaurant not even aware there was another seating area, and every guest after us got to choose their seats from either our area (the entrance) or the mysterious back room. We did make a reservation. Wasn’t needed. I could see this being a great place on a cooler day since the outside seating is beautiful, but the little bit of the inside we got to see left much to be desired. Also, just so the staff knows, all conversations can be heard quite clearly from that entryway area. 😬

We went on Mother’s Day. Even though we had reservations the wait was over an hour which was frustrating. But once we were finally seated our server was amazing. She had such a happy demeanor and was attentive to us. The food was worth the wait and we did tell the manager that and he thanked us and apologized for the wait, they didn’t know how busy they would be which is understandable. I would definitely recommend if you are not in a hurry.

Steven the chef and owner is just an amazing addition to Winter Haven. Our choices for the set Mothers Days menu could not have been any better. Avocado/beet toast, deviled eggs, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffle plus small potions dessert- lemon sorbet and bread pudding. Omg. We will not eat for another 24 hours Steven- so happy you chose Winter Haven for your move from Miami I think you told me the first you were open. Cannot say enough about Nutwood!!!! Cheers to your continous success!!!!

Amazing food. Intimate little place in downtown Winter Haven area. In my top 3 for fine dining/high quality food in Polk County (along with Scarpa Italian and Arabella’s).

The Nutwood dining experience nestled us in an outdoor grove of trees; calm and refreshed by the natural setting, we enjoyed a delicious parade of exciting culinary delights with each course.

We eat here fairly often and this was one of the best meals we ever had! Truly outstanding appetizers , entrees, dessert, wine.

We’ve dined at Nutwood a number of times although only for lunch & dinners, so this time we wanted to try the Sunday brunch menu. Needless to say Chef did not disappoint. We were a party of 4 & it seemed like we ordered almost everything available on the menu & enjoyed it all. Our server Beth, as usual, is the best at describing every detail of every menu item & answers all questions without skipping a beat. Kudos to Beth, she’s the best!

The food was somewhat underwhelming, arriving later than anticipated and unfortunately cold. On a positive note, the service was commendable, both friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was inviting.
