This was my second gift of birthday dinner in 2 weeks. I like this restaurant. But this night it was crowded and we sat at a table that was ill-placed: In an essential walkway for waitstaff. Every few minutes I was elbowed or bumped by waiters that were rushing to deliver food. Occasionally with spoken apology but mostly Wham! an elbow or a butt push as they tried to get through balancing plates of food. Any enjoyment that I had experienced previously was missing, and the jostling simply made me angry and unhappy. Was happy to leave, however, and I told my waiter of my unhappiness. He apologized and said I'd get a better table next time. But he did not take my info, and I have no intention of returning. Such a shame. They shouldn't have a table there. No one can enjoy dinner being constantly jostled.

An excellent restaurant. They were very accommodating. My daughter brought her dog so they moved us outside. The outdoor seating was adequate but nothing special. Fortunately the food was very good. Ample portions but not overwhelming. The mushroom appetizer was terrific. Very tasty and pretty generous in size. My sea bass with artichokes was good. Very simply prepared as Italian food often is but probably could have used a little something more, a light sauce perhaps, a drizzle of something, and a starch to make the dish more filling. The two pasta dishes that the other two had were excellent. Rigatoni with tuna and olives, paperdelle with lamb. Very flavorful. Easy to recommend. The indoor dining area was packed with people who seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.

I have been going to Novita for years and I’ve always loved it as the food is always great as the ambience. But the last few times the service has not been great and yesterday was the worst I’ve ever seen it.

Loved the food, the service, the vibe. Felt really welcomed. The place is really small, I didn’t get a good table. In this case, normally I wouldn’t come back. For this place, I’ll make an exception and will definitely come back.

I’ve been to Novita many times and this was comparatively disappointing. The food was excellent, as is typical. The service was really substandard. Friendly but simply negligent. My guest and I were seated at the same time as three other tables and we simply were not attended to. We had to ask for menus. We had to ask for drinks. We had to ask for a dessert menu. At a restaurant of this caliber, it was unacceptable. And a waiter tried to explain to me that they had waited for my guest and I to be seated. But we had a 7pm table. I arrived 15 minutes early and my guest arrived 2 minutes early. Tables seated at the same time had appetizers before we had menus. And the waiter tried to explain to me why this was all a k instead of apologizing and improving the experience. I’m kind to give service 3 stars. And, on top of it all, toward the end of our dinner, servers were seated at a table next to us to eat their dinner. This is fine, of course. Except they are on their phones listening to TikTok. Really bad form.

The two brothers/owners greeted me and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. They made me the perfect vodka martini and offered to seat us indoor or outdoor. Michael Angelo waited on us and made excellent choices for our balanced culinary experience. The food was fantastic!! Novitá never disappoints…

I have been dining at this restaurant for more than ten years. They have a diverse menu - lots of great choices and everything is delicious. The service is always attentive and they recognize and appreciate the repeat business. We were a group of 8 with 6 people being new to the restaurant - they all loved it! It is reliably a great experience!

Came here on a recommendation. Food was very over priced. Wine menu even more so. The biggest thing was that when I booked I said it was my mums 60th birthday and my husbands 45th. There was nothing. No mention, no effort made etc. Very disappointed. Would not go back

The food is predictably good, though not outstanding. Service is adequate, though a waiter delivered my dining companion and I a pair of entrees before we even ordered. The restaurant didn't seem as busy as I once remember. Nevertheless, Novita remains a convenient Gramercy Park staple that is still a good place for a business lunch.

I haven’t visited this restaurant in two years and there’s no chance of my returning . It’s too small way too crowded not enough room between tables, and I found that the owners and some staff were condescending.. Eggplant was good. The Ortechetti with lamb and pork sausage was lamb overpowering. the veal Milanese, is generally a large portion, very shareable. This Milanese was dry, small portion and not worth the price. This restaurant enjoys a regular crowd so they won’t miss our business. To repeat we found their attitude on some of the owners and waiters to be condescending. Christine , West, New York, New Jersey

Five stars all around! We celebrated a Birthday here and from the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. As for the food, it was divine! Each dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Wine was also very very good. We really enjoyed our evening, highly recommend.

There are so many restaurants in NYC to choose from and with new ones popping up everyday. However, there are not many that I find myself revisiting. Novita is one of very few restaurants that I continue to go back over the (10+) years. Novita always impresses me with consistently amazing food and impeccable and friendly service.

Outstanding food and service in a lovely space. Although we were treated very well in a small supplemental side room, the charming main dining room was full, so a small disappointment. Definitely will eat here again.

This was our first time visiting this restaurant. It is small Cozy, and warm. The service was spotty and slow. The servers paid close attention to the regular patrons. We found it difficult to get attention, and to order food and drinks. There were four of us, and it took nearly an hour to get our main course. A short time later, a very rude waiter, said we needed to give up our table that another party was waiting, and that we were there for three hours. I was embarrassed, and angry, as this was not the truth at all. We had been there for 90 minutes, and boil or server was having his dinner at a nearby table, he had the nerve to ask us to leave. my wife and I were celebrating with our son and his fiancé. I spoke to Margarita the manager, who apologized profusely at the attitude of her server. I am still waiting to hear back from the owner of the restaurant. My suggestion to others that are not neighborhood, regulars, beware of the treatment and disrespect that you might be given. It is uncalled for, and totally outrageous.

A fabulous after the theater stop! The gorgonzola salad was amazing. Loved the crab cake appetizer. The lobster pasta was absolutely delicious. Tiramisu….what can I say ~ perfection Highly recommend!!
