Rengaya has been serving YAKINIKU in North Sydney since 1993, making it one of Australia’s pioneering Japanese barbeque restaurants. Now, that tradition is set to continue at its new digs on Miller Street – just a short stroll from the original location – in a much more modern, striking setting. The new fit-out features bar-counter seats around an open kitchen, red booth seating divided by Japanese-style timber panelling and a hard-to-miss chandelier. There’s also a 20-seat private dining room. We use only the finest ingredients such as Japanese Black Cattle made in Australia for beef, Sashimi and Seafood fresh from the sea. Rengaya is the restaurant foodies around the country have chosen.

    A5 wagyu platter was the most amazing tasting meat we’ve ever had. Sadly some of the dishes were not available like the uni and crab but that is to be expected when you’re trying to source fresh food, some times they just aren’t available.

    We have been dinning this restaurant for many times. Always very good service and nice food. But the light a bit dark.

    We luv this restaurant however yesterday’s Bento box was tired and uncharacteristically not loved . The food was very average sadly. We will try again soon Apologises for this review

    As always the attentive staff, service and outstanding food quality and presentation never disappoints. It is worth the extra $$$$

    A bit upset the otoro is out of stock but the chu-toro still very good. The Kagoshima Wagyu rib is just super delicious. We’re seated at a ‘quiet corner’ next to the passage to the restrooms and struggled to get attention for service especially at the very start when we tried to place in our orders. Overall food standard is still superb but average service this time.

    Extraordinary taste experiences brought by premium ingredients. The waitstaff are all Japanese, with basic English communication skills, but their proficiency in English for describing the dishes is lacking, evident in their limited vocabulary and communication abilities. However, their warm and enthusiastic service attitude is impeccable. I will definitely visit again and highly recommend it.

    Fabulous new find. The oysters are the best I have had in Sydney - helpful waitress. Lovely comfortable restaurant with beautiful artworks - loved the booths. Will be back. All the food was very fresh and beautifully presented.
