Many restaurants in Little Italy have become destinations, among them the Busalacchi family's Nonna. The rustic décor features a relaxed country-style feel throughout the restaurant, including the delightful patio. The wonderfully welcoming atmosphere celebrates yet another delicious Sicilian food lineup, including pizzas and all that you would expect from an authentic Italian menu. The terrific entrées show the Sicilian influence, and fill the restaurant with great aromas.

The food was good but the noise level was off the charts. I took my wife there for her birthday and they sat us in the corner at a table for two. Next thing you know they seated a table of at least 15 right next to us. Now we couldn’t carry on a conversation without having to repeat ourselves and speak very loudly. I wanted to ask the waitress to move us but she was too busy with her new rowdy table. We won’t be going back any time soon.

We came for an early dinner on a Friday and were seated outside during golden hour, so it was lovely. Our server was really attentive and we enjoyed our cocktails and mains a lot. The starters of calamari and arancini were just kind of mid, but certainly not bad! The linguine fra diavolo was really, really good and we found ourselves dunking our Il Bianco pizza into the sauce. The pizza was good - a bit sparse in topping ,but the dough was chewy and flavorful. We'd come back, certainly.

I am a repeat customer at Nonna's, I go about once a year. This year, Margaret waited on us again. She's wonderful, attentive, sweet, and makes great recommendations! The food was outstanding (as usual). We had Bolognese Nonna + meatballs and the Antipasto Misto plus some drinks. Just perfect! It was busy and energetic because it was ArtWalk day, but we could still hold a conversation. We sat out on the patio which was perfect for people watching!

We had the grilled octopus.with caramelized onions. It was basically a dish of arugula with a few pieces of fish and hard to even find the onion. Oh and a few pieces of potato. The Gnocco app was wonderful. Melt in your mouth. I had the eggplant wrapped around bucatini topped with tomato and a few shavings of cheese our server told us it was a chef specialty. Eye appeal? It was a brown dish. The eggplant was cooked to death around overcooked bucatini. The worst were the tomatoes. There had to be 2 cups of cooked tomato pieces that drowned everything out. Our server offered us a new entree but by that time my partner was halfway through his so we turned it down. He did comp us on a glass of wine. My partner had a prosciutto topped pizza. It was really delicious. Lots of ham and topping and a nice thinner crust. I wanted to love the meal but was disappointed. Oh servers and rest of folks were very nice as well as the service.

Great Italian cuisine.Restaurant also has an Italian bakery inside. Nothing better than fresh tiramisu and cannolis after a wonderful Italian meal.

Great food and and service. We sat outside and staff fired up the heaters to make us comfortable. The only negative was the panhandlers coming around for $$$. It no fault of the restaurant; just our inept state and local government not effectively managing the homelessness crisis.

This was a great dining experience at Nonna. Our waitress (Margaret) was customer focused, a person nice, patient and very competent. We had drinks, bread, sea bass, and the Nonna spaghetti. Everything was prepared perfectly and was delicious. We ended our meal with a drink and a few cookies that were being sold on the other side of the restaurant. Margaret was kind enough to bring us what we bought from that area. In short, we highly recommend Nonna. Ask for Margaret!! Keep the great work!

Fun meal. Had not been there before, and was pleasantly surprised. Nice casual vibe, good service, some nice menu items. A really successful blend of traditional and more current Italian food trends. Love the bakery case, fun to pick our dessert pastries. Would definitely eat here again next time we’re in San Diego.

We decided on Nonna’s after reading reviews on various social media sites. We wanted good pizza. The capresse was just ok. The tomato’s were not ripe The pizza was probably the worst we have ever had. We ordered artichoke and prosciutto It was uncooked. Sloppy and just awful. We never send food back so we ate what we could , paid and left. Never again and as we walked through the streets we noticed many other outdoor restaurants serving delicious looking pie.

So many choices in Little Italy San Diego. Nonna's remains truly Italian from the serve staff to the food. Sitting out front of Nonna's every morning are groups of older Italian men visiting in their native language, laughing, and enjoying their social time. The Italian pastries (made in house) are always fresh and delicious especially paired with an espresso or strong coffee. I recently had linguine with clams-one of my favorites) and it did not disappoint. My husband always gets spaghetti and meatballs made with Nonna's Sunday sauce. It's not trendy, it's not over-expensive, it's just darn good food. Give it try.

Nonna’s was a very good dining experience for an early Sunday dinner. We sat out on the patio, which had great people watching seats. Nonna’s bolognese pasta was delicious!! Adding the meatballs for a little extra is an absolute must!! The sausage pizza was also fantastic. The sauce had a little kick to it, yum!! The crust was a perfect amount of crispiness and soft, hard to explain, just really good. The appetizer wasn’t the best bruschetta we’ve had, and only 3 pieces. But overall, we will definitely be dining there again in the near future.

We sat on the patio with the plastic walls, it was not the ambience I was hoping for. The inside was charming this wish we would have been seated there. The service was marginal, we had a waiter who was sarcastic and inattentive for the most part. The appetizer and meal was good, not excellent. The dessert options were very good and fun!

Over priced food because of area, I wish I went somewhere else. I know there’s real Italian on the street. I feel like Nonna catfishes and than disappoints with food. Pizza was American boof, pasta low-to mid, tiramisu good, calamari was rubber and not crispy or well breaded. Not for a refined date night, maybe a cheap one.
