Two Minneapolis restaurateurs and one of the region’s top chefs are transforming the historic Gardner Hardware Building at 515 Washington Avenue North in the North Loop neighborhood of Minneapolis The team consists of Marty Collins, Brett Johnson and Peter Hoff, each native Minnesotans with extensive industry experience. Marty owns McCoy’s Public House and several restaurants in Kansas City, Missouri. Brett and his family have owned and operated The Hilltop Restaurant for the past 40 years. Pete, the head chef, brings his most recent culinary experience and creativity from California to NOLO’s and The Basement Bar. His culinary vision and passion for local ingredients will help create the new modern comfort food. The team shares a passion for the restaurant and bar industry and sees an opportunity to fill gaps in the market in the North Loop.

    Very cute, very chic spot in the North Loop. The food was very good and the service was superb, it was just very loud (we did also see 4 different Bachelorette parties swing through in our hour there)

    Great experience! Service was helpful and attentive, food was delicious. We were visiting from out of town but would definitely go back next time we’re here!

    The food was decent. The place was very nice in terms of atmosphere. Took a while for the waitress to acknowledge us. Then she screwed up the order when she added things we didn’t order. But they made it right in the end and gave us something extra for the trouble.

    Noisy, intense, great for teens and young folks but not for 35 + w...food okay for the young folks, nothing outstanding. We had two WONDERFUL women servers and they were the BEST part of the evening. They relocated us to a booth vs. table and we dodged a bullet due to this move to the booth as we would have been sandwiched between a very raucous Fridday night group to our right and then a very raucous Bride celebration! We had a reservation for 4, this being a birthday celebration for teen granddaughters from grandparent and Aunt. The teens chose the restaurant and were happy! The "elders" will look elsewhere in the future.

    The food was very flavorful and nice portions. My husband and I share our dishes so the server was kind enough to split our food in advance and give us separate dishes. Drinks were good as well but pricey.
