Opened in April 2024 by a family that has been operating restaurants in and around Old Town for almost 50 years. Located in the heart of Old Town, Mystic has a diverse menu featuring Texas style smoked brisket, baby rack ribs & Carolina pulled pork. Meats are smoked low & slow in BBQ champion Myron Mixon's signature smoker that is front and center in our open kitchen. BBQ is just one part of this southern centric menu that also features fresh seafood including our signature spicy she crab soup, low country shrimp & grits & creole bouillabaisse. Not to be missed is the jumbo lump crab cake sandwich, which sets the standard for all of Old Town. Specialty sandwiches & unique salads are available all day in a casual setting that features upscale but moderately priced food. Great little wine list & large selection of draft beers are also available. Don’t forget about the “bananas foster” bread pudding with vanilla bean ice cream & brown sugar rum sauce.

The two of us being barbecue purists having ordered only pulled pork sandwiches with a cold slaw side, thought the barbecue while a substantial portion was both sweet and a bit spicy. We are NC vinegar based fans. Need to return as other desirable dishes and sides, fairly priced along with a good beer and wine list. Good competition in old town and Del Ray.

Great food with a choice of barbecue or seafood. She crab soup was excellent. The server was friendly and efficient.

This is really good BBQ! Four of us each had the half rack of ribs with 2 sides for $24.00. The ribs were meaty and juicy and the sauces were also good. The service was fast and friendly. Will go back to try the pulled pork and brisket. This new restaurant is much better than the one it replaced and is also better than the other BBQ places in and around Alexandria.

We visited for date night. The menu contains an interesting variety between bbq and southern cuisine. We enjoyed the chicken wings ( smoked and juicy with Alabama white sauce), shrimp po-boy and bouillabaisse. All very good. We will be back soon.

Really enjoyed the brisket with mac and cheese, very tender as well as the baby back ribs. Will definitely be coming back!

My husband and I went for date night. This was our second time at Mystic. The food was tasty and Kat, our server was amazing. We will definitely be back.

Not just for BBQ. 6 of us celebrated my birthday with my family here, ages 10-85. First time visiting and happy we chose Mystic BBQ. Get the wings. Phenomenal. Smoke, spice, a hint of sweetness. Some of the best I have had in Old Town. Shrimp and Grits and Etouffee were very good. Ribs were a winner as well. Great place for bbq and other dishes. Friendly and attentive service.
