Inspired by the idyllic Italian island of Capri, Mr. Capri brings the flavors of the surrounding coasts to New York City’s West Village. The 75-seat restaurant fulfills a lifelong dream of Capri-natives owner Alessandro “Ale” Passante and his brother Mario Passante, who serves as culinary director. The four Passante brothers grew up in Capri working at their family cafe and restaurant, where their mother was the chef, and their father was a local paparazzi and photographer. Specializing in regional cuisine from Capri, the restaurant offers seafood, pasta and seasonal dishes alongside a creative cocktail program and extensive wine list anchored on wines from Campania.

The decor by Studio Valerius will be bright and airy with nods to the legendary island beauty and decor elements imported from Capri.

Very good. Wasn’t sure if the place would live up to the reviews. But the service was great. The food was definitely better than the typical nyc Italian place. Even the bread and olive oil were memorable. I’d go back.

My wife and I had a wonderful evening at Mr. Capri. The food and service was phenomenal, and we especially enjoyed chatting with the owner (we learned he used to live near where our family is from in Monte di Procida / Torre del Greco area of Naples). Such a nice experience and we will definitely be returning! I am also going to buy a gift certificate so I can send my parents for my mom's birthday - I know they will love it as well. - Joe

For a 545 reservation on Saturday night, a few hiccups 1) at no point was I informed that in the dining room there was a party planned so had to be out by 7 2) when instead I chose to sit in the bar area, the offered table was next to the noisy bar (there’s a early bird discounted menu at the bar so it was packed) 3) I asked to sit at a bar area table that was further from the bar but it was a table for 4. I was told I would have to vacate that table by 7 as well with the manager explaining that 90 min max for a party of 2. My reservation was for 545 though I arrived a bit early but my guest was arriving at 545. I explained we had 730 theater tickets nearby and would likely leave no later than 710. He “allowed” this. Food was good but we won’t be returning to what we had hoped would be a great choice for the nabe.

Ahmed, Alejandra, and Christain made amazing food and lovely ambiance even better! Would come back for Ahmed alone. Don’t sleep on a reservation here. Great date spot. Great place for catching up with friends. Reasonably priced. Cozy. Just perfect!

The owners have created a culinary experience that is not a NY one but an Italian one not to be missed. Excellent food and presentation accompanied by a genuine attention to treating diners as guests.
