Situé dans le centre historique d'Auburn, le Monkey Cat est une destination populaire autant pour les habitants que pour les visiteurs qui sont à la recherche d'une expérience gastronomique raffinée. Élu « meilleur restaurant » dans de nombreuses enquêtes lecteurs (Auburn Journal), le Monkey Cat possède une ambiance particulière et un menu très complet. En 2005, le propriétaire, Jim Bril, est venu à Auburn en provenance de San Francisco où il était associé directeur du célèbre Fior D 'Italia à North Beach, connu comme « le plus ancien restaurant italien de l'Amérique ». Il a rapidement fait du Monkey Cat le premier restaurant dans la Gold Country en ce qui concerne la gastronomie, les banquets, les réunions d'affaires et les occasions spéciales. We've enjoyed dining at Monkey Cat over the years but are finding portions are greatly shrinking while prices increase. Mt husband ordered a Ceasar Salad, $14.00 with an add on of chicken $11.00. The Ceasar salad was less than half a plate with a chicken breast on the side. I had to ask the waitperson if that was a normal portion size for a salad, it was. The salad was not worth $25.00. We'll have to reconsider dining at Monkey Cat.

Music was too loud. Food was not good. Who puts pork belly on a Caesar salad, and too heavy on the dressing. The Mac and cheese, which I remembered from a previous visit as delicious, was greasy with thin sauce. Not at all the relaxed atmosphere we were looking for. We won’t be returning

The food and service here is outstanding. Be advised that it is expensive to eat here. The main courses are pricy to begin with (except for the $18 burger), but to add a salad is $14-15. Plus $5.00 for bread service. To top it all off, they charged a credit card fee of $5.36.

Overall an excellent experience!! Erica was a great waitress! We loved the food, the drinks were on point! Best seafood risotto I’ve ever had! I will definitely be back!!!

As usual, this wonderful lil gem in our community never disappoints! Today I had the mushroom soup and the chopped salad, both were delicious and the service was amazing!

I have eaten here many times. Unfortunately, my favorite thing was no longer on the menu but I had an excellent meal. The server was very pleasant and efficient. We had a lovely evening.

Great food (salmon and filet mignon) ! We ordered black coffee and crem brule for dessert. The coffee was old and tasted burnt. The custard in the crem brule was cold and not served warm like most restaurants. Despite the coffee and desert we would still go back there because the meal was so good!

The food, service and value was excellent. It's a little bit more noisy than I like and very bright. If you are looking for something intimate, this isn't the place. If you're looking for delicious food and drink with excellent service you will find it here. Do watch your step going to the bathroom, the floor is wonky and there's a few trip hazards that need to be addressed.

My husband had the filet and I had the chicken cordon bleu. Both fantastic. The Very sexy martini was delicious. We also had the Carmel cheesecake and tiramisu. Both also delicious.

Great food. A little pricey especially the drinks. Had shrimp and beef tacos on Taco Tuesday. Nice place because they offer more than the burger/fries sports bar thing. An actual good restaurant which seems harder to find these days. .

I have dinned at Monkey Cat in the past which had been good. This time, however, they had a party of 25 in the back room and were a bit overwhelmed. Our server was outstanding but the soup and salad and the main courses took an unreasonable amount of time to be plated. The Filet Mignon was a good portion but overly salty. I was disappointed especially in relation to the cost of the meal. I hope this was just an anomaly and not the "new normal." I most likely will give the restaurant another chance and hope for a better outcome.

Excellent menu, with lots of choices for every palate (including gluten free). Each dish was delicious and reasonably priced. Erica is an awesome server! Friendly ,efficient and attentive. Desserts were yummy too. It’s our fave and a great local place to celebrate a birthday or any special event.

Very upset by the $9.00 credit card fee in top of the bill. Also my friends iron steak was full of grizzle and uneatable. Not happy and will not return.

One of the best restaurants in Auburn. Excellent food, excellent service. (We happen to adore our favorite server, Erica.) With their latest menu, entree prices have hit Bay Area levels at $28-40 each... Ouch. But the quality makes it worth it!

Nothing on the menu is under $18, we had hoped for a quick girls night with finger foods to share. The was mediocre at best, my wings and her calamari both had obviously been sitting a while. Though we drought in one bottle of wine to share, our friend had to rain the longest time to be asked if she wanted anything , which she did and even that took forever. We had hoped for some holiday cheer, and while we made our own, we continue to be disappointed every time we come here and won’t likely be back until it changes hands again.

I don’t feel the meal was worth the price. I ordered the honey glazed salmon on top of herb rice, bock choy joy and shitaki mushrooms. My dish came with salmon on top of small base of bland bock choy and mushroom. When I asked the server where’s the rice? Her response was ‘she was told last week they stopped serving the dish with rice’ she also said ‘ she didn’t know why they haven’t updated the menu’ the dish was not worth $32.00! I was very disappointed. I’m not planning on eating at this establishment in the near future. Too many other options to try in the area.

The calamari appetizer was cooked to perfection, as was the chicken cordon bleu. An excellent meal. Restaurant was busy but we never felt rushed. Cheyenne did a fabulous job serving us. Highly recommended.
