Hand made pasta was delicious, we had the squid ink pasta and tagliatelle ragu. Also made it in time for happy hour where they serve small apertivos along with a drink. Service was great and we felt well taken care of. Would recommend again!

Amazing place !! ALL the food was amazing & top notch service. Alot of items that I want to try. Just a little pricey but worth it. Would recommend and will be back for sure !!!

We went as a party of four, I don't remember our waiters name but he was very attentive and informative. The food was absolutely divine. Would totally visit again!

I recently checked out Monello in Downtown San Diego’s vibrant Little Italy neighborhood. I was most impressed with this sleek, modern Italian restaurant with excellent service. Attention to detail is on full display in everything they do. Monello has been winning numerous awards since they opened a little more than a decade ago. Such a unique place that specializes in 25 different kinds of handcrafted pasta daily, highlighting traditional Milanese street food and the popular cheesewheel pasta. I ordered the Tagliatelle with Ragu, described as grandma’s style all beef red meat sauce. How could you go wrong with that! The dish was outstanding with al dente pasta, and richly flavored sauce. Portions were quite generous and so beautifully presented. Highly recommended.

We were the only ones there, and our waitress couldn't be bothered to bring us menus, freshen our drinks, lower the music, or even be within eyeshot. We eventually moved our seats to get away from the blaring music and have a conversation. We were in the hot sun to be able to hear each other talk, and then, never got ice for our water. When it was time to order food, we had to go get her. The appetizer was fair, but the chicken and cheese were good. It was a weekday, and parking was manageable. Won't be back.

Very great restaurant! We did the pasta in the cheese wheel and it was a one of a lifetime experience! Our server was wonderful and walked us through everything to make sure we had the best experience!

Don’t do pecorino cheese wheel. So salty. Carbonara is the opposite as it’s dry butter noodles with bacon. You can’t go wrong here with the bolognese. I order this every time and it’s the best spaghetti I’ve ever had

GREAT ITALIAN FOOD! Not your traditional interior decor, very much on the modern minimalist design. I say that in a positive manner. Service was excellent. But the food was exceptional. I can’t remember what the house specials were called, but don’t be shy…. it was delicious.

Monello offers a culinary journey through Italy with a distinctive ambience that could be described as dimly lit and bustling, although the noise level can sometimes be overwhelming, especially when seated amidst larger groups. Unfortunately, our dining experience was somewhat marred by the lackluster service provided by our server, who seemed rather awkward and inattentive throughout the meal. Despite this setback, the highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the delectable cuisine. The gnocchi was heavenly, the flavorful cheese wheel pasta and Margherita pizza was a delightful indulgence. Paired with a bottle of wine, the flavors transported us to the heart of Italy, making it a memorable dining experience despite the service shortcomings.

We have been customer’s of Monello since it first opened. We moved from the area but always come back to visit our favorite Little Italy haunt. The food and service are always great.

I LOVE the saffron pasta with shrimp! Our table had the lasagna, carbonara, and a pizza. We loved it all. Very flavorful. Our server, Andrea and the rest of the team (and they do have a team approach) were excellent is customer service! Would go again.

Front of house and back were off. Drinks were slow, food was fast coming out of the kitchen. The server wasn’t attentive and offered dessert after the bday girl already had hers. Server also made it really uncomfortable for our group to split the check. Food was delicious so we’ll be back for that with hopefully better service next time around.

Upon greeting the hosts, they sat us promptly and with a smile. Water and menus were provided while we waited for our server. The server seemed pre-occupied and yes it was busy but not uncommon for a Friday night. When he took our order the appetizers came out quickly and they were delicious, my friend and I were chatting and enjoying the evening when we realized it had been about 35/40 minutes and out entrees had not been served yet, water glasses not refilled, nor were we checked to let us know the status of our food, not the best experience, better luck next time

First time eating at Monello and certainly not my last. This place was great overall! Loved their Tagliatelle Al Ragu D’agnello pasta and their non-alcoholic mojito. Additionally, their service was exceptional… very attentive!

Our server was kind but not very attentive. I had to ask for a glass of wine both times - never asked if we wanted drinks. Then when the dinner came I had to ask for pepper, no offer of Parmesan. Just no extras. We waited a long time for the bill. Just didn't feel very well taken care of. Great food though.

Decided to try out Monello after seeing a few social media posts about the cheese wheel. Monello and their staff did not disappoint . Located right in downtown San Diego in an area with plenty of parking options nearby . We were early to our reservation but we’re seated right away . Tasty drinks , appetizers (calamari tasted fresh) and a good selection of wine. The cheese wheel pasta was TO DIE FOR.

Food mediocre. Service was terrible. Waiter had twice the number of tables he should have. Nice guy but no way anyone can serve that many tables.
