We ate at Monarch before a show at the Orpheum. It was very pleasant and our server was attentive, if a little harried. (I think they were short-staffed.) I had a pasta dish and my husband had a rib-eye steak, both of which were satisfying. I would love to see a little more creativity and diversity in the menu; also in the wine selections, which were adequate, but not outstanding. We will return to the Monarch because of its convenience, but I wish they would up their game a bit.

Beyond underwhelmed. Highly overpriced given the quality of food, drinks and service. The two desserts (peanut butter and banana) were dry and tasteless. The orange chocolate drink tasted like water with a muted hint of orange, less than a bad LaCroix. We had two filets, one steak and frites and two burgers. The filets were cooked well (medium-rare) The fingerling potatoes were nearly raw on both dishes. The fries were soggy and seasoned beyond recognition. The burgers tasted sweet which is not something you want or expect. The service was inattentive and forgetful; we had to remind of water, silverware and who had which item. The menus feel cheap and they looked like the food tasted. I’ve never been more disappointed in a restaurant in Omaha.

Menu keeps shrinking unfortunately. We love The Monarch but hate seeing favorites like flatbread, pork chops, etc disappear from the menu.

They sat us 20 min after our reservation then it took at least 15 min for a server to greet us. Unbussed tables with dirty plates were next to us almost the whole time we were there. Food was very average for the prices. I was disappointed because it was a special occasion and it is a beautiful space. They must be understaffed.

It was an okay experience we went here for a pre-prom dinner the appetizers were delicious I was very underwhelmed with the small portion on the salmon and the overpowering sauce. Also a friend found plastic in their food. The pasta had very large portions however for the price.

The hostess was very rude when we requested not to be sat next to a very loud party that was already enjoying their meal. Our steaks were soo chewy and coated in peppercorns they were inedible.

We got there at 5:40 before the Orpheum show at 7:30 and were seated right away. We had a reservation for 5:45. The length of time between drinks, appetizer and our meals was very long. Which is nice if you want to enjoy a slow pace but a little nerve wracking when you only have 10 minutes to get in your seat for the show. They were out of decaf coffee (???) but comped us decaf hot tea. Food was exceptionally good! I had steak & frites (subbed a salad for the frites). My steak was exceptional! My friends had Cajun pasta with added chicken. They each brought some home for lunch today! I highly recommend but make your reservation for 5:30 if you are going to the show!

This was our second time at Monarch, the first for brunch. Even though we weren’t overly impressed with the brunch, we decided to try it for dinner given its proximity to the Orpheum. Honestly, the atmosphere, the service, the cocktails…all really good. The food was just a step above okay. Not a great menu for this type of restaurant, particularly with so many other choices in the downtown area. May be better for just cocktails before a show.

Cosmopolitans were excellent! The batter on the calamari was way too salty, but our main dishes of a sirloin steak and a pesto pasta dish were delicious. Despite the Calamari that was taken off our bill, we had an enjoyable meal at Monarch and will return in the future.
