Le Momotaro, petit dernier du Boka Restaurant Group, est un restaurant japonais multi-dimensionnel situé à West Loop. Géré par son chef exécutif Mark Hellyar, le Momotaro a récemment été élu Restaurant de l'année par le Chicago Magazine et le Chicago Social. Conçu par le décorateur mondialement célèbre AvroKO, le restaurant possède également un izakaya au sous-sol ainsi qu'un élégant espace privé au deuxième étage qui surplombe la salle à manger principale. Très éclectique, son menu de 90 plats propose notamment du riz, des nouilles, des spécialités au hibachi, des plats froids et chauds, ainsi qu'un large choix de sushis et de sashimis. Si vous n'arrivez pas à réserver à l'heure qui vous convient, la plupart des tables de l'izikaya fonctionnent sur la base du premier arrivé, premier servi, et le restaurant accepte les clients sans réservation !

Exquisite fresh quality. Various unique species of fresh fish. Beautiful plate presentation. Friendly & knowledgeable service. I believe Open Table rates expense at $$$, but it is $$$$, just an fyi. Definitely our return to experience Momotaro is guaranteed.

The food was excellent. Presentation was 5 star. Noise level made it difficult to communicate with the staff and others at the table which wasn’t helped by the overhead music. Wait staff was extremely attentive and helpful. Overall an excellent experience

The food is absolutely wonderful here and the service. My only complaint is that some of the courses came out with too much time in between. We were about to ask for our check when two more courses of sushi came to the table. Will be back!

This was truly amazing and I cannot come back here to really try the menu. We stopped by for Mother’s Day brunch experience and it was the best decision we could make. As we checked in I appreciated the host for being super friendly full of energy. Then our server was as cheerful as can be and attentive to my dates needs. The ambiance was amazing as well music was a fusion of hip hop pop and r&b so I was jamming the whole time. Now on to the food, and it was all amazing not one thing lacked at this place honestly. I really cannot wait to come back to try more options on the menu. I really want to go and describe each item we had but that would be robbing you as a consumer of the experience. All in all this place is amazing and a very high recommendation from me.

Very attentive staff. Dishes were picked up immediately, water glass always full and food came out in a good time. The ambiance is beautiful I love the layout and how you can see the chefs cooking and the sushi bar is in the center of the restaurant, just beautiful. Music was awesome they played Drake, but there was good variety. The only thing is menu is alacarte which is a bit disappointing because I wish there was an option that had taken all the guess work out of ordering. Price point is nice but I can see how the bill could get out of control, but overall love this place. Good food, good drinks, good vibes, diverse staff which is also a plus.

The food selection at Momotaro was quite impressive but I was mostly blown away by how outstanding the service was. Our server took his time to explain the menu and make thoughtful recommendations. He was both personable and attentive. I can honestly say the experience would not have been the same without our server. My party went downstairs to The Izakaya after our meal for one last celebratory cocktail and the outstanding service continued. The staff at Momotaro seems very well trained and prepared to provide guests with an excellent experience. I would love to return to both Momotaro and The Izakaya in the future.

Absolutely my favorite Japanese restaurant in Chicago, they cover a wide spectrum of Japanese food and do it all so well! Service is beyond phenomenal and great management presence in the dining room.

Excellent sushi restaurant. Would definitely come back. The music was a little loud for my personal overall preference but that was part of the vibe of the restaurant.

By far one of my favorite restaurants in the city. THE FOOD IS AMAZING, each time I go I get something different and its just delicious. The staff is super helpful as well.

This is not an authentic Japanese dining food experience. Food is geared for more refined Americanized palates. Service was very slow the night I went — either understaffed or poor management. It took about 45 minutes just to get our cocktails. The waitstaff were very nice about it though. They also over pour your soy sauce for you, a nice gesture but too much of a heavy pour.

This was just outstanding. Our server and his accompanying staff were great! The octopus was so tender! The beef rice bowl was crazy good. I definitely recommend the broccoli salad, and the star of the evening was just the chicken meatballs with a very inventive dipping sauce. Get anything they have grilled on a skewer. The lightly smoky, grilled flavor is completely on point for traditional Japanese bincho and delicious!

We had a fantastic time at Momotaro, the food was excellent and I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Appetizers are fairly small except for the Cachan rice bowl was huge but all were delicious! The octopus being my personal favorite. The sushi rolls had unique flavors of excellent quality the momomaki roll was a table favorite.

Music was too loud and was hard to have a conversation. It was also a little difficult to hear the waiter when taking our order. They just need to bring it down a notch and will be perfect

We have been here many times but this last experience was poor to say the least. Our sever ignored us are entire dinner. The food was just ok.

The waiter wasn't friendly at all with us, I feel like he was a little bit racist against us. Each one of us order the chef's choice nigiris, it is supposed to be the best nigiris and they were horrible, the taste of wasabi in every piece was really strong; we told the waiter and he didnt care, I didn't even finish what I was telling him before he was gone. Also my husband ordered an old fashioned (he has a lot of experience with that drink) and they bring it with regular ice, he ask if they had large cubes of ice and the waiter answer that it has a $2.00 extra charge, my husband say ok I want it like that maybe you should ask me, and he didnt change the drink. I really dont put bad comments in restaurants but this was a bad experience for us, I was celebrating my birthday.

Very average or less nigiris. Rice would fall apart from not being prepared well. Service was rushed. Our server could not take our order fast enough and was less than friendly. Great place for partying if you don’t care about listening to someone speaking to you. Too loud for anything social. I won’t come back.

Great evening at Momotaro. Overall the quality of the fish and the service was very good. Calvin our server was attentive, courteous and very knowledgeable about the menu. Ask of the Tuna neck if it’s available. Very well prepared. Some of the rolls are overpriced for what you get, I felt the nigiri offered a better value. The Haru Maki was the standout.

Enjoyed our first time at Momotaro! Even my request was honored for having a nice booth to have a great view of the entire restaurant. Beautiful food and great service. Nice ambiance though I thought music was a bit too loud for easy conversation.
