We sat down on Mothers day around 6:30. 15 minutes later we were offered water. The person serving us (Her name began with a "A"), seemed to be busy chatting it up with the hostess and other wait staff. About 5 minutes later, she took our drink order. and another 10 for our meal order. The appetizer and main were only minutes apart. There should have been a bit of a pause between courses. We were waiting for a second drink offer but none came. It wasn't because the restaurant was busy, it just seemed our waitress was more interested in conversations with the other staff members. There is definitely room for training and improvement with this particular server.

Overall a very good experience. It wasn't terribly busy but service was a little slow. Food was really good, a couple of obnoxious tables near by, but other than that, all good.

We were looking for a fun place to eat near the Charles Theater, and thought we sould give MJ Oconnors a try. We made a reservation via Open Table and specifically asked for a regular table (NOT a high top). The hostess said they didn't have any regular tables, so we ended up sitting at the bar. It was a good move because the bar tender was fabulous and we had a great time watching the Sox game (we won!) and also the beginning of the F1 race. Excellent beer selections and the food was outstanding - best french onion soup ever! Perfect french fries and my grilled cheese was delicious. We will definitely be back!

I love this place, it has a very comfortable neighborhood vibe. People going here after work friends gathering it felt perfectly comfortable in the food is all delicious comfort food. I highly recommend the pretzels. This might be one of my favorite stops when I go to see Theatre in Boston.

It was good not great. Very loud but have to expect that in a sports bar with a playoff game on. I’d go back. It was fine.

I ordered a Ruben sandwich without the bread. The corned beef was grisly and and tough. It was a terrible piece of meat. It was not even edible.

We had the chicken pie and beef stew both were great. However, the service was awful. It was not very busy and still took ten full minutes before anyone came to the table for drink orders. Food was delivered quickly by someone other than our server. Server was pleasant but sat at a back table rolling tableware, we could see her, while we waited for her to comeback to check on us. Had to go to the host to ask for our check, which took yet another ten minutes.

My group and I walked in and met the hostess. Told her our reservation time and name, she couldn’t have cared less. She told us to find another hostess across the restaurant. We find another hostess and are seated. Our friend who was late had the same issue and said the hostess didn’t acknowledge her. Our server didn’t come around to our table a lot, but was eager when it was time to pay the bill. A person in our party had a gift card, and the server wouldn’t check how much was left on it (our friend wasn’t sure), he simply said it didn’t work. The server rolled his eyes when we were figuring out the tip, while he stood over our table. Food was fine, service all around was terrible.

Des the manager is very charming. Edwin our server was professional and attentive. The food was absolutely amazing! We had the most amazing French onion soup, fresh pear salad, chicken pot pie and shrimp fettuccine was the best ! I love the atmosphere ! Des runs this restaurant and only expects high quality service and food , he accomplished his goal. Delicious, fun night!

We love this bar overall, but while my flatbread was okay (could have used more hot honey), my husband’s Chicken BLAT sandwich was super dry and too salty. It was like chicken jerky between two pieces of bread. The Aperol Spritzes were good though! Our server seemed distracted and a bit robotic but she was kind overall. We’ll be back, but maybe just for drinks next time…

I was staying at the Boston Park Plaza and was looking for a restaurant that was convenient before attending a show at the Shubert. I loved the fact that I could make reservations through OpenTable for M.J. O'Connor's. Both my friend and I were very pleased with our meals. The clam chowder was one of the best I've ever had! I'll definitely go back the next time I'm in Boston!

Out for a pre-theatre dinner with my wife. Food was excellent and service was great. We sat at the bar and the atmosphere was perfect. Got into a conversation with folks near us which is what you want to have happen. Ended going back for an after show drink.

Great friendly service, even had an Irish accent! Food was OK. Ordered a salad with salmon and it was basically lettuce and salmon. Salmon was cooked well.

The staff was very pleasant and professional. Seated right away. The food was ok. Drinks nah even though it was just soda it was flat after telling the manager and waiter , to get it from the other bar still came back flat but didn’t get charged. But don’t think I will go back.

No way this chowder won “best in Boston”, unless it was a former kitchen staff. Bland cream sauce with bits of clam and potato. Equal to canned, at best. Corned beef and cabbage egg rolls were mostly doughy egg roll wrapper with little filling. Server was attentive. Incredibly loud. I assume it s just an after work drink place, not a food place.

Only thing that kept it from 5 stars is it was pretty loud and the bathrooms could use some TLC. Broken TP dispenser etc. other than that a great experience. Server was awesome although we didn’t get his name. Food was delicious. We’ll be back.

Chicken Marsala was tasty and surprisingly tender. Happy to have a TV in my sights showing the Red Sox. Too bad they lost. The server from Dublin had a good sense of humour and had a good sense about how often to visit our table. My Diet Coke was disappointing. Too much syrup; not enough sweetness, effervescence or ice.

Good food and there are good options for both a sit down dinner or just a quick sandwich. Nice Irish pub but with a more upscale drink menu. It's fun but not Southie!

Food was excellent but a little expensive. The location was very convenient to our hotel. Table service was also excellent.

Food was absolutely delicious, served hot and arrived very quickly. Drinks and service were great as well.

Food service and location were great. Just too noisy to try to carry on a conversation without shouting.

Good as always for neighborly fun and eating, while able to watch EVERY sport on the many TVs😀
