Mimi’s Bakehouse is a second-generation family business established in Edinburgh in 2010, when Michelle Phillips sold her family home to open a bakery café in Leith. We have gone on to build a local success story brand that gives people a ‘hug when they walk in the door’ as the original café has since doubled in size and the business has gained five more shops, a successful website selling cakes online and a concession at Archerfield Walled Garden. We also opened an industrial bakery in March 2020, out of which most online trade is produced for fulfilment. Mimi’s Bakehouse has become one of Edinburgh’s best-loved bakeries and an award-winning brand which is a well-known “feel good” place to visit, while remaining small enough to go the extra mile and try new things.
We serve brunch, afternoon tea, coffee and cake.

The ultimate treat! Afternoon Tea brings together the best of Mimi’s Bakehouse classics, from handmade scones with clotted cream and jam to fluffy cupcakes and nostalgic traybakes served alongside a curated list of tea from Edinburgh’s Eteaket Tea. Our award-winning Afternoon Tea experience is currently available at Mimi’s Bakehouse, Leith and Corstorphine seven days a week. Due to high levels of demand, booking is recommended. We require 48 hours for all bookings. Make it extra special with a glass of champagne, a locally sourced gin and tonic or a speciality coffee from Edinburgh’s own Machina Coffee.

Went for my daughter's birthday as she loves Mimi's Mac&Cheese, and that's what she wanted. However, the Mac & Cheese was off the menu, as was her 2nd choice, Croque Mimi. We both struggled to find another option as every dish seems to contain both egg & avocado, or one of these. Daughter was reduced to having a sandwich, and I chose croissant with smoked salmon, but requested it without the poached egg so I got an extra hash brown in it. I was pretty disappointed that the plate contained the croissant and nothing else. No salad or accompaniment other than a tiny pot of hollandaise. It felt like the kitchen had run out of accompaniments too. Daughter didn't much enjoy her sandwich & left most of it, having to settle on making her hot chocolate feel like the highlight of lunch instead. We usually love Mimi's, but on this occasion left saddened & feeling very disappointed. Not quite the birthday treat that we'd hoped for.

Excellent value. Very good scones! Not very traditional cakes with the afternoon tea, but certainly very tasty.

Food was amazing, unfortunately staff were a-bit all over the place, not knowing what tables had been checked and which hadn’t and when asking if we needed anything to which we replied yes items or details were missed or not brought at all. Bit of a let down from the last time we were in

We had a forenoon tea which was delicious. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Once again the Ladies toilets were not up to standard with handtowels scattered over the sinks and floors. Apart from that everything else was great.

Mimis what has happened. The place was half partitioned like a building site and the chatty ambience that once existed was gone,it was bleak. The food was warm but dare I say quantity over quality ,and for what we had value was poor. I don't know whats happening, maybe expanding too quick but you've lost that quality edge that was you trademark. We noticed this at Comely Bank branch as well. Staff,however were very attentive.

We got seated promptly which was good service by female on front of house. We then waited 10 mins till I got the attention of server dealing with another customer who came in after us. We had booked online afternoon tea for 2 as it was my birthday treat from my boyfriend to which I had also confirmed this via email mimi’s sent. The server had told the other customer that no afternoon teas had been booked for today which is when I interrupted to advise I had booked for that also. Server then went away somewhere and came back another 5 mins later to deal with other customer. This is very poor service so we got up and walked out without eating. 1st and last time I’ll come here.

I enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea at Mimi's Bakehouse. The food was delicious. They were able and willing to make a couple substitutions because of some dietary needs that I have. Very nice place. I highly recommend!

Staff were lovely and we were seated and served quickly. The banana bread was out of this world, coffee's were lovely and dairy free milk was accommodated no problem. My French toast was sadly really disappointing. I don’t know if it was simply down to the thickness of the bread, or just an oversight, but the bread wasn’t soaked in egg right through. So basically I ended up with a super thin omelette attached to each side of the bread but completely untouched plain bread through the middle.

Very poor experience compared to many previous visits. Most of the restaurant was closed off, so there was none of the usual buzz we expect at Mimi's. In terms of food served in our afternoon tea, the scones were obviously not freshly made that day and as a result were very dry and unappetising. The cakes were fine but clearly reduced in size but the sandwiches and sausage rolls reached Mimi's usual standard. Up until now we have always left Mimi's in Leith feeling extremely satisfied with the whole experience of both the restaurant itself and the standard of the food. As a result this visit left us feeling flat and disappointed. Just to make it clear, the staff were very attentive so this review is not a reflection of their service.
