I ordered an iced tea and received a glass of what ended up being bottled or canned iced tea. Tasted terrible. When I asked about it, I was offered that they could brew me a hot tea and put it over ice. That sounded great. They gave me the tea choices and I picked black tea. What they brought me was Earl Grey.
As an appetizer, we ordered the baked brie with toasted bread. What we got was cheese that had been baked to the point it was runny and liquified with giant cloves of garlic in it. We ate it, hoping it would taste better than it looked. Our waiter asked how we liked it, and I told him the truth. Instead of simply taking it off our bill, he said he talked to the chef and brought us another one which was better. It was exactly the same.
Next, for the main course, my husband ordered the vegetable lasagna. He was informed this dish did not have pasta in it, which he was fine with. What they brought him was essentially a bowl of Ragu with a few diced up pieces of zucchini, topped with melted cheese.
When asked if we would like to look at a dessert menu we said yes. One of the options was warm chocolate chip cookies. We thought chocolate chip cookies couldn’t really be screwed up, right? The options were either a half dozen or a baker’s dozen. We asked for a baker’s dozen. What did we receive? A half dozen burnt cookies which were so hot they couldn’t even be touched for several minutes. As we picked through the cookies trying to find pieces less burned to eat the waiter walked by and asked if they had been over-baked. I said, “Absolutely.” Instead of apologizing and offering us new cookies or another alternative, he simply kept walking and brought us our bill, minus the charge for the cookies. So at least there’s that.
With a busy restaurant, it’s always a possibility for mistakes to be made. But we have never been to an establishment which had so many blunders and still charged a premium for badly prepared cuisine. We will never come here again.
