Mex Taqueria & Bar is a 3 story roof deck restaurant located in the heart of Kendall Square Cambridge near MIT University. Mex boasts an amazing selection of tequilas and mezcals as well as craft beers and specialty cocktails. Make sure to check out our roof deck fireplace and Mezzanine lounge next time you are here. Reservation wasn’t honored, reserved for the rooftop, they said it was full when we got there. Sat at the bar to wait, bartender wouldn’t serve us cause we were waiting for the rooftop. Once they said we were good to head up to the rooftop there was no hostess up there so waiting again to be sat. No waiter came over until finally one from another section was like “oh do you guys want something?” No man we’re just here to sit at a table and stare at a menu… got chip and queso as and app and chicken fajitas to share, all the food came out at once, no chips for the queso, no plates or serving utensils for the fajitas, then found a bone in the chicken in the fajitas. They comped the fajitas at least. Thought it would be a nice date night sitting on the roof but apparently it was trivia Tuesday so trivia was blasting through the speakers on all three floors so couldn’t even have a conversation. Do yourself a favor, go literally anywhere else.

Very tasty food. Good portions. Ambiance is festive and airy (our group visited for lunch on a warm day when all of the restaurant's windows were open). The tacos may seem expensive, costing anywhere from $15 to $20+ for two. But they are very generously filled. The tortilla chips are amazingly good with the fresh guacamole they prepare in house. Service was friendly but there were a couple of things that were prepared incorrectly, so I took away one star: a regular margarita was served although a skinny version was ordered, and one burrito came out with the wrong protein. This is an expensive restaurant for Mexican food, but I would return for a special occasion or if my boss is footing the bill.

We went for brunch, which was fine but not spectacular. The horchata French toast was the best by far. The huevos rancheros were mediocre, and the tortilla at the bottom was barely edible. The service was fantastic though. It’s likely better for lunch or dinner, and the bar scene seemed great.

The enchilada was alright...nothing to write home about. The margarita tasted terrible. On the bright side, there was so little actual beverage in the glass (98% ice) that I didn't have to drink much. The restaurant was so loud that the 3 of us couldn't hear one another.

The best inventive Mexican style food I have had in all of Boston. The drinks are also some of the best around. Kudos to these guys for knocking it out of the park. The decor and dual floor atmosphere is pretty amazing.

Really nice find. Love the decor. Great food and fun drinks. Kids had fun a well. They have a lot of non alcoholic “mocktail” selections. We had the queso cheese app, birria, chicken, and steak tacos. Try the mango slushie!!

Trivia night was going on and was distracting and loud. Waitress was average, food was average. Good table upstairs and ambiance was nice but didn’t matter with loud trivia night and average service. Wouldn’t return.

Went here for a birthday celebration and our waiter ruined our experience, didn’t check in on us and when it came time to paying and split the bill our waiter was very hostile and even started arguing with one of our guests. Management tried to step in but even then the entire environment shifted and was no longer pleasant. Professionalism of this establishment is sub par. Wouldn’t recommend for larger groups not to mention the food wasn’t great either Drinks were good standard pricing that’s the only upside to this business.

Came to Mex Taqueria for a team dinner. Food and service were fantastic. As a non-drinker, I was very pleased that asking for a "virgin" version of one of the cocktails was not an issue (try the Rosa Carmina - delicious!) It was pretty loud so it was hard to talk to people who were not right next to you. To be fair, it was trivia night and I was not aware of it when I booked. Overall, a great night among co-workers!

Mex Taqueria and bar is an amazing place to visit with your loved ones on special occasions. I visited this place for my wife’s birthday as she loves Mexican food and margaritas, and our server went above and beyond to host us. Food was delicious and drinks were awesome too. Must visit place in Cambridge.

Overall it was a fantastic restaurant. Service was phenomenal (staff was very friendly, welcoming and attentive). Drinks and food were 5 out of 5. We come from over an hour away, but are still looking forward to making a trip back.

Very sweet waitress but far too busy to accommodate my date and me. I had requested a special spot for this date, but you gave us quite the opposite. Food was excellent, though.

Our server was good. A little soft spoken in a very loud environment. The guacamole was very good but the chips were too thick. The chicken tacos were ok and the Al Pastor tacos were delicious!

First time there. Really enjoyed it. The menu offered a variety of things including some veggie options. There was a very loud party behind us which impacted the enjoyment of our meal. Will go back for sure.
