Metropolis by Marcus Samuelsson is a vibrant contemporary American restaurant from Marcus Samuelsson and Executive Chef Ed Tinoco within the Perelman Performing Arts Center. Metropolis is the culinary anchor of this new cultural cornerstone of Lower Manhattan and is honored to play a role in the final chapter of rebuilding the World Trade Center site. Its menu explores the rich culinary traditions of New York City through a modern lens with theatrical cocktails, a fun and worldly wine list, and gracious hospitality. Brunch is usually a bummer. The menu was sadly limited to lame brunch items, but everything we ate and drank was next-level. Still, though, wish it had been a “real” meal and not brunch!

The food was very good, but the service was ridiculously slow. They didn’t take our food order until an hour after we sat and the restaurant was pretty empty. I expect a higher level of service at a restaurant like that, especially for the prices they charge.

The food was delicious. I ordered the prawn sandwich which ad such amazing flavors and the bar tender, Christian was super nice. I also had the honor of seeing Marcus come into the restaurant and have a little chat. He clearly has created a fantastic institution. The food and people who work there represent him and his attitude and love for food and people. Fabulous I hope they get Michelin star as it is more than well deserved

Our dining experience at Metropolis was wonderful, especially as we were attending an event at PAC NYC that evening. The food was delicious and the presentation was lovely. That being said, we did have two issues. My husband notified our server Rahat that he couldn’t eat food that is too spicy, and he assured us that the branzino we were sharing as our main course would not be spicy. Unfortunately that turned out not to be the case. Additionally, we were very disappointed that the fish was not plated for each of us, and having to do it ourselves proved to be a little messy and challenging. The restaurant did comp us for the dessert after we informed them that the fish had been too spicy, and we certainly appreciate that. Overall, I do look forward to dining at Metropolis again.

We had a wonderful dinner, service was impeccable - professional and informative yet warm and not intrusive. Starting with the Sesame Manhattan cocktail was a great start, and my husband loved the bespoke martinis menu. Our favorite food item was the hamachi tacos. The arctic char also was nicely done. The architecture of the PAC and interior design made it a perfect evening.

Metropolis is phenomenal. The food is creative and delicious. Although prices are somewhat high, the food and ambience justify it. The service is impeccable. We had the Parsnip Agnolotti and the Arctic Char as mains and both were phenomenal. The cucumber salad to start was equally creative and wonderful. It’s a beautiful space and great for date night or any occasion. The restaurant is inside the Perelman Performing Arts Center.

What a wonderful surprise! Our server answered all our questions with a great deal of knowledge and passion for the miscellaneous offerings on the menu. Every dish that came out was beautiful to look at, every single one of the dishes tasted delicious. This will be my new "go to" spot, when I like to take out visitors to NYC.

Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. We listened intently to, and took a lot of our server’s (Marcus) suggestions, all of which were top notch. It is nearly impossible to rank the various aspects of the meal, so indulge yourself by ordering any mix of the following: Sesame Manhattan cocktail, Caesar salad, the Metropolis version of pigs in a blanket, hamachi tacos in cilantro crepes, duck, and the Metropolis version of pasta carbonara. We topped it off with a delectable donut dessert, and could not have been happier with our entire evening. A+!

The restaurant is a lovely, serene venue located within the PAC. As part of a larger institution, my expectations were modest. What a wonderful surprise! The brunch menu is short, but every dish seemed creative. The fried chicken and biscuit dish was exceptional- so interesting, made with a Japanese chili rub. Likely the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. The service was attentive and every server was friendly. Even the espresso, offered with a lemon peel, was perfect. Will certainly go back!

Its been a long long time since I had a more delicious meal than at Metropolis last night. The table was escellently placed and well lighted for my poor eyes. The only thing that bothered me was poor service. we waved to waiters and they ignored my table. saying not my table etc. I have faith in that you will fix this complaint I'll be back David

We found the restaurant to be extremely nice with great food. The lunch menu for entrees was limited. My wife and I both found the Caesar salad appetizer to be the best we ever had.

The food was good but the staff was not warm and not flexible. It was my daughter’s 21st birthday and one of the staff said they would have to charge me a $5/person cake cutting fee if we didn’t use their breakfast pastry. I had noted in my reservation this was a birthday celebration and we’d like a cake or something to put candles in. No one seemed to have read the comments or even cared. I had a tiny grocery store bought mousse that I offered to bring as I live nearby but paying $5/person would have been twice the amt I paid for the tiny “cake” and they would not waive the fee. In the end they bought out a small scoop of ice cream and put the candles on the plate. I’m not sure I’ll return which is a shame given I live in the neighborhood and like their dinner menu.

Overall, this was a very pleasant dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was outstanding. The food was tasty, and presented well in generous portions. We were seated next to the kitchen door at a time when the venue was mostly empty. Several menu items were not available for Sunday Brunch (e.g., the oysters). Due to the convenient location in the same building as the new PACNYC, I expect I will return.

Great location if you are going to a show in the PAC theater upstairs. Beautiful setting, but the food is more style than substance. Slightly expensive, but if you can afford the theater tickets, you can afford the dinner.

Great experience- delicious and different food, conversation friendly, excellent service. Drink prices are high ($26) and there was only one gluten free entree…but I’d still return when attending a show at the PAC.

Great staff and service and food. Love that they acknowledged my husband’s birthday with a dessert and candle and held on to our coats while we enjoyed the show upstairs after dinner

I ordered a cappuccino and babka. The babka was delicious. The cappuccino was delicious also but extremely small for the price. It looked to be about 2 ounces for $7. I ordered the hamburger and fries which were also delicious. Staff was super nice and helpful. I would recommend and eat there again.

Very nice space and decor. The brunch menu is rather small and not well balanced yet. I appreciated the expanded services of PAC and what it will be in the future. A nice spot before a show.

We loved every single thing we had, but they need to work out service issues, which I think were largely related to the restaurant being relatively new. Mains appeared before we were even finished with our starter, which made me feel very rushed. Also, we had told our server when we ordered our cocktails that we would want wine with the mains, but we had to flag her down to place the order, which didn’t appear until we were halfway through the mains. But the overall experience was very good; although it’s a little pricey, portions were generous and the food was excellent. I would definitely return.

Another outstanding Marcus Samuelsson restaurant. Cocktails and food were both first rate. The ambiance is exquisite, and it integrates perfectly with an evening of theater at the glorious new Perelman PAC NYC. A great overall concept. FIVE STARS

We had appetizers before the show…Smoked Hamachi Taco & Blanketed Franks. The taco components were served separately, 4 small slices of hamachi came in a small rectangular box that when opened, billowed smoke pleasantly into my face. Assembly was a bit messy but all the components blended into a delicious bite. At $32, it was pricey. The frank was tasty but did not compare with the tacos. The dining room is a bit generic but tastefully done.
