Metropolis by Marcus Samuelsson is a vibrant contemporary American restaurant from Marcus Samuelsson within the Perelman Performing Arts Center. Metropolis is the culinary anchor of this new cultural cornerstone of Lower Manhattan and is honored to play a role in the final chapter of rebuilding the World Trade Center site. Its menu explores the rich culinary traditions of New York City through a modern lens with theatrical cocktails, a fun and worldly wine list, and gracious hospitality. Designed by David Rockwell, Metropolis features a dazzling yet warmly inviting dining room and a bustling bar, a landscaped outdoor terrace, and a lobby lounge featuring free-to-the-public artistic programming.

We went for lunch and this really isn't a lunch place. Don't know why they open. Very strange to be in large space with barely one other table filled. Menu is very limited. Beautiful day but terrace not open. With that said, food & service good. Go for dinner!

My friend and I enjoyed an early dinner here and thought all the dishes and the environment were superb! We shared all and began with smoked hamachi soft tacos, with rib eye and artichoke char as our main and ended with chocolate soufflé and donuts. The hamachi came out with smoke, small dishes of accoutrements to garnish the taco and each bite was unique and scrumptious. The rib eye was fork tender and artichoke char with uni butter melted in our mouths. And the desserts were perfect as they provided moderately sweet tasting end notes. It was a perfect cap after the performance at Perelman Art Center in the same building.

Metropolis was well worth dining at. The ambiance and service were good. I ordered fried chicken and a biscuit and I was not happy with it. The chicken barely had any meat (it was mostly fat) and the biscuit was just okay. I definitely recommend stopping in before a performance.

We loved this for extraordinary pre-performance cocktails and meal—a delight for the eye, great texture and contrasting tastes. Attentive wait staff also were helpful with menu.

The entire dining experience was wonderful and classic. Our wait staff person was new (2nd day?), charming, and incredibly attentive. The food was remarkable, with a few memorable dishes. Presentations spot on. Lovely place to dine, even without a show at the PAC NYC after, but perfect for pre-theater.
