Metropolis by Marcus Samuelsson is a vibrant contemporary American restaurant from Marcus Samuelsson within the Perelman Performing Arts Center. Metropolis is the culinary anchor of this new cultural cornerstone of Lower Manhattan and is honored to play a role in the final chapter of rebuilding the World Trade Center site. Its menu explores the rich culinary traditions of New York City through a modern lens with theatrical cocktails, a fun and worldly wine list, and gracious hospitality. Designed by David Rockwell, Metropolis features a dazzling yet warmly inviting dining room and a bustling bar, a landscaped outdoor terrace, and a lobby lounge featuring free-to-the-public artistic programming.

Band in lobby was LOUD. Fried chicken was mostly batter, not much chicken!

Having this restaurant in the Perelman Performing Arts Center makes an evening there a full package. The atmosphere is beautiful and the food delicious. Service was attentive as not only the waiter but various managers came over to check on us. A nice addition is that you can hear the singer and musicians playing in the center lobby pre-perfomance. It's location across the street from the World Trade Center Path and subways makes it a super easy destination. Will definitely return.

The restaurant is in the lobby of the new PAC NYC and is most convenient if attending a show. The food choices are somewhat limited but the dishes are all interesting and tasty. The dessert (passion fruit tart with thyme oil) was exceptional. Service is a bit uneven with multiple people coming and going. The restaurant is not particularly noisy but a group singing in the adjacent lobby was ear-splitting.

Booked our table at 5:15 because we had a show at 7pm. Service extremely slow and we had to ask for our appetizers to be cleared while bus boys kept walking past almost ignoring our table. We had to ask for the wine list twice. We didn't have time to try dessert and barely made it to our show. Our server was nice but she was run off her feet. The food however was good. My friend chicken was a dry unfortunately but the summer salad was refreshing.

Extremely disappointed. Danny Meyer once said that it takes a year for a restaurant to get its sea legs. That must be the case here. We ordered an appetizer to share and two entrees. The food is best described as "bland." We were so surprised! Especially since we also went to Red Rooster in the same week and the food there was PHENOMENAL. Also found the service staff to be inattentive and friendly only in a non-genuine way. Perhaps we'll try this restaurant again a year from now.

Everything was great but the menu (lunch) is limited and not impressive. The food was good! It wasn't remarkable like more MS's restaurants. Very standard.

They appear to be very understaffed or at least very poorly distributed. There was one waitstaff the whole resto as far as we could tell. So service was slow. It took them A very long time to take our order. Nobody except the water server visited our table For a very long time. Service was also weird. I couldn’t get the margarita special without the chili oil, and then when I asked for a margarita but with passion fruit juice which is what the special had in it I was told no. Seemed gratuitously rigid and not customer friendly.

This is a luscious restaurant—visually, food, people. It’s simple but excellent. One of my picky eater lunch companions devoured her shrimp roll/sandwich (which I had not seen, ever 😊). I had the Caesar salad with salmon. Yum. And the coffee crème brûlée was extraordinary.
