Merchants Cigar Bar is a sleek, midcentury-styled lounge that transports guests to another time and place with legal indoor smoking, an exquisite cocktail menu, and music playing till the early morning hours .
Merchants offers a well-curated cigar selection from Davidoff—including but not limited to the Grand Cru Toro, WSC Churchill, Aniversario Short Perfecto, and Royal Release Robusto. The selection includes cigars from the Montecristo Classic Series and the Double Chateau Natural & Maduro from Arturo Fuente. Padron brings more options to the table, such as the 1964 and 1926 Anniversaries Series. With tobaccos from almost every corner of the globe, you’re bound to find a cigar that suits your profile and excites your palate.
Complementing the cocktails & cigars is a menu by Executive Chef Antelmo Ambrosio featuring time-honored plates including Steak Tartare prepared table-side, seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras with brandied cherries, and Caviar with all its accoutrements.

It was a disappointing cigar lounge. We went down a flight of stairs into a dark and dingy space. The AC wasn't working, so it was stuffy. A very limited supply of cigars was available. Andrea was the only one on duty, and she was lovely but harried. She alone is not enough to send us back anytime soon. There are so many other great lounges in NYC, like Soho, Carnegie Club, or Macanudo, to choose from. Be aware, POTL!

Hey kdmeit, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're so sorry to hear that your experience at our cigar lounge didn't meet your expectations. Regretfully our air conditioning was briefly under repair but I'm happy to assure you it's back up and functional and our cigar selection is now full again now that the heat doesn't run the risk of damaging them. We appreciate your honesty and will take your comments into consideration as we work to improve our space and offerings and certainly hope you will give us another try in the future.

A nice option for a good drink and a cigar. I wish the cigar selection was a bit more expansive but the service makes up for it. Our server John was awesome. Will definitely be back on our next trip to NYC

I’m a regular at Merchants this place has been my release after a long days work. Yesterday was the 1st time I received an overall TERRIBLE experience. I was charged for multiple items that I did not receive, not only that but there was several patrons with the same issue! How ironic was that?? It seems like it was some sort of scheme that was being played with the servers and it was so not ACCEPTABLE‼️ The attitude from the server when it was brought to his attention MULTIPLE times! In addition to that it was a very limited supply of sugars and most were stale. This was very disappointing, I don’t ever want to give up on this place because I love it so.. Try getting your OLD team back who actually cared about the service and your guest! Kisha H.

We have been going to Merchants Cigar Bar for many years and never had a bad experience. D and John did a phenomenal job taking care of us. They were very attentive and friendly and made our experience very enjoyable. Definitely looking forward to our next visit there with some friends.

We enjoyed the food, cigars and ambience at Merchants. Cocktails were good. Service was OK, not great. However, Merchants is a nice place to hang out and I will come back again.

Dee was a one woman show and still managed to be attentive and helpful as she guided me as well as neighboring guests through the menu offerings with knowledge and personal suggestions. My first option the rib eye wasn’t available so I ordered the hummus with roasted cauliflower, a crab cake which was Dee’s suggestion, veggies and finished off with the lava cake and all were delicious. I ended up here on a whim as it has been on my list (I typically go to soho cigar bar) and wanted to check it out before visiting with friends I also see they have tasting flights and experiences which I’ll be back to try

In summary: No Cabernet Sauvignon whatsoever…Caviar served with potato chips instead of blinis like the menu states…No prawns. Basically, it seemed like a business that’s about to shut down and are selling only what they have left…The 2 stars are for our server, Joseph, who bent over backwards to try to accommodate us as best he could with what they had to offer. Luckily, it was my birthday and I was with the woman I love. Nothing was going to ruin my evening.
