I don’t have the right words to describe this experience. The food was decent and the drinks were strong (good), but something just felt off. My biggest issue is that they have already gone up on prices. They advertise $1 oysters during happy hour, but they were $2 which is a deal that I can find at other Nashville restaurants. To add, the happy hour combo pricing is different than the menu online by about $4-$5. It’s not a huge amount, but it’s irritating to go into a restaurant expecting one thing and receiving another. The decor didn’t seem to match the vibe of the restaurant - it seemed forced. We went right at opening and they had trash and various objects just sitting around. The restaurant is also in a semi-weird area so parking was not the best. I didn’t have a terrible experience but it wasn’t great either - just average. If I had to choose between butchertown hall & mercado, i’d go with butchertown hall.

Loved Mercado, would absolutely go back! The margs were great and not too sweet. Don’t sleep on the churros either! Docked 1 star because they don’t double tortilla their tacos so you can’t pick it up and eat it without it completely falling apart. Flavors in the pork tacos were amazing though, loved the pineapple salsa!

The portions were very small. The margaritas were maybe 2 oz with the ice. The flavors and taste were good. It’s a nice vibe, rooftop is definitely the highlight. On the main level the concrete does make it very cold on a cold day so wear a coat.

This place has MAJOR potential. The Happy Hour deals are worth the price of admission. We went Sunday at 4pm and it was very quiet. The inside is very vibey and "extremely cute" as my fiance would say. Food was good, and our server was very nice. My only knocks is the food took a long time, and nothing came out at the same time. We ordered the HH Oysters, which were a steal of a deal... I think they only had one shucker, so it took awhile. I dig it though, since I am very patient... I would go back in a heartbeat.

We had a great experience at Mercado! Very fun vibe and great food! The queso and drinks were amazing, and I loved my Baja fish tacos and oysters! My only complaint is the lack of flexibility with the menu - can’t sub sides or mix taco selections. Overall, a great place and I’ll definitely go back!

Pros: Vibe was great and staff were all very nice. Mkt fish (Peruvian trout) was very good and the guac was great. Cocktail / wine options were great. Cons: All of the salsa trio were pretty spicy, having one more mild option would be ideal. The queso was very runny and even with chorizo in it, had little flavor. Elotes was over cooked /dry and should not be served on the cob. The flavor punch I equate with Butchertown just wasn’t quite the same.

Beautiful restaurant. Wonderful service. The food was very spicy- to the point where it was difficult to enjoy. Need options for “mild”. Very expensive drinks for the size.

Went for brunch the first weekend and it was just as good as their dinner. We didn’t get to indulge in the bottomless mimosas, but can’t wait to return for that + another great brunch!

Queso and Elote Tostada were solid, need better vegetarian options. The Sweet Potato taco looked great but was just a taco shell and sweet potato puree. Should also maybe incorporate some kind of latch on the side of the table to hold the chip basket, it would create a lot more space on a 2 top.

To be fair, this review is on day 2 of brunch service. The tacos w/Barbacoa were delish but runny. The tacos with bacon had some bacon pieces that were too tough to eat. The salsa that was served with the tacos was hot. That was the mildest salsa they had and it was too hot for me and my friend. The queso and chips were yum, as well as the couple of oysters. The table was quite small. Our trays were both hanging off, because we still had the queso that had come out shortly before the meal. The chairs were odd and more for reclining than sitting up straight. I will go back and may ask for a different seating area with more space that is comfortable. The service was good. The parking is on the street.

First day of brunch service. Excellent service and excellent food! The posole and Caesar salad are delicious! Could use some more draft beer options. Looking forward to returning for dinner.

The Baja fish tacos are phenomenal! Started off with the fresh guacamole and a strawberry margarita. Easily one of my favorite places in Nashville!

Overall it was a good experience and I would give this place between 3-4 stars. Queso was bomb and oysters were fresh. Just thought everything was extremely overpriced. I think you can find great Mexican or Tex Mex in Nashville for significantly cheaper so I don’t think we’d return for that reason. Glad we tried it though.

We loved the house margaritas, chips and guacamole, fish tacos, and chicken tinga tacos! I was impressed with the flavor and booziness of the margaritas. Our server was great — friendly and helpful in deciding our orders. The only hiccup was the water glasses were small, and we had to ask for refills a few times. Eventually they left the decanter for us to pour ourselves. Overall, we look forward to coming back.

Another Nashville restaurant disappointment. Went with high hopes. Oysters were fresh and good. But, I still cringe at $4.25 oysters where the meat is the size of my big toe nail. Ceviche Mixto had ok flavor, but was touted as mixed ceviche and was 95% shrimp with two little pieces of octopus. Drinks just ok. Fish tacos were equivalent of Oscar's Taco Shop (which are good) but double the price ($25 for three!). The kicker was the Brisket. I had wanted Mussels but they had given me an old menu. Not offered any more. So I had to compromise and ordered 'famous' Butchertown brisket. It came out a small portion, dry and leathery. But, since our server hadn't bothered to come back to check on us once our entrees were served, I couldn't tell him it was not good. Once he did finally return, I discussed politely what my impression was. Knowing that I didn't get my first choice, settled for brisket and it was poor, I had hope he'd suggest another entree or offer to get me a replacement (I had seen orders with nice juiciness ready to be served as I went to the restroom). Instead, we were offered complimentary churros. So, they saved $14 of revenue by 'giving me' $12 of dessert instead of making the entree fail correct. As noted above. Another Nashville restaurant disappointment.

It was so cute inside. Great cocktail and food was good. Pricey, but that may just be Nashville! Our server was not very attentive or at all. So that was a bummer. Otherwise would go again! Great decor!

We saw a server that wasn’t ours literally pick up the oysters on the half shell on the bar counter with his bare hands and touch and sniff them then directly serve them to his table. It was pretty gross. Drinks were average, food was pricy for what you got. Pretty disappointing

UPDATED: The Director of Operations reached out and personally apologized, and sent a gift card to come visit again. On second visit we had a far better experience and would definitely come back!! Our 10 person birthday reservation was incorrectly entered in Mercado's systems and they had assigned our party of 10 to a 2 person table. They were only able to accommodate us outside on a chilly night, with the promise of heaters (although none were close to where we were seated). After that start, rather than getting an attentive team intent on fixing their mistake, our service was slow and underwhelming. As a result, we were only able to order two rounds of drinks despite having a desire to order more. They did offer us 3 appetizers on the house, but the queso took upwards of 20 minutes because the server stated he "forgot it in the window". Overall, we came in planning to spend big but as a result of the experience ended up cutting our losses and getting in and out as quickly as we could. We work in the hospitality industry and understand that mistakes happen, but it did not seem like Mercado really cared at the end of the day. We would love to give a better review as the food was good and not too expensive, and we love the rooftop bar. Ultimately, this was not a good experience and one that makes us hesitate to return.

The food was very tasty. Unfortunately, the service was extremely poor. It took 15 minutes to get a server once we were seated and only because we notified someone that we haven’t been served. Our server really did not appear to be interested in serving us. It really marred the experience.

The place was extremely quiet and I can see why. My app-sized mussel entree was $25 and contained only 11 small black mussels. That's over $2 per mussel. Insanely expensive for anywhere and especially a casual place. They also don't let you mix and match tacos, so if you want three, they have to all be the same variety. Very disappointed because the menu looked delicious.

Great ambience for a cute date with your partner or a group of friends. Had the chicken tinga tacos and a mango margarita. My partner had the smash burger. 10/10
