Meat On Ocean is a meat-centric, modern steakhouse in Santa Monica that offers both a sense of adventure and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Beyond the offerings of a world-class steakhouse, Meat On Ocean features an artisanal charcuterie bar, an exhibition dry-aging room and a variety of prime beef – from dry-aged domestic cuts to Japanese A-5. Integral to the operation is a highly trained crew of servers and butchers, who communicate directly with Guests about the beef, organically farmed chickens, house made sausages, choice seafood and more.

Let's start with the food. It was okay and as expected. we had lunch and dinner a few times at this restaurant, and most of the time it was ok. I have no complaints about the quality of the food. However, the service was pretty slow, what made our experience bad, was the audacity of the valet parking lady who asked us to call 3 minutes before we were about to leave so they could get our car, and when we got out, she told us that it will take at least 15 minutes to get it, but IF WE PAY HER EXTRA SHELL GET IT FASTER. I wonder how a restaurant let a valet ruin its reputation by the Crooks that run their valet. So the next time I'll be in Santa Monica and want a steak, I'll find a nicer restaurant. One that respects its customers

The food was ok butt overpriced. When seated we were told bread was coming. It never did. $82 for 12 oz of ‘American wagyu’ ribeye. I ordered medium well. It wasn’t, which was surprising for a place that specializes… $12 for a Cup (yes, a cup) of French fries. The ribeye was OK, but not for the price. The oysters were small and didn’t seem fresh the crab cake was very good. Mastro’s Ocean club’s wagyu and oysters are bigger and better tasting. Nobu’s steaks and oysters are much better. I spent about $400 for a lunch for 2 people. I don’t mind spending that much at Nobu or Mastro’s but it didn’t feel like this restaurant justified the price with what we received. It felt like a tourist destination, with prices geared to drain the tourists, who wouldn’t mind. It’s not a place for those who like to get what they pay for.

Great ambiance and yummy steak. They tend to cook on the well side so if you usually go medium rare, I’d ask for rare. But very good steak regardless

Fantastic food. However on two visits (lunch - not busy & dinner - busy) we found initial time from seating to serving of drinks was long and unpleasantly slow. Server asked before we had even had thirty seconds with a menu, so both times we asked for a minute. 15 minutes later they reappeared. Then it takes another 10 for the drinks to manifest. We waited 20 minutes at lunch and over 25 at dinner — just for drinks. So either go with your drink order ready right away or be prepared to wait. Food is exquisite. Crab cakes, steak tacos, salads, T-bone steaks all perfect. We also really enjoyed the rich chocolate layer cake for dessert with dinner. Aside from slow service — both at lunch and dinner — we found each meal to be top-notch, and worth the price tag.

Very nice food. Great place to go. Service was fast and friendly. Would suggest it to anyone who likes really good steak.

Amazing cocktails, steaks and sauces. Great customer service. Accommodating to our request for patio seating. They comped our dessert since we were celebrating a special occasion and that was much appreciated! We’ve been here several times and it’s consistently a wonderful experience. We will be back!

Food was really mediocre in proportion to the exorbitant prices. The wagu ribeye was as flat as a skirt steak, and as small as a pancake. Ridiculous for $92. The service was perfectly pleasant but again, not up to par. Clearly a place that is trading on its location and has let the food and service falter well below the price tags that it has only increased. Won’t return.

Excellent food and service. Drinks were terrific as well. You can’t beat the view either! If you’re looking for a steak - or anything else really, Meat On Ocean is a winner.

A great place to eat and hang out. Ocean views and people watching along Ocean if you grab one of the tables on that side. Hard to beat

Consistent quality. Steaks cooked perfectly. Great service and we like the atmosphere. They put Del Friscos out of business.

We had a spectacular time! The food and service was amazing!!! If you like meat and good food this is your place. Amazing corkage policy and service. If you bring your own wine, plan on tipping extra. I ended up tipping 64% because the service was there and soo good, that it felt like this was an incredible value for a 3 1/2 hour dinner! This is THE place for high quality aged meats in LA.

I have visited here with my husband during the honeymoon but it was a VERY uncomfortable experience for us. All dishes are not bad but service perspective. First we asked the steak at the middle of medium and mediam raw but he(server) said that's a medium plus(I don't know why). And also we have found that there are some bread served in the tables except ours! So I asked him again and he answered that breads served when customer request typically. Bit weird. I have double check with manager after dining and she confirmed it used to be served in dinner regardless any request. If he says sorry at first when not to serve the bread, it doesn't matter. But he lies to us and it makes us feel very uncomfortable. Manager said sorry to us instead but would be better if server did not lie.

This is the second time I have dined at this restaurant food and service are phenomenal. Had the bone in ribeye and the lamb chops. Could not have been better.

Once again, an epic night at Ocean. Kevin took care of us, as did server Frankie. Our booth was perfect and the food typically fantastic. The Dry Aged Bone In Ribeye was stellar, as were the drinks.

So much better than last time. I vowed not to dine here again but my friends really wanted to eat here. Pleasantly surprised. Just the noise level where we were seated was super loud.

Meat on Ocean is a wonderful steakhouse (but try the combo of the Kielbasa appetizer with a small steak, a sausage and steak entree). The clam chowder is the best in the city. No corkage for BYOB wine; but be sure to tip as if you bought it there (the server works just as hard to open your wine as for something you picked off the wine selection). Custom cut steaks are a reliable novelty.

Arriving for our Friday 1pm lunch we walked into a cavernous room …well appointed but empty for 6 patio tables …we should have left then….owned by the same corp as Kings Fish House but emphasizing steak …the food was both recognizable and upcharged with added items … Our crab legs and wagyu steak orders with sides of whipped potatoes, cauliflower,asparagus and mushrooms while flavorful sent us both to the bathroom numerous times once we came home …the best thing of the experience was the service …

Lovely restaurant if you are a meat lover like my husband who is a butcher in the UK, they even let him view the dry aged beef! Lovely vibe and great service as well as delicious food, I would highly recommend.
