Very original menu with thought towards meeting all tastes including vegan. We stuck with Tapas this time around, far too much to also order an entrée on top of them. Very nice evening.

The service and ambience was fantastic. The appetizers were okay but the main courses were very disappointing. The food overall lacked flavor.

Poor quality for a high price. 1. We reserved "Experience La Buena Vista" which is supposed to be the best seat in the house, instead got the very first seat in the restaurant which had a view of the stairs. 2. It was our Anniversary and unlike high end places like The Grove who make it special with glasses of champagne, MDRD just put a cheesy placard on the table. 3. They cooked my steak nearly well done instead of medium. I should have said something, but at a place I'm paying $200+ for a meal, I shouldn't have to. Even Mid-tier restaurants will wait for you to cut into your meat to make sure it's cooked to your liking. Nope, they just explained the dish and dropped it off.

Atmosphere and ambiance was wonderful. Service was impeccable. However, the quality and taste of food opposite the price was disappointing for all three in our party. Would suggest not to pair butterbean mash with any dish (filet) as it was bitter and not a pleasure to eat. Cowgirl ribeye was ordered medium rare but was served medium. Would have sent it back but did not want to disrupt our special event.

Went to MDRD for our anniversary. Overall, the experience was good. We noted in OpenTable that it was our anniversary and when seated they had a little celebratory note. The waiter was great and the experience between meals was excellent. I thought the food was pretty good and very artistic with the plating as well. I knew what I was getting into with the price range but I can say being charged $2 for an ice rock in my drink, per drink, is a first for me. It would’ve settled better in my head by just charging $2 more for my drinks. Just a heads up, the OpenTable menu I was reviewing does not match the current menu (no duck breast right now). That could be an OpenTable issue though. If you want a good view of Grand Rapids you won’t beat this view…even if you just go up for cocktails.
