Since 1970. It has been our pleasure to serve the freshest and most delicious Italian and Sicilian food available. It really started before 1970, when Tommaso "Mazzi" Ernandes decided to set out from his home in Favignana, a little island about 12 miles off the westernmost tip of Sicily. His son, Frank, attended the University of Oregon in Eugene and, after graduating, decided to open a little Italian restaurant named after his father. Papa wanted to be where the action was and took Mama with him. They loved to help around the restaurant. Many of our recipes are adapted from the families of Papa and Mama Mazzi, and originate from Favignana. Each dish carries the homemade stamp of quality usually found only in the Italian home kitchen. That is why we like to say that when you are at Mazzi's, you are in our home. The food is made for you as it has always been prepared for our own family. We use the finest ingredients we can buy. Our vegetables are fresh and, when in season, usually from our own farm or the local area. The fresh basil, which is the main ingredient in our pesto, is grown on our own family farm. Our tomato products are grown and packed by a small Italian family-owned farm. Our bread is baked in our kitchen early each morning. We make our Italian sausage according to the recipe from our cousin, Franco Ernandes of Favignana, and our fettuccine is made daily on a little pasta machine from Italy. So, when we say "We hope you enjoy our food," we want you to know that we are talking about the food of our family, our history, our heritage.

One of the entrees was supposed to be eggplant which had a very strange taste and texture. Entree was exchanged for a different item without any problem which was appreciated. Sorry that the eggplant did not taste good and was unacceptable.

Food was absolutely delicious and the place was beautiful. I was there a bit longer than I planned as we didn’t get checked on as much as I would have liked but it seemed like our waitress was pretty busy so I don’t blame her.

Our Friday dinner reservation meant we would be in at a busy time. However, the food was very good. The eggplant Parmesan was the best I ever tasted. Our salad needed more dressing but was a generous serve. Mazzi's meals are always hearty.

We expected better. Have been here before and really enjoyed the food and service. Last night was a disappointment because the pasta sauce was too much like tomato paste and the salmon was over cooked and dry. Service was a slow (they were very busy), but if the food had been good, it would have been fine because it a a cozy place to sit and chat.

We were celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary and everything was perfect. We had a 5 PM reservation and were seated immediately in the back room as requested. Our waitress Maddie was delightful and efficient. We shared the large Ceasar salad (it was delicious) and we both had the short ribs that were ridiculously tasty. My second time ordering the ribs and my husbands first he loved them so much I thought he was going to lick the plate. Finished the meal with vanilla Panna Cotta with berrie compote that was just the ticket for our delightful anniversary dinner. Thanks to the staff at Mazzi's for making our day special.

We have been eating at Mazzi's for 46 years and never have been disappointed. It's one of our favorite places. The lasagna and linguini/meat sauce/meatball were perfect, and the wine selection was excellent.

Always first rate! Service is attentive without being intrusive. Brett is great at anticipating the table's needs. Fast bar with perfect drinks. The food is always well-prepared and the prices are almost too reasonable. Can't wait to return!

We arrived on time, and they had our seating area set up perfect next to the fireplace as I asked for our anniversary the weight staff was excellent maître seating again had it all set up for us service was beyond exceptional, and our waiter treated us as we were as if we were the only ones there an excellent menu excellent food and service. We've been going there since 1972 and it's one of the only establishments that stayed true to its taste and customer care.

My wife and I have eaten at Mazzi's for 45 years. It was the go to restaurant for our family. Serving were always generous and delicious. In that time many changes have occurred in staffing and food preparation. Though Mazzi's is a very fun Italian restaurant, I remember when the chef was a one of the best in Eugene. Hie food flavors were seasoned to a level where they were sophisticated and nuanced beyond the typical Italian food kind of place. Meals now are still generous with quality ingredients but as not full flavored. I remarked after our recent meal, What happened to aroma of garlic wafting through the restaurant?" The scent of Italian spices needs to come back and provid the proper ambiance for Eugene's best known Italian restaurant.

We had a lovely dining experience - at a romantic table for two in front of the fireplace. A cheese and garlic appetizer, followed by by seafood pasta. We customized the sauce, no problem. Both dishes were delicious, and the kitchen split our pasta into two plates, no charge. Our second or third time here, and always a very positive experience.

The restaurant looked very pretty. Our server was wonderful. The only disappointment was the fact that there was no meat lasagana or short ribs. Those are two of their most popular items and would have expected that the kitchen would have prepared plenty for the holiday dinner. My husband had the steak special and it was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Again, our server was very nice and attentive.

We were celebrating our friends 43rd anniversary, and we wanted a very special experience. We were greeted with great service and they acknowledged the anniversary celebration a few times. We had reservations through Open table and had no issues. The food was authentic and delicious, from the appetizer to the desserts...coffee was so good and strong. The bottle of wine and dessert hit the spot! The price for everything we had was just fine. The decorations, ambiance and clientele was just right. Upscale but not stuffy. We loved it!!! Make sure you make a reservation before you go. Definitely, will be back.

Mazzi's has been operating since the early 1970's when founded by Frank Hernandez. As a kid it was my families Sunday night dinner and celebration favorite. The family recipes, fresh ingredients and Italian passion for experiencing vs just consuming food was the standard. The core menu were artisan pizza and red sauce based pasta dishes. ( any dish could be made with clam or alfredo)Ordering dinner started with salad or minestrone, fresh bread rolls and was capped off with spumoni ice cream. In the late 1980's unique specials allowed the more adventurous to expand their palettes. Eugene can thank Frank for having a hand in bringing the Eugene community Ambrosia and Excelsior. Mazzi's remains in name only. The multitude of management and ownership changes has taken its toll. A skeleton of core menu remains but the preparation, presentation and flavors can be found at any Italian chain for a better price point. Our party of ten was seated promptly by friendly staff. We started with Calamari and a persimmon based version of a Caprese with Prosciutto which were paired with several craft cocktails. Unfortunately we also selected the Deconstructed Bruschetta. This dish is a major failure as the amount of raw garlic was so over powering it can still be tasted the next morning. The caesar salads were well portioned but the watered down dressing had minimal flavor profile. The main dishes covered the spectrum. All were delivered as ordered. I had the Bolognese which as a disappointment. My table mates had the Lasagne which had a cold core, the crispy eggplant was tasty but the red sauce had too much tomato paste and the entree caesars with chicken were topped with cubes of bland chicken/croutons that could not be eaten without cutting. Highlight was the Spaghetti in meat sauce. Dessert offerings were traditional. Please tell me how you think that a pane-cotta and a tiramisu can be prepared and presented like a pudding cup. Cheese cake was the star.

Took our grandchildren for an early dinner of one giant meatball and spaghetti and three personal pizzas. Our table was ready when we arrived and the service was great. We had a very pleasant dinner and the food was very good.

This is wonderful place for evening dining. Even greater is that they now have on-line reservations --that even worked !! in that even tho the parking lot was overflowing full when we arrived [at the appointed time], our table AND server were ready and waiting. The food was wonderful as always -- especially the beef short-ribs that I never would have imagined as being THE specialty of as Italian-themed restaurant. AND they again have true spumoni ice cream to go with expresso for dessert.

We enjoyed a simple and very tasty dinner of Mazzi's house salad with wonderful bleu cheese dressing and their Deluxe pizza ... outstanding ... and a bottle of Chianti to top it off. Great experience!

Mazzi's is always a favorite to take friends and family who are visiting Eugene and special occasions. Love the decor, fireplace, service, menu and selections. Yummy freshly baked bread...can't leave without trying a dessert!

Mazzi's is one of my favorite restaurants. The food and service never disappoint. The ambiance is perfect for anything from a first date to a joyous celebration of a special event.

They didn’t have any lasagna, the fettuccine was bland and the pizza was burnt. Took a very long time to get our food once we ordered. Just very expensive for the average overall experience.

Used to go more often, been a while! Should have ordered Italian food, like pizza,pasta etc., but ordered salmon! Just didn’t care for the way it was prepared! Not to our liking! To be fair, in the past, liked calzone , pizza!
