I've come here both with my vegan friends and without. I'm not a vegan but the food here is delicious. I really loved the matzo ball soup special during Passover, I would say it's the best matzo ball soup I've ever had. Wonderful wines by the glass. Amazing pita bread. Love the current special hummus with sweat potato.

Food and service was impeccable as always but the wine is one step above the greatest. They always have the best wine selection and we keep coming back for more. Highly recommend!

Mazel is such a wonderful restaurant! The staff is welcoming, warm, and friendly. The food is absolutely delicious and amazing, the wine list is excellent, and the ambiance is relaxed and fun. Love the back patio when the weather is nice. Thank you Hanni and Tal and the whole staff!

We had a great experience at Mazal. Every dish was absolutely delicious. The owner came to introduce himself and service was excellent. They also catered to dietary issues which was helpful. Fun place, good vibes. Definitely going back!

As far as vegan/vegetarian food, this is fairly elevated fare. The food is well-presented and the staff quite nice. The space is modern and sleek with an open kitchen. We were seated in a far corner, so it was difficult to get the staff's attention at times. The acoustics are noisy and also, the open kitchen created heat and smoke, so the atmosphere felt a bit close at times. Still a bit of a hidden gem here.

Mazal is our favorite restaurant for date night. We were at Mazal's Valentine's Day, fixed menu event last year. We loved all the specialty dishes and service so much that we made plans to return again this year. We loved it. My wife and I decided we will make Mazal our Valentine's Day tradition from now on. We also dine at Mazal throughout the year. We love bringing friends and out of towners to Mazal because we know everyone will love the food. Mazal is a very special place for us. The owner/Chef/staff are all so sweet and friendly too.

I love this restaurant but I thought the pre-fixe Valentines menu was a little lackluster. The bread and vegan bourekas were really good. The eggplant in the main course was a little bland and the baklava was a little dry. I am looking forward to returning to the regular menu.

We are usually big fans of this restaurant but have noticed a drop off in quality lately. We were also disappointed to find that when we dined with them our only option was a pre fixe menu; we had no notice when we made our reservation. Overall a disappointing dining experience from a restaurant we used to love.

Back for an encore with our visitors. The food was once again a dream – the service definitely less and remained a dream. While Mimi was on the front super nice, she was very impatient with our party of 7. And while an automatic 25% tip is added to parties of six and more, there was little attention to deserve that. Plates were not changed between main and dessert, silverware was not provided for shared items, a dirty knife was accidentally dropped on one of the participants without even an excuse or help to clean the clothes, water remained low … Again, 5 stars for the food which asks for returns, but the guest relations and service skills are at best 3 stars and have a lot of room for improvements. PREVIOUS REVIEW A gem in a place where you would not expect it. This wonderful Israel-based vegetarian restaurant offered a nice selection of food items. We chose the stuffed grape leaves and the hummus: The hummus was creamy and delicious, but the warm and fluffy pita bread was simply unbeatable. For mains, we went with the harissa sprouts – wow a nice touch of spiciness! – as well as the fig flatbread. The street appearance and entry are already a stark contrast to the neighborhood, the atmosphere on the inside is cool, modern, and there is a nice and a bit more quiet outdoor area.

Our go-to restaurant. There seem to be fewer and fewer good, reliable, affordable vegetarian restaurants. Mazal is a gem.

The food was absolutely phenomenal. Every time I come here the wine is exceptional. when Mazal first opened, I thought the food was hit or miss, but I took my gf there last night and every dish we ordered was amazing. We live down the street and will be coming here a lot now :)

A gem in Lincoln Heights. The staff were warm, welcoming, and responsive. The atmosphere is cozy, hip, and comfortable. The food is outstanding. They have indoor and outdoor seating, along with a large bar area. Mazal offers catering and party space! I can't wait to return. :)

Yet another wonderful meal at Mazal! The food is creative and delicious, the service is attentive and very professional, and the atmosphere is energetic and fun. Personal favorites are the labneh with fried olives and crispy onions, the hamin, and any vegetable dish you could think of! The pita bread and humus are wonderful, too. Excellent wine list with unexpected finds, as well.

Honestly, service was terrible. Once seated by the hostess, we weren't given a menu and no waiter/waitress came over to talk to us. We finally asked found the hostess and asked for a menu, still no waiter. Eventually we got a waitress, but they almost never came back to our table to check in, get us more drinks, anything. The chef in the open kitchen eventually noticed that we were looking for a waitress and stepped in. I could literally see our waitress and others just talking in the corner, not doing their jobs (for any tables). Food was overpriced. Serving a massive plate a brussel sprouts for 20$ and calling it a main? Just because your are a vegetarian restaurant doesn't mean you should be able to sell veggies for exorbitant prices.

Food was tasty, healthy and perfect for family style dining. Outdoor seating is very festive and charming. Service was spotty. Servers were kind and helpful IF you could get them to your table (this was the challenge even on a quiet, slow service night). Our only major complaint would be that we brought in a pie for a friend’s birthday and they charged us a cake cutting fee PER guest which is pretty outrageous (it should never be per guest). Overall I would recommend as a place for a casual, low key gathering.

Mazal continues to amaze. Last night, we tried the grilled pita with za’atar with turmeric tahini for the first time. The flavors go on and on, with notes of earthiness, green goodness and comfort. We also had the halva sufganiyot. Incredible! What a combo. Mazal is both traditional and inventive, homey and modern. I wish them continued good fortune.
