Very cute restaurant in a very cute part area of tribeca. Super old school OG with fun twists for food. I will say the eggplant was cold when it got to the table and I felt the pastas could have had a bit more flavor. The lamb chops were incredible. Fun to go, but I dont think i will be back.

Horrible experience - bad service - tried to kick us out after 1.5 hours of sitting down in a large group- management was terrible to find resolution of moving to bar, asking us to leave immediately without finding alternative options

I ordered the orrechetti and it had no flavor with the pasta and sausage. The broccoli rabe was so bitter I couldn’t eat the entree. I told one of the staff and he had zero reaction, which was unfortunate. The volume was also out of control. We couldn’t hear each other without screaming. So disappointed.

Was not expecting Max to be crowded on a cold Tuesday night, but it was packed. Luckily we had a reservation. Noise level was high, but not too bad to converse. Service was great and the food even better.

Outstanding food with broad menu Am from RI and used to very good Italian food and this was among best I have had in NYC waiter recommended chicken parmigiana ( not listed on menu) which was outstanding- very tender and generous portion Will definitely return - was worth the trip from Midtown where stayed

Such a cozy neighborhood gem! Ambiance, food, service, crowd, all a great experience. Our servers were kind and helpful talking us through the dishes. Our favorites of what we ordered were the gnocchi, fettuccini, and prosciutto and melon. Drinks were great, too! Will be bookmarking this spot.

One of my favorite restaurants to visit every time I'm in New York! Small and quaint, food is amazing. The bruschetta and Ravioli ai Porcini are the best!

Max is our favorite Italian restaurant in the city. The hostess makes every time we come by feel really special and welcoming. The food is the most comforting, perhaps worldwide, and we will always be returning.

Food was good. Place was crowded and we were sat near the door on a cold night, so we were chilly for the entire meal. Ravioli was great, gnocchi was just ok.

We likely would’ve missed this hidden gem in NYC, if it weren’t recommended to us by a friend. Max was part of the “A Team” in our opinion. Delicious fresh food, tasty cocktails, cozy ambience and top drawer service made for an enjoyable evening!
