We’re known for wood-fired pizzas, mini burgers, fresh salads and chef-inspired entrées, like pan-seared sea bass and oven-roasted filet mignon. It’s American bistro fare, crafted from high quality ingredients with a chef at the helm in every kitchen.

Matchbox draws in passersby with oversized windows lining the sidewalk and a front-row view of the blazing pizza oven. Once indoors, the vibe remains warm and residential, as though guests are being welcomed into the Matchbox home. The design achieves this effect through elements like draperies to soften some of the more industrial edges and add texture, open shelving and wine displays, light gray wood wainscotting, and hardwood flooring throughout to lend natural warmth. Hand-painted murals from local artists add further context to the neighborhood, and bring in a touch of personality as well.

Outdoor seating on patios along both Woodmont Avenue and Elm Street offer plentiful people-watching in warmer months.

We had a great Mother’s Day brunch. Our server was wonderful and very attentive, and the food was delicious.

Had lunch with a friend. Both of us ordered salads that were approx $24 each, which I think is high for lunch and for what we received. I ordered a glass of wine, priced at $17 or $18 (again, a bit high) for a 5oz pour, and our server asked if I wanted 8oz (priced at $24). I said just the 5oz pour, and that is what she brought. But when I got home (we were talking, so I didn’t pay close attention to the bill) I saw that I had been charged $24 for the 8oz glass. The place was not at all busy, so I don’t understand the reason for the error. Very disappointed.

Our server, Tequila was delightful! She made the experience for our table. She was informed about the menu, made excellent recommendations, and did everything to make us comfortable. We remember the very first Matchbox in the DMV. It has changed to have the look and feel of a chain. Not as exceptional as it was. However, staff has maintained a high level of hospitality.

Well, the food was good when it arrived properly. One order almost totally mixed up, then the correction took forever. Service was spotty with long periods of disappearing staff. And then little to no acknowledgment of the order screw-up. All it takes is "I'm sorry..." Overly loud sound track which, when the place is less than half full, was not necessary.

Matchbox was able to modify our reservation from 4 people to 5 only 20 minutes before we were to arrive. We were seated in a roomy booth that could have comfortably sat 8 people. The waitstaff were patient in taking our orders and accommodating in providing us with separate bills. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Don’t order the cinnamon rolls, they were hard as rocks after 2 mins, I sent them back after demonstrating that my fork could not pierce the top. Lol. The breakfast potatoes were burnt and crispy and the coffee was bitter. The eggs over medium was great. Overall 2 out of 5. I know matchbox brunch to be better at other locations, this one was disappointing.
