Mare is a great restaurant. I have been there before. Took my family plus a couple friends to dinner. Very good seafood however do not ever order the lobster roll. It was minced lobster meat and not a lot. Has anyone ever had a minced meat lobster roll. It was like tuna from a can. I told the waiter who was very nice I did not want my bill adjusted but this item should never be on their menu. They are better than that. I can get a better lobster roll with big chunks of lobster at legal seafood in Boston airport. Mincemeat lobster roll is just bizarre and also was not good at all. It was like they took leftover lobster bits from other dishes and put them in a roll. ordered an arugula salad with light dressing. The salad came drenched and swimming in dressing and inedible. Ended up eating French fries for dinner. The rest of my party liked their food and the their seafood was great. This is just such a misstep by such an upscale seafood restaurant and typically a very good one. It’s worth a visit just do not order the lobster roll.

The food was very good but the service was atrocious. Our server, Juan, paid little attention to our table. He talked with his coworkers in front of us while we had empty plates and glasses on the table. When a server is describing specials to me I expect the description to be accurate. Our server had us under the impression that the spicy tomato sauce spaghetti with the shelled lobster had peices of lobster in it. Instead we got our spaghetti with a lobster on it. Our server failed to tell us that the dish was $60 too. If I'm paying that price I don't want to have to deshell the lobster myself. We didn't receive any de-shelling tools until we asked for them. That was after we had waited 10 minutes for our server to come and check on us. Overall the food and environment was good but the service was embarrassingly bad.

I love love love Mare. I always have good experiences there. This one was a little different. Our server was clearly rushing us out. We usually like to start with raw bar and apps then put in entrees. He said the kitchen is “very behind “ and we should put everything in at once. The kitchen did not seem behind at all the food was coming out reasonable timing for us and the others around us. We basically stuffed our faces and left within 45 minutes because we had to put everything in at once. Not the usual experience it’s typically our favorite place
