Located within the retail and entertainment complex American Dream and adjacent to Meadowlands Sports Complex, Marcus Live Bar & Grille serves as a culinary centerpiece for visitors and an escape from city life. Led by Chef Marcus Samuelsson and with a menu emblematic of his personal cooking style, Marcus Live features everything from oysters on the half shell and tavern-style pizza to an assortment of steaks and barbecue to a selection of his signature items like Brown Sugar Wings and Old Bay Crab Cakes. Loud food was good. Appetizers great. Service was slow at first trying to get a server but once found service was great.

The restaurant had the music turned up so loud, it registered 85-90dB on my NIOSH sound meter app on my phone. That's the equivalent of being right next to a lawnmower or a hairdryer. And there was no reason for it, since the place was almost empty at 7pm on a Friday. I asked the manager if they always kept it that loud, and he said yes, that's where they set it it, sorry if you don't like it. The only time I ever registered a noise level that loud was at a packed NYC bar. It's ridiculous to suffer through that at an empty restaurant in a mall. It's too bad; the food was actually pretty good, but no way we'll be back. Question: has Marcus ever visited this restaurant?

Good cocktails… nice enough waiter but food was not great… steak was like eating a shoe… salad not fresh… kids food and cornbread were the highlights…

We were excited to visit this new restaurant because I’m very familiar with the name behind the storefront. We were a bit disappointed because of the lack of variety in the menu, and the prices were pretty high for the casual food on the menu. With barely anyone in the restaurant, our service was not the best. We kept reminding the staff of the forgotten items that were ordered and they even mixed up our drinks so we started drinking others orders. The meat that was ordered seemed very overcooked and dry. We did like, however the dessert and the cornbread.

Food was amazing and the service was absolutely fantastic. I thought the value for money exceeded expectations, given the location. The wings lived up to the hype as did the cornbread. My wife tried the catfish special and I had the shrimp and grits. No faults to be found! My only knock would be the outside noise from the mall. We dined during a cheer competition on the main stage in the mall level 1 and it was extremely loud in the restaurant. I wasn't expecting a quiet atmosphere, however, I also wasn't expecting to not be able to hear the waiter when they were trying to take my order.

The food is amazing. We were extremely happy with the meat platter and the kids liked their meals. My complaint is that the music was SO loud we couldn’t talk to each other. Great music and wanted to dance so felt like I was in a club instead of eating dinner

We were very excited to try this place since we love chef Samuelsson but was thoroughly disappointed. Our reservation was on a Wednesday for lunch. There were only one other at the time. First we were greeted with an unfriendly female host who was on the phone the whole time. The waitress and male host were nice but we had to flag down the waitress for everything like refill, condiments, check etc. She only came to our table once to check on us without us having to flag her down. It was quiet during lunch so ambiance was great but not sure about dinner rush or weekend. The decor was nice and relaxed with some tables having benches like lounge area. The wooden part of the floor was quite slippery, not sure if it's safe for older crowd. Food: I got the chicken and waffle and husband had chicken sando with fries with side of Mac and cheese. Overall food was ok but itc lacked flavor and seasoning. My fried chicken was dry and overcooked. Cornbread waffle was the star. Everything was sweeter than it should be, no kick to the chicken. Hubby's fried chicken sandwich had a good crunch but again no flavor or spice for the mild option, maybe the spicy option would be better? Coleslaw would be improved with slightly more sugar and vinegar to brighten it up. Also, we found a short piece of hair stuck in the cheese of mac and cheese. We were comped for it but wasn't given another side. Overall mac and cheese had good amount of cheese but did need a touch of salt but we didn't mind some our son was eating most of it until we found the hair. Overall the experience was mediocre fotlr the price but has potential to be even better! I wish i had tried the shrimp and grits instead, maybe would have been a better culinary experience. Will likely give it one more try since there are other dishes on menu Im curious to try.
