We had a very nice Mother's Day brunch at Mallards. I had never been there before and was pleased with the quality of the food and the pastry/fruit buffet.

We were promptly seated, the food and drinks were delivered timely… but everything was “just ok” at best. We had the seafood campechana (ceviche) which was pretty good, the lobster mac and cheese - the very orange cheese sauce left a very heavy coating in your mouth, not what you would expect to be paired with delicate lobster. The pecan crusted walleye was very bland; the sweetness from the sweet potatoes overpowered the fish. The crab stuffed salmon was a recommendation from the server… the salmon was very good, the crab cake was mostly filler, served with mashed potatoes. No vegetables were served with any of the meals. Overall, our $150 dinner left us feeling a bit disappointed… we don’t mind spending this kind of money on a good meal, but unfortunately, this just didn’t hit the mark. I am surprised this place is so well reviewed.

Server, Jay, was GREAT but it seemed like he had too many tables to cover so we ended up waiting for drinks. Food was good, but nothing that would make me want to return. Shrimp & grits looked really good. Jambalaya was pretty bland but shrimp cooked perfectly. If we return, it’ll be for shrimp & grits.

Five of us met here for dinner on the first beautiful spring weekend in MN- guessing that had something to do with it being on the quiet side. Our server was friendly, helpful and offered recommendations. We shared two appetizers which were both delicious and each of us really enjoyed our entrees.

Happy Easter Experience! Our family group was down to only 3 so we opted to do the best Brunch. Everyone got to select their favorite entree. All smiles.

I expected more than a diner atmospher. We came dressed and experienced a jeans atmosphere. The blackened salmon with crab, had no crab and a couple of black pepper flakes. I felt the espresso martini was similiar to a martini pre-made. We were very disappointed with this visit and will not be returning.

The service was standard. We tried the Pecan Crusted Walleye and the Jambalaya but it was just meh. The Cajun sauce for the walleye was not giving spicy at all and the jambalaya seemed burnt/overcooked.

The coconut shrimp is excellent! I ordered it for my meal. Others enjoyed the lobster bisque and generous half sandwich combo
