Husband-and-wife chef team Bradley Nicholson and Susana Querejazu feature ingredient-forward fare prepared with an elevated approach, influenced by their experiences cooking in acclaimed restaurants around the world.  The ever-changing, seasonal menus of Texas heritage cuisine spotlight local farmers and ranchers and reflect the chefs’ celebration of ingredients prepared with an understated simplicity.

Located on the storied architectural landmark, Commodore Perry Estate, the restaurant's name is a nod to the estate matriarch Nannie Lewette “Lutie” Perry.  The experience melds warm hospitality with the convivial spirit of the property’s Jazz Age legacy, transporting guests to a contemporary garden retreat overlooking lush estate grounds.

    This was our 4th time at Luties. We had not been back for 2 years, but decided to go for our anniversary since we had enjoyed ourselves on prior visits. We understand the menu consists of plates to be shared, but the selections seemed to be no particular order, not even by price. The $14 house bread (2 unreasonably greasy sourdough English muffin-like pieces) was buried between pricier entrees. It was the least expensive menu item, and since it was bread, a more logical place would have been at the top or bottom of the menu. The two most expensive items — halibut and steak — were over $70 and were listed at the bottom of the menu (where they belonged), but I just can’t imagine that the halibut was worth $75. I enjoyed a non-alcoholic drink, but my husband’s Duchess was trying too hard. It had absinthe, which didn’t really go with the other, more citrusy flavors, and it overwhelmed the whole drink. We both ordered the frito misto ($24) since the server said it included soft-shell crab (it is in season and a favorite) and wood ear mushrooms. Instead of a whole fried soft shell crab, What we got was a mish-mash of bits of crab, a single mushroom, 1 piece of okra and zucchini, all coated in batter and fried together so it came out as a single greasy blob. I peeled off a lot of the batter and there wasn’ much left inside We also ordered a king crab custard on grits ($44) to share which contained one lump of crabmeat and both my husband and I found several (4) pieces of shell. If I pay $44 for a lump of crabmeat, the least I should be served is a lump that had been prepared properly. In an attempt salvage the evening, we ordered the coffee crème caramel, which was fine, and we were comped a dish of the banana soft serve for our anniversary, which also was fine, but is better at Zed’s. The whole meal was sort of a bummer as it was a special occasion. Other than the atmosphere and the service, we don’t see a reason to go back.

    Amazing cuisine paired with awesome service! Trout to die for, Sicilian olives and many other small dishes plus texas waygu were absolute highlights. Highly recommend

    One of our new favorites for upscale, luxury setting, great food, lovely jazz/soft house music. Service was so awesome with knowing all the dishes and how to explain them. Split 5 dishes with my bf & walked the grounds after.

    We had the king crab custard which is worth the trip all and in itself it was dooo good!!! The frito misto was so tasty and I had the red snapper curry and red dragon beans which was so incredibly flavorful and my partner had the pork w butter beans and okra which also amazing! And last but not least that sourdough bread is the best I’ve ever had!!!

    We had a wonderful time. The chefs tasting is totally worth it. Portions were probably too big for all the courses to make it through, but it was a great night!

    Had a great time trying new things at Lutie's. The food is quite pricey for small portions, even for a farm to table restaurant. That said it's all very good food and flavorful, the service was great, the atmosphere is very relaxing.

    Had a wonderful night celebrating an anniversary. All of the staff signed a beautiful card for us, which was very thoughtful! The ambience and decor is so pretty and we enjoyed walking the gardens outside after. Highly recommend this romantic spot!

    My partner and I were celebrating our five year anniversary - he called ahead and told them. They said they would offer us two glass of bubbles and a card signed by all of their staff. We did have the card on the table, and that was such a sweet touch! It did take about twenty minutes for anyone to come to our table, give us water, and take our drink order, and we were only served then because my partner asked someone if we’d been assigned a server. We never got the two glasses of bubbles - not too picky there because that is additive, but it would have been nice if they’d have honored what they’d said on the phone call. Each dish took about 30 minutes to come out, making for an awkwardly staggered dinner with lots of waiting. They did comp one appetizer due to the long wait for a server at the beginning of the meal, but the service did not improve as the meal went on. We’ve always loved Luties, and the food is always absolutely spectacular, but the service on this trip was really disappointing and honestly stained the anniversary celebration.

    Beautiful space, excellent cocktails, great service. Food isn’t the best in austin but good. The estate bread is incredible. Get 17 orders. Don’t recommend the bbq shrimp. The trout and rice was good.
