“I’m the owner and the chef, so I’m always here,” he says in his lyrical Mediterranean accent. “It’s nice to do business with locals.”

Jacifi describes his menu as a blend of new and old: “You get old-school tastes with a modern presentation.” The restaurant specializes in northern and southern Italian standards like saltimbocca, chicken cacciatore, and risotto. But the eighteen-year-old Luna takes these familiar dishes very seriously. Redoune, partner and co-chef Hafid Tadri, and co-chef Habib Jacifi don’t so much replicate the old standards as define them.

Take the fettuccini with Bolognese sauce. Many restaurants make a Bolognese; few do it well. Like the sly smile on the lips of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous lady, this brick red sauce reveals a depth of character beyond its simple appearance. Carrots, celery, and onions add a layer of sweetness, while bacon contributes a sultry, meaty backbone.

Went for Mother’s Day. Didn’t know ahead of time that it was a pre-fixe menu for $70 a person. If we could have gotten in some place else on short notice we would have left. Food was just average and definitely not worth $70. Timing of the dishes was not great. Everyone but one person served their entree but had to wait nearly 15 mins for the missing entree. One entree order also not accurate and served with an ingredient that was asked to be left out. I feel the quality of this establishment has declined over the years.

This was I think .. our 5th time going to Luna Ristorante. We had an outstanding dining experience. We went with 2 friends. I along with my friend had the Halibut, my wife had the chicken parmesan and my friend's wife had the seafood lasagne. The Halibut and lasagne were specials. We also had the garlic bread with goat cheese appetizer -- to die for. All of our entrees were delicious. The service was top notch, the ambience was great. Again, another delicious, enjoyable dining experience. We all highly recommend Luna Ristorante to those who enjoy well prepared Italian food.

We used to love this restaurant and now we will never go back! Their reservation system is a joke (read the Yelp comments). Even with a reservation, they will not take you on-time and they will either make you wait in the middle of the dinning room with everyone at table staring at you, or outside in the rain cold due to the ridiculously small space. The food has really gone downhill. My chicken parm was burnt and the chef tried to "hide" it by turn the chicken over and drowning it in sauce when the entire bottom was black and hard as a rock. I wish I could upload the picture. My dates Salmon was burnt, the veggies were burnt and they refused to remake the Salmon or give us credit for it on the bill (they did remake my chicken parm which the meal was over by the time I got it). The service is TERRIBLE. The staff could care-less. We were waiting in the middle of the dinning room over 30 mins PAST our reservation time and there was an open dirty table in the corner, the bus boy looked at us multiple times and walked around in circles without cleaning the table. Finally I had to tell the manager to "clean the table up and help us!" which he gave me a blank stare and laughed at me like it was a joke. So many people were upset at the restaurant about different things that the "owner" started walking around trying to talk to people and pretend that he knew everyone at every table- it was a poor joke. The "owner" should have gotten out of hiding in the back and starting busing tables and working while his poorly trained staff tried to deal with the "onslaught" in the dinning room. There is far better Italian restaurants in the area- stay away from this one!

thank you very mush for the great review , i am sorry for your experience in my restaurant. that is not something that makes me happy or my staff . we want you to have a good experience and enjoy your self. regarding the guest, yes i do know most of my guest by name and they been coming and supporting me for a long time. i do appreciate there business and they want to serve them and cook for them. if i was not in the dinning room , that means i am helping in the kitchen to make sure the food is up to my standers. my name is Habib, Chef and the Owner of the restaurant. if you have any concerned you are welcome to call me or come see me , i will do my best to make you happy. thank you
