Lulu Bar is an escape from the ordinary. Its welcoming vibe is reminiscent of hidden gems from your last vacation, only better because it’s right here in your own backyard. With a healthy, Pacific-inspired menu, Lulu’s wood-fired food is light and fresh — but heavy on flavour.
Chef Joseph Sokoloff’s fare is a tribute to the Pacific Ocean and many of the regions that touch it, with influences from Asia to Hawaii, California to British Columbia. Lulu’s fun, light, and refreshing drink menu is equally well-travelled. Its sake, beer, and creative cocktail offerings will make you feel like you’re far from home — and we like that.

Amazing service and good! Our waiter Nick was fabulous! Unfortunately the noice from motorcycles on the street were obnoxious.

We ordered a number of different dishes to share (six I think, before dessert). While we preferred some to others (personal taste) they were all done well and presented nicely. We were hooked from the Salt and Pepper Pork Belly and finished with a very good BBQ Crispy Half Duck. I was very impressed by the service. Our waitress helped us to pick the appropriate number of dishes and to get a good variety and avoid too many heavy plates. She answered some pretty detailed questions about the food preparation, and also handled similar questions about our cocktails. And she was very pleasant. We always appreciate knowledgable, friendly service.

We enjoyed the cod, potatoes, spam, broccoli and hula pie. (Potatoes and cod were the favourites!)

Veryyyyy good food. We ordered the beef tongue skewer and it was so delicious we had to order seconds. For drinks my boyfriend order the loger…typical lol and I order the milk and honey cocktail. It was tasty but quite small for its price. My boyfriend made a good point that he would finish it is 2 sips, making it $8 a sip. For mains we ordered the beef Thai noodles and the wood grilled steak both of these were exceptional. I also wanted to add that our server Nick was super kind, when I was cold he turned on the patio heaters and brought me a cup of bowling water to hold until the heaters warmed up. I would recommend LuLu Bar to anyone who asked for a good dinner spot.

My husband and I celebrated our 39th anniversary and his 1 year kidney transplant surgery. We can’t remember our servers name but she was wonderful. Her suggestions from drinks to food was spot on. She even took our picture for us. We will return to Lulus. We loved seeing people of all ages at the restaurant. We were made to feel very welcomed.

This place was surprisingly busy for a Sunday night. It was my friend’s birthday. We shared six dishes including a steak and had 3 mai tais each. My bill was just under $250 including tax and a 20% tip. The food was excellent and inventive. I must have had a good time … had to return the next day for my car.

Amazing food and good service. I loved the brussel sprouts and beef tongue skewers. I will say it was a bit too noisy for me as the table beside me was so loud it prevented me from fully enjoying the experience. I couldn’t hear the person across from my table so it was hard to talk. I think the upstairs level is very squished together. Perhaps the number of tables can be decreased and more spaced out so girls aren’t shrieking in my ear.

It was a special occasion for one of our party members and thus I had booked a special table upstairs. Unfortunately they missed my request and could not accommodate us upstairs when we arrived. They did however offer us bubbles and dessert to makeup for their error, nice touch.

This is our second time at the restaurant. We went yesterday night for an anniversary and got a few beers, the thai sausage skewers, salt and pepper pork belly (sausage dipped into this sauce, delish!), steak, chinese broccoli, and linguini. Everything was delicious although the steak was slightly tough (cooked medium rare) albeit very tasty. Would go back but not necessarily rush back right away.

Lulu Bar was perfect to show off Calgary’s food scene to a dozen of our out of town guests. Talked to the restaurant early and ordered “Chef’s Choice Family Style” and was not disappointed!

We went there for my boyfriend’s birthday. Service and food were absolutely above and beyond. Atmosphere, decor, ambience, etc. Everything was on point. I was even thinking of booking this space for my parents’ wedding anniversary.

Went in to try the YYC Experience dinner with a guest. It was a 3 course dinner for $35, so it bought good value for the food ordered. The guest and I both ordered the same items. The first course was the Scallop Crudo, which was very good, nice flavor, and fresh. Had a nice little spicy flavor to it. Then the second was the Braised Short Rib. Had an interesting flavor and was a nice light main course, yet filling with the Hawaiian Roll buns with it. The weakest of the courses was the 3rd, the dessert. I felt the Hong Kong Butter Toast had the hazelnut flavor as a little too overpowering and I couldn't even taste the roasted banana in it. Overall, the price of everything vs the courses served provided good value. The service was very good, our waters were always topped off as were the dishes cleared as we completed each course.
