Behind an unmarked door adjacent to the wine room, guests are transported to District 1 (China Town) in Saigon via Blackhouse’s 28-seat restaurant-within-a-restaurant, LSXO. A spinoff of the Little Sister brand (Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach & Downtown Los Angeles), LSXO is love letter to the culture, heritage, and lineage of Vietnam (Vuong’s relatives hail from the region). While Little Sister is known for its French Vietnamese menu, LSXO follows the same Southeast Asian inspiration with a more refined feel.

“There is no signage for LSXO—you can spot the entrance of it tucked into a section inside Bluegold, but you’ll have to know it’s there. While Bluegold is light, bright, and airy, LSXO is its darker, edgier little sister,” says Vuong. “Both restaurants operate out of the same kitchen, though the menus are completely different. LSXO offers straight-up, honest, home-style Vietnamese cuisine—the type of food I grew up eating with my grandparents in the San Gabriel Valley

                                                                                              We have been patrons of LSXO since the day it opened and eat there very often. One of our favorite places in OC. Food and service is always A+++. Last night no so. Food was excellent as always service horrible. We were seated by the hostess who was pleasant. We sat for at least 5 min before greeted by our server. She asked if had been in before. We told her yes often. We brought in a bottle of our favorite wine an had to ask to have it uncorked. She came back with glasses and poured it for us. That was the LAST TIME she did that. We had to pour it the rest of the night. Our first course came, amazing. We finished and had dirty plates for at least 15 minutes in our table. She came and took our next course but left the dirty plates. When she brought or second course she finally took the dirty plates and brought clean ones. If last night was our first time there we would never go back. So sorry this happened

                                                                                              Flavour bomb galore! Good service, intimate yet lively space, with great views. Though one disappointment was that I booked this reservation noting that this was for my sister’s birthday. There was no comment, no acknowledgment, no candle on the dessert we ordered & paid for. We spent $350 for a party of four…and yet no birthday wish for lil sis. Slightly sad.

                                                                                              I'll begin by saying that the food was outstanding and the service was quite good. The room is very warm and there's a beautiful full on ocean view. The restaurant only has 6 tables btw. That's the good part, now for the not so good part. There was rap and rock music playing quite loudly. TOTALLY, inappropriate for the decor or intimate scale of the restaurant !! Really unpleasant and a major faux pas. We spoke with the manager and mentioned it to him. His response (he was quite polite I have to say) was that the chef wanted this specific type of music played ! I always thought that the ambiance in a restaurant was geared towards the enjoyment of the patrons. I didn't realize that the musical preferences of the chef are what what we have to be subjected to. As much as I hate to say it but the loud thumping music really killed what could have been a really enjoyable dinner in a lovely restaurant. As a side note, we were 10 minutes late beyond their 15 minute grace period so we were told that the only option was to sit at the bar (which we normally don't mind). However, if you're ever given this option...just say no. The bar stools were by FAR the most uncomfortable we've ever sat on. After we told the waitress that having a meal seated on the bar stools was NOT an option, they sat us at a table (remember there are only 6). Given that we, like most people, go to a restaurant to enjoy a good meal and converse with whomever we're with, the musical choice and volume will preclude us from dining there again. Quite a shame really because the food was outstanding. I'd finally like to mention that almost everyone in the restaurant was over 50, so given their clientele you would think that they would reconsider their musical choices.

Our server Andrea was very attentive, on point and even had some great suggestions. Definitely a vibe down to the hip-hop music deep from within the vault. Highly recommended!

                                                                                              Amazing food, service and experience at LSXO. Portions are bigger than you might think. We ordered 7 dishes for two people and probably took home more food than we could eat at the table. Shaky Shaky Beef, Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls, and whatever the pate appetizer is called were favorites, but honestly everything we had tasted phenomenal.

My only regret was I wish I had a bigger stomach to eat more and try other stuff on the menu! So that means I’m definitely be coming back. Drinks were good, service was good, ambiance was small and intimate and enough noise/music to not make it awkward. Portions of the food were good also. I hate spending that much money and still feeling hungry. We definitely had left overs. Can’t praise this place enough.

                                                                                              Small hidden space with delicious food and drinks. Fresh and perfect combination of flavors. The service was accommodating, friendly and attentive. View is of the beach. Visiting in daylight we couldn’t help but notice the unfinished walls which took away from the “cool vibe”. Loved the music. A bit expensive but a must do at least once.

                                                                                              Food was amazing, as was the service. The specialty cocktails were super tasty and hit the spot on a Friday evening. I recommend the shaky shaky beef, the fried cod and any of the pho dishes. So good. We are locals who had never been there and will definitely be back.

                                                                                              Truly another incredible meal. Love this place. The staff and the chefs are very passionate about the menu. Can’t wait to go back. Hopefully the lamb satay is back on the menu.

                                                                                              I seem to usually have Jasmine as my server and she’s always incredible. Great service, friendly, and knowledgeable on everything. The food is always amazing as well. Shaky shaky beef is the way to go.

                                                                                              Because of our dining time, we had the place to ourselves. Bartender was kind enough to wait and entertain us throughout. Absolutely loved the restaurant! Definitely a hidden gem in HB.

                                                                                              Food of course is fantastic. Accommodation for my fiancé and my toddler however was 1/5 stars. I called in advance about being 5 late after grace period and the male manager verbalized and agreed that the time we were late would count for our 2 hour dining experience, however when we arrived he said he would not be able to seat us. He said we were 30 min late when in reality it was 20 min. 15 grace plus the five extra minutes. Anyway, after explaining the reason why I was late he headed to the back and 7 min later he said he would accommodate but we had to rush through the menu, he took our order as soon as we sat down, I didn’t get to order everything I wanted. Waters were served, not acknowledged by the server or busser ( not sure what she was) A server finally came to greet us 25 min later. Towards the end of our 50 min stay ( because we had to be out by a certain time ) we were waiting for a cake ( 2/10 ) another server came to our table and starting picking up, wiping half our table I guess to prepare for the next table, just not a good experience over all this time.

                                                                                              I had eaten there earlier this year and had a fantastic experience. This time there was loud drilling going on during lunch and the Shaky Shaky Beef was extremely tough. I took it home but threw it out because you could not chew threw it. The eggplant and noodles were delicious, but the birthday cake they brought for my friend whom I was treating for lunch was stale.

                                                                                              This is one of my favorite restaurants in Orange County. The food is always excellent and the service is good. However, yesterday the ambience was out of whack. There was a large party that was sitting next to us probably seven people or so, and they were beyond loud like did it realize that there were other people in the restaurant and I didn't think that was fair, it takes a long time to get a reservation for this restaurant, so it was pretty upsetting with the noise level and the ambience

If we had any complaint at all it would be the loud rap music wasn’t consistent with the lovely dining experience!!! We will return and already have our next reservation.
