My finacé and I really enjoyed our meal at Lionfish. The gnocchi, octopus, shrimp and steak were cooked very nicely and the east coast oysters were actually like oysters ive had in Virginia. The ambiance is inviting and not too loud making for a great meal.

A group of people were screaming in the middle of the restaurant, making everyone uncomfortable. I think the manager should have asked them to lower their voices quite a bit, but apparently, he or she wasn't bothered.

Lionfish was fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish, especially the mariscos al fuego. Our server Juan was also excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for an outstanding dining experience in downtown San Diego.

Im 6months pregnant and the staff was great! Very friendly and helpful, someone literally went with me in the elevator to the bathroom instead of making me use the stairs! The food was good although I thought the lobster pasta was a bit salty and the lobster a bit underdone. Will come back to try other options ❤️

First visit and since we are local so it’s now on our radar! The heirloom tomato & cucumber salad was a great start, and it just got better with some Big Eye Tuna and Hiramasa sashimi, and then Bezerk and Geisha rolls. No time to checkout deserts as we were on our way to a concert. The wine was also excellent, as was the service, but this is high end food in the Gaslight area, so the prices are also high end. I’ll also add that the noise was the only negative, but seemingly the norm in busy urban restaurants.

We had the special sushi to start. It was some of the best we have ever had and we have been all over the world eating sushi! My husband and I shared the scallops done perfectly, and had the side of Caesar asparagus yum! The staff was superb and attentive and gave us the timing we asked for. I could not recommend this restaurant more!

Food was exceptionally good!! Only disappointment was that they forgot to send out the last dish we ordered, and their kitchen and wait staff were seen delivering wrong plates to wrong tables. Not sure what was happening but it did make for a sour ending to what would have been a perfect evening.

We were very disappointed in the caviar order. The cream cheese that they served with it was ridiculously over salted. Anything you serve with caviar should be mild in flavor to allow the caviar be the star. But the cream cheese competed with the caviar’s saltiness. When we brought it to the attention of the server, she said she would let the chef know. Of course, we were not looking for more caviar. But I was hoping that the chef would taste the cream cheese and acknowledge its saltiness. Nothing. When you are getting the priciest menu item….you expect it to be flawless. It fell very short of that. As a result, we will not be recommending this restaurant

To start with bartender was friendly, however spent far too much time chatting with coworker, server was helpful and truly professional. The branzino was extremely small with far too little meat and very costly.

From the servers to the drinks to the food, everything was amazing! This is our second time here this time with friends and it was their first time. Only complaint I have is that the oysters we got had pieces of shells broken in the mix and it was unexpected (never has happened to me before) so took away a bit from enjoying the oyster but overall a small detail. We got sushi, sake bombs, the rockfish and a couple different robatas. Would recommend this spot for people who rather conversate and have the food be secondary as the dishes aren’t that large and seemed more of a tapas style. Dress up and have a good time!

Very nice place. We waited 15 minutes and then asked a busboy to send us a server. We didn't even have menus! Anyway, the nigiri was excellent. The rolls are very good too. Hopefully, next time the service will be a little better. BTW, very loud.

The service was very good. The restaurant is very loud. Large round tables are way too big and you can't hear anyone talking at all, especially with all the noise. The fish dishes were good. The fried chicken was dry and the truffle butter and sauce were just on a side. For the price we expected better.

I love Lionfish! I go here almost every time I have friends in town, or I am going to a show downtown! The food is amazing, the service is very good, and it never disappoints!

Absolutely underwhelmed by our experience at Lionfish. Despite making a reservation, we were relegated to the chaos of the bar, where the overpowering scent of perfume drowned out any hope of savoring the cuisine. To add insult to injury, our meal was rudely interrupted by a bar fight – quite the ambiance for a supposed high-class establishment. The cherry on top? Our waitress seemed to have mastered the art of selective blindness, leaving us to fend for ourselves throughout the evening. And just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, our filets arrived sans utensils, forcing us to witness their slow descent into cold, inedible oblivion. Congratulations, Lionfish, for providing a masterclass in disappointment. Oh, and did I mention the privilege of paying a cool $600 for the pleasure? Save your money and your taste buds – this place is a joke.
