My wife’s pair salad was good, her entree veal Milanese was marginal, it was salty and dry. My Caesar salad was weird, it came out with 1/4” of grated Parmesan cheese, so it was completely white, you couldn’t even see the lettuce. My entree, the salmon was good. My friend had a tuna tartare appetizer that she sent back because the chilli oil was too spicy, although I tasted it and liked it. The waitress brought out a complimentary desert, which were 5 mini donut type pastries and three dipping sauces, which were very tasty. So overall just ok, nothing horrible but also nothing to compel you to make this a go to spot. The ambiance is nice, retro Rancho Santa Fe from the 1920’s, so that’s nice. Service was attentive, but we were one of only 2 indoor tables on a Sunday night, so hard to say what it would be like on a busy night.

Gave this place a couple of chances to make sure the first time wasn’t a fluke. Unfortunately, the second visit was just as disappointing as the first time. Super slow service: inefficient and painfully slow that even the most basic things such as getting our drink orders took half an hour to even get to us. Food is also mediocre and very forgettable. It’s too bad. We were super excited for the renovation and the updates but having a pretty ambience can only get you so far.

Since the remodel, we have been to Lillian's about 4 times for dinner. I don't think we will be back. While the new decor and ambience is lovely in the main dining room - the food is just not that great for the price. We each had a ribeye steak - and while it was cooked to the correct temperature, it was smothered with a giant mound of parsley and whipped butter (why?) with no char or flavor. It looks like the steak was done in a sous vide, then put on the grill for 5 seconds just to get a couple grill lines on it. Just bad. For the price, you expect a better steak. On a previous visit, I had tried the veal milanese. It was very oddly prepared - a very thick cut, which made the meat hard to cut and very tough. Every other time I've had veal milanese elsewhere - it is typically prepared as a very thin cutlet. I asked the waitress this time if that is always how the veal is prepared (a very thick steak-like breaded cutlet) and she verified that yes, this is how they serve theirs at Lillian's. Another time we were at Lilian's in the bar area it was taking forever to get a bottle of wine. We were told by the waitress that "only the manager has the key to the wine cellar because one of them had lost the other key - so they have to wait for him to get the bottle". Not sure if that was an excuse or true - but wow what a way to run a business! Too bad because the location is great.

Great place and ambiance. It wasn’t busy. Waited 30 minutes for caviar service and the waiter never apologized or told us the reason when we kept asking.

Everything was excellent. We enjoyed the crab and avacado salad, the lobster entree, the salmon entree, and the layered cheesecake/carrot cake. Service was great, meal was well paced, restaurant had a buzz, and felt very intimate, too. I recommend the Manhattan. Cheers!

Lillian's has become one of our favorite restaurants since we returned to the San Diego area. The menu is not overwhelming but has a great selection for starters, entrees and desserts for lunch. The patio is lovely and service is excellent.

I’ve been to Lillian’s for dinner which was fabulous but this was my first time for lunch. I ordered the warm crab salad and even though the crab was fresh and tasty the rest of the salad was just lettuce and the salad was very small. I thought it would have been a luncheon size salad but it was more like a side salad. The hummus appetizer was ok but unremarkable. We sat outside on the patio and it was VERY pleasant - love the outdoor ambiance. The waiter was attentive but we felt a little rushed. I will go back for lunch but will probably order a more substantial meal.

Food was great , berry smoothies too sweet , the waiter did not offer other drinks to replace , but he did take them off the bill. He was very rushed. Dessert beignets too slow to come , ended up just paying the bill , they were not put in the bill,

The overall experience was very good, but the food was only fair. We sat outside which was beautiful and the service was great. If the food was better, I would be giving a higher score.

We’ve eaten at the restaurant for many years. This year the owner changed. Previous menu was one of our favorites . Basic food (meatloaf) fabulous recipe. This year food was trendy but covered in sauces not so well prepared. Scallops were tough drowning in spicy and hot sauce. Lamb chops tasty but drowning in olive oil spinach was drowned in melted feta. Service and ambience were as great as usual.

We had another great dinner at Lilian's. Salmon, beets, chicken, Cesar salad. Perfect service and ambience. Super fresh locally source produce. Just beautiful in every way! Love the decor too!

We sat outside on the patio. It was nice except that they didn't have enough umbrellas so we had to sit in the sun part time. Food was great.

Dined here for my 30th birthday and everything was fabulous. I am newly obsessed with the Binglin Bliss cocktail and their pear/burrata salad was very tasty. Service was great & the patio was gorgeous. The outdoors ambiance is something to NOT pass up. Greg stopped by our table to check in and make sure our table was good. We will be back!

Food and service were outstanding and Sam is a GREAT waiter - so friendly and knowledgeable. Only downside to the night was a crying infant which is a challenge in such an intimate indoor dining space.

The food is good. The service is just okay , but also very slow . It’s loud. The space is open without any feeling of intimacy or privacy. The space is beautifully designed. I enjoy more for lunch than dinner

The food and vibe of the restaurant was great, the service was horrible. We ordered our drinks and appetizers, and never saw our waiter for 30 min after we were done with our appetizer. Our app was delivered and after getting up to find him to ask if we can order our main course, we finally were able to order. We were at the restaurant for almost 3 hours... For the price we were paying for the food, I would have expected better service.

We booked a table for lunch mid-week and were seated promptly even though th outdoor area was almost fully booked. Hostess gave us the menu and we were served with water within a short time. No one came by for the next 25 minutes. I flagged down a waitress and asked her to check on our waiter since we’re ready to order wine and some food. The waitress checked with the hostess and after some discussion she came back and said she could take our order. Service was good from then on. The outdoor area was perfect for a sunny CA day in March and we were not in a hurry . I ordered the grilled lobster which was perfectly cooked but the fries were drenched in a butter bernaise sauce. My friend had appetizer of grilled lamp chops and a side salad and she deemed her order perfect. Dessert menu (unlike dinner) was very limited. Love their featured chocolate dessert at dinner and wish chef would consider adding to the lunch menu in which case a light entree with the scrumptious shared dessert would have been perfect. Noise level was moderate ( we dined prior indoors and the noise level prevented conversation at a normal level). Valet was professional and overall a very enjoyable afternoon. Reservation advised.

I’ve always loved dining at The Inn. It looks terrific after the remodel. I had a 12:00 pm lunch reservation for my friend and I. We were celebrating her birthday. We were seated promptly at noon. At 12:25 pm we had not bern approached by any servers. Not even water service. I had to go inside, the hostess didn’t acknowledge me but a server who saw me trying to get the attention of any server said he would take over our table. He turned out to be terrific - lunch was great but a frustratingly embarrassing start.

A beautiful day on the patio. enjoyed our Avocado Toast and Crab Benedict were both excellent. for some reason the regular Eggs Benedict comes with the delicious potatoes but not the Crab Benedict.

My experience at Lillian's Restaurant was nothing short of delightful. Opting for lunch on the patio as it was a beautiful sunny day, albeit a tad windy. The ambiance was simply charming, under the green and white umbrella's The menu offered a diverse selection of delectable dishes, each prepared with care and attention to detail. I opted for the steak fries, which exceeded my expectations in flavor and presentation. In addition to the exceptional cuisine, the service was top-notch. The staff were friendly, and attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Overall, my visit to Lillian's Restaurant was a true delight. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing meal in a picturesque setting.

The service and food were outstanding. I’ve been eating at the Inn for many years and this was the best ever. I must admit I felt the decor was a bit too contemporary compared to the historic RSF motif.

Not much choice of fish on the lunch menu. Years ago I ate lunch in that room and it was terrible noisy. With the multimillion dollar upgrades I had hopefully soundproofing or carpets/curtains/ table cloths…something to cushion the noise. But no, nothing. 🥲 I will not return.

Situated inside The beautiful Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, is Lilian’s. Reservations recommended as we dined for lunch it started out quiet but quickly filled with many locals. Although we had reservations, The hostess was apologetically busy and took awhile to get to us. Once seated, The view from our table overlooks the property and loved the inside and outdoor area of this restaurant. The Monterey Salmon was flavorful, gorgeously plated with a delicious sauce. The creamed spinach and brown butter sides paired well with the salmon. The grilled chicken sandwich was not my favorite. The olive tapenade with the in house made olive bread was overpowering and had to scrape some of it off. The sandwich was lacking and next time will order a different menu item. The meal was completed with beignets and was my favorite part of the meal. The beignets were crispy, with a sugar torched crust but soft & moist inside and included 3 different sauces that paired well with the beignets. Absolutely loved it!

It was a lovely afternoon dining on the beautiful patio at Lillian’s. Our server, Nick, was friendly, attentive and helpful. Our lunch was delicious. We shared a Caesar salad and a Grilled Chicken Mediterranean Sandwich, both were fresh & well seasoned. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the olive bread was a perfect vessel for the sandwich. I would highly recommend enjoying a meal at Lillian’s. You will feel as though you’ve been transported to a relaxing, beautiful vacation locale!
