Alfonso Salazar, better known as “Dirty Al” originally started shrimping as a young man with his father and 6 brothers. In 2003, he and his youngest son, Cameron, who graduated from Culinary School, transformed his bait stand into a restaurant where together they have been known for having “The World’s Best Fried Shrimp”! In 2005, his other two sons returned home to help grow the business. To this day, they now own 7 restaurants on beautiful South Padre Island and across the valley and continue to bring only the “best” Gulf Seafood to each customer’s table.

Starting with the positive, the service was great! Food was mixed at best. The New York Strips were exceptionally bland and tough (even medium rare). Think flavor a step above boiled. Menu said they are a Prime cut but guessing that they are Select. So disappointing. Chicken pasta bland but okay. Snapper Rockefeller and broiled Parmesan oysters were excellent. Ambiance is nice and romantic with views of the sunset. With that said, in the bathroom, you are asked to throw toilet paper in the trash, not the toilet. So, while you use the toilet, you sit next to an open can of waste. I know beach towns have plumbing problems, but for a restaurant charging as much as Liam's, this is unacceptable. Bathrooms are near the front, and you can smell them a bit when you walk in. Pretty gross.

Great service, great food. We were fortunate to get a table by the window where we had a beautiful view of the water and sunset.

We had a lovely family dinner here. The steaks and seafood were delicious, well prepared. Desserts were yummy. The wait staff were attentive and efficient. We had requested a window seat and got it! We will be back!

Great atmosphere. Service was great. Seafood was good, but the chicken was dry and I wasn’t able to eat it & they removed the charge without hesitation. This was much appreciated. The key lime pie was delish. We would visit again.

What a treat! We made a meal of some fabulous appetizers -- Fried calamari, Ribeye guacamole, Layla's lemon shrimp and a side of Brussels. Lovely setting by the bay. We came too early (5PM) for the sun screens to be raised as the sun goes down. Delicious. One of our favorite restaurants when coming to SPI.

This is the second time my husband and I came to South Padre and we enjoy going to Liam’s for dinner. Restaurant does not disappoint.
