This historically unique location houses the new restaurant from Matt O'Neil chef/owner of The Blue Ox in Lynn. O'Neil collaborates with Executive Chef, Daniel Gursha, formerly of Bambara, Cambridge and A Voce and Bouley in New York City, offering a progressive New England concept, where traditional 19th-century dishes, cocktails, and techniques will be elevated with 21st-century resources.

As usual we had a very well prepared delicious meal. The food is consistently well prepared and very good. Service was excellent from the hostess seating us in the quiet booth, to our server to the drinks manager- nice wine selection. However two reasons why it is a 4 and not a 5- extremely loud with anaphoric music adding to the noise, and the same menu now for the last 4 years we have been coming. Since the chef is good I have the expectation for a more seasonal menu and not just two other specials.

Pleasant staff, but service was lacking on this occasion-- very long wait for entrees and when they finally arrived, my salmon was perhaps room temperature, at best. I would have requested that they re-heat it, but we had waited so long, I didn't mention it. It took two hours for one round of cocktails, shared appetizer and entree, with no dessert/coffee...

Mother’s Day dining limited menu and did not have vegetarian options. Risotto dish you would think was available was made with chicken stock. Gravy over filet was very salty.

Really grateful that our waitress took the time to understand complex dietary restrictions ahead of our arrival and already had communicated with the chef so we knew what we could order. Rarely see that - great job!

It took 30 minutes before some took our order… $75 each for prefix menu … featured asparagus in most dishes … what if someone doesn’t like asparagus? Flank steak was served raw, sent back to be medium rare…came back dry and well. Done. Overseasoned potatoes … small portions … $15 more for filet… so that was a $90 meal … wouldn’t recommend this restaurant …especially for the price.

We have always enjoyed Ledger. One of our favorite restaurants in Salem where we live. Mother’s Day was not enjoyable. We didn’t like where we sat in overflow room . The service was very slow and the room very loud. Not worth the expensive price we paid . Very disappointing after going there for the last 4 years

We had great service, the pork belly and warm chocolate cake was amazing, and we enjoyed ourselves overall very much!

1st visit after years of hoping to make it into Salem for a night. Perfect family dinner Mother’s dat weekend with 5 of us selecting mix of hot appetizers and entrees. Plenty to choose from for us and we were all very pleased with our meals. Desserts and mixed beverages help make a perfect ending Having seen the open kitchen design with wood fire grill I had expected a premium steak/seafood option along with seasonal menu. Ultimately it didn’t impact our experience as we hope to return soon.

I have been fortunate to frequent Ledger. There’s a reason for that. The cocktails are always spot on. The ambience is exactly what I love and the food is exceptional. Last night was no exception. From beginning to end every dish was as delicious as the next. Service staff was fantastic! One of the best experiences I’ve had of many and I’m so thankful Ledger is there.

Excellent restaurant in Salem, from start to finish. We enjoyed the ambiance, the cocktails, the finesse of the meal, the wine, the dessert. We were even offered the kindness of a dessert wine at the end of the meal. The service was attentive and efficient. Definitely a place we'll return to next time we're in Salem.

Ledger in Salem is the most consistent incredible food, service, location, venue. It's the only place we really go out to eat.

Ledger is always our go to for celebrations because meals there are always exceptional and last night was no different! Popovers and brussels sprouts are a must and the steak and salmon were perfect. The Happy Anniversary cookie was a a nice touch as well. Can't recommend Ledger more!

Outstanding food and service at Sunday brunch! Everything was delicious…our group of 4 had Bloody Mary’s, mimosa, donuts (yum!), chicken & waffles, eggs Benedict, pork belly & grits. Wait staff were attentive and friendly.

We ate brunch at 11:30am, had our table ready as we entered. I had the eggs Benedict, with potatoes and a side of bacon. The eggs Benedict was the best I’ve ever eaten, cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was wonderful! The potatoes were cooked well but lacked seasoning, but the bacon was outstanding great flavor and cooked perfectly. The ambience was a bit loud but we could still talk and hear well. Ordered the daily donuts, strawberry cheesecake and toffee espresso both were outstanding, rank this a 5 star, highly recommend for brunch!

This was our 3rd time at Ledger & it was once again awesome! We love that it’s an old bank with the vault & how they incorporated old w/new in the design. One of the walls has the safety deposit boxes, super cool! The food is fabulous and Shaun F our server at the bar was excellent!! He made sure we knew the specials and was very personable and attentive. Great service! We loved the oysters, short rib special app & the duck entree. Fun drinks too, the “painkiller” taste like a pina colada, including the tropical flower. Love this place!!

We had a wonderful meal. Our 5 year old loved her waffle w/ whipped cream and sprinkles! Our only negative is the noise level! It is a big negative for some of our friends who won’t come as they can’t hear others at their own table! Otherwise, love Ledger!

As always Ledger was outstanding! We have always had overwhelmingly positive experiences at Ledger, and we have been there shall we say, a lot! The staff is friendly and inviting, the waitstaff is exceptional and the food is some of the best that we have ever had. Consistent excellence through multiple visits. Ledger never disappoints!

We had a wonderful time celebrating my sister-in-law‘s birthday. We had selected this restaurant for the Special Occasion. Our server Leah did a great job. She was above and beyond one of the nicest servers you’ve had. Very knowledgeable and very attentive.

Three of us went for their three course pre-fixed Easter dinner and loved everything. We shared one of each of the starters; Hot Cross Bun, Deviled Egg, and a Popover. Two of us had the Prime Skirt Steaks and the other had the Cod Boullabaisse for our main course. Then we had a Carrot Cake, Cheesecake, and a Mango dessert. The drinks were delicious too. And, the service was top-notch. We were seated in the side dining room which was perfect because it's a lot quieter than the main dining room.

My fiance and I ate at the bar on a Saturday night. Service was prompt and friendly, drinks were made well (I had an old fashioned and she had a specialty cocktail). The food was well portioned and tasted amazing. A little on the pricier side, but we felt the value was there for the high quality of the meal. Will definitely go again soon, and highly recommend it!

The entire experience was fantastic. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable and very positive in attitude. The food was delicious and timed extremely well. We had drinks, apps, mains, and dessert and all were outstanding. We will be back.

It was a great meal!!! The spaghetti was very good, drinks were solid, and the appetizers were amazing. I just wish the service was a little faster as we wanted to get dessert but by the time we got a dessert menu it was so late we didn’t want to continue waiting. 4/5, I’ll be back!

I appreciated the care they take. Many wait professionals in restaurants these days are a bit mechanical. At Ledger they take the time to establish rapport without being overbearing. Staff is very knowledgeable. All around great experience.

We have yet to have a dish here that we do not love. Everything is always so well executed by the kitchen and prepared with great attention to detail. The FOH staff are also extremely welcoming and attentive. Thank you Ledger for always being memorable and a great night out.
