What a memorable evening! We went to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. She’s a vegetarian so this was the perfect choice. The chef is a perfectionist so everything was not only well prepared, it was beautiful too. Watching the coordination in the kitchen was amazing. We added the wine pairing and totally enjoyed the wines also. This restaurant is for anyone that wants well prepared, seasonal food.

Chef Menes is a consummate professional. The tasting menu here is amongst the best that L.A. has to offer. Everything dish was thoughtfully conceived, meticulously prepared and tasted delicious.

Took my girlfriend here for a Valentine's dinner - incredible & unique menu, really cool ambiance in terms of watching the food be made, and great experience talking to the chef and the service staff. I'd say it's a bit pricey and the corkage fee was INSANE ($75 + a 20% gratuity on top of that), but for such a unique experience i'd still recommend. I'd recommend doing the research on this restaurant and understanding its appeal as the price point won't make it a great pick for everyone.

The experience was amazing. From the introduction to the meal. Every course that was not only stunning but made the palette sing. The wine pairing complimented and enhanced each bite.

My husband and I have been dying to dine here for some time. To our surprise, we were finally able to coordinate our busy schedules and make reservations for Valentine’s Day. The atmosphere was intimate and the service was superb. Each exquisite course was paired perfectly with a delectable glass of wine. Both mine and my husband’s favorite dish was the grass fed beef which was cooked to mere perfection with an impeccable crust and buttery center. We will definitely be taking friends and family to partake in this magnificent experience.

One of the best five meals I ever had. I have had 2 star and 3 star Michelin meals and this stands up against all of them. The apparent simplicity of some of the courses hides the astonishing complexity of the flavorings. It is an intimate dining experience where you can see and feel the joy they put into the food. It's amazing to watch. Recommend this place for anyone who wants to experience food at its truest and astounding best.

Great food and ambiance. Love to the cooking happening in front of you. Also loved the intimacy of the place (max of 8 in the counter). The only downside is the wine pairing portions could be larger.

Absolutely loved my experience at Le Comptoir. It wasn’t just a dinner, it was a full experience from start to finish. Each course was beautiful and unique. I wish I could eat here everyday.

Over 430$ for vegetables that are “ok,” 2 glasses of wine, and supplemental choices if you don’t want all veggies. I thought I’d be spending around 300 total for a full meal with meat and wine. I didn’t even get the wine pairing To add any sort of protein is extra. I added pork which was over cooked and I had to spit out. I added the truffle supplement with pasta for 65$ it tasted like water and dirt. They gave us a warning that the truffles weren’t high quality but i figured for 65$ they would still be ok. I couldn’t even smell any truffle fragrance. I’m not joking. This was the most disappointing experience of my life and also the most expensive meal I have ever had in my life. I didn’t realize it was vegetarian. I asked to not go crazy on the wine because I had been sick and just wanted a glass of cheap red a cheap white. Each glass was la 35$ a piece. I could have went and bought a nice steak for 1 glass of wine. This was way tooo much money and super disappointing as I a saved to go here. That’s a lot of work I did to pay for that really disappointing meal.

Le Comptoir is always a treat! All seats are at the small counter so you see all the food prep and exacting service. Except for a couple of options the menu is all fruits and vegetables. Chef is creative and the staff are well trained while still being friendly. I always feel like I am in Chef Gary’s home kitchen.

One of the most remarkable dinners we’ve ever had. This was for my wife’s birthday and there were supposed to be others coming that night. However, possibly because it was right after New Year’s, it was just us! The chef was charming nevertheless, as were his two assistants and didn’t act any differently. So here we were with one of the best chefs in town preparing our dinner as if he was doing so in our own home. The food was exceptional and all three were attentive, very focused on food preparation and presentation and a thrill to watch. You have to go—the setting is unique (looks like the counter in an old style drug store) and the food is spectacular.

I appreciate the effort in making a menu from so many ingredients, but it simply isn't substantive. Disappointed, and at a $1000+ total for two, could have had 3 outstanding meals at area fine dining restaurants, without feeling ripped off with a 500% markup for a modest glass of wine.

Looking for the best vegetarian experience in California, this is the place. Chef Gary Menes with his 28 years of experience and 2 Michelin stars (1 in each 2019 and 2021) needs no approval. The wine pairing from Jonathan was exquisite and it felt like the notes of the wine were playing music in my mouth. I couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate my 1st wedding anniversary. Thank you so much the team of Le Comptoir!!

My 2nd visit to this very special gastronomic experience this year. The courses were paired perfectly with the wines. My first Alba truffle of the season. Intimate dining experience, the sense is that the Chef and his staff are cooking for you exclusively. Much deserved Michelin Star. Very enjoyable dining experience.

Really and absolutely overpriced!. 4 out of 8 courses have an additional cost. And the menu "basic" cost is already too high. Absolutely everything you may ask or need has an additional charge, and the final bill is crazy high. The food is ok, but not amazing, except for the wagyu that, of course, has a $ 65 dollars extra charge. I do not recommend the experience at all.

We had a great night celebrating our anniversary at Le Comptoir. We were seated about 20 min later than scheduled time. There were only 6 people in the restaurant so it was intimate. Service was top notch and the food outstanding. The chef, and his assistants put on a show and watching everything right in front of us was fascinating. It is very pricey for what you get but for a special occasion and for the experience it was worth it. The only thing that was not great was the charge for a glass wine which cost $35 for one glass. Imagine our shock to see $70 fee for 2 glasses. Overall, it’s the type of place you go only once but I would highly recommend.
