Le Central is a French bistro, focusing on modern interpretations of classic dishes featuring local products from Sakonnet Lobsters, Four Town Farm (Seekonk, MA), Walker's Farm (Barrington, RI), Scott the Bassman, and Little Rhody Eggs (Foster, RI). Low lighting, checkerboard floor tiling, glass tabletops, and French nu-Jazz provide an intimate yet warm and familiar atmosphere. Chef-owner Jesse James spent his early career in Boston, working with chefs Moncef Meddeb at L'Espalier and Jasper White at Jasper's, with further experience at other landmark restaurants in New York, France, and Italy. Le Central is the third restaurant he has designed, built, and operated, after Aperto (Est 1992) and Boca Rotis (Est 1997), both in San Francisco. The large painting by Inez Storer on the south wall of the restaurant (which also serves as our logo) is of Jesse's son, Sam (the current General Manager & Beverage Director), and his childhood dog, Skye. Inez wouldn't say who the guy in the chair is.

I recommend this place highly. They pulled out all the stops for Mother’s Day and made it very special. The service was very attentive without being intrusive, and the food was very good. The cream of cauliflower soup, a first for me, was delicious.

A rarity around here, someone in the kitchen loves tradition and respects and loves cooking for neighbors. Elegantly simple, just so pleasing to dine there.

This was an absolute gem for brunch and we will be back! My only critique would be to not serve a side salad if it is not fresh. Some of the lettuce was quite wilted. Maybe serve a different side dish if fresh vegetables aren't available. But otherwise, we really enjoyed our meal and the staff.

Le Central is always excellent. They gladly did a swap-out on the side that came with the special and the portions were enough for a doggie bag, yum, twice the pleasure to have a little of their special duck the next day. Every time I eat here I promise myself I will come back more often--we have so many good restaurants in the Bristol/Warren area, but Le Central deserves many repeats. Bring back the Moules Frites!!

We'd love to have Moules Frites all the time, but we only work with one fisherman because of the exceptional quality of his seafood, and he only harvests mussels sporadically. Sunday brunch was outstanding. The popovers are to die for so order them as soon as you sit down in case they are running low. The hamburger, which I consider the best in the area, did not disappoint and the omelets were perfectly cooked.

Went for brunch. Food was very good, but it is gluten free. Not everyone is used to gluten free,but they do a really good job! Excellent service, nice ambiance!

Just to clarify for next time, our menus are not specifically gluten-free; I'm supposing you saw the Buttermilk-Almond Waffle and Polenta-Crusted Quiche on our Easter menu that were blatantly noted to be gluten-free so that guests with that dietary restriction would be able to order dishes that would usually be off-limits to them. We're all for accommodating without compromise, but we do love our breads, pastas, and desserts! Best, Sam (GM)

Your server recalls that she checked in shortly after your entrees were brought out, and pressed for feedback when she cleared away your steak unfinished, but was never given the impression that that there was anything wrong. Good service but food overall too oily/greasy for our taste. Also, surprised with coffee served in regular coffee cups WITHOUT saucers! In this “French bistro”, we expected fresher food and decorum.

We regret to hear that our tableware didn't meet your expectations. We were fortunate enough, through the owner's and my own time in Michelin-starred restaurants, to have contacts at a French ceramic house, who helped tailor our tableware to elevate and modernize our space. They specifically don't want to evoke the feeling of a casual "café", and do not even offer saucers. Had we known the lack of such was so disturbing, we would have gladly provided a bread plate for you to use. -Sam (GM)

We regret to hear that you didn't enjoy you time here. Regarding the lamb, you insisted that it was raw when it was first brought over, and refused to believe your server's assurance that it wasn't. When cooked further, you complained that it was now too fatty (lamb shoulder is always a desirably fatty cut). Although it was prepared properly the first time, we still removed it from the bill. The other guest completely finished their meal, so we had no reason to suspect anything else was wrong.

What an incredible dinner we experienced at Le Central last evening. From start to finish it was perfect. Appetizers of Lobster Bisque and Endive and Roasted Beets was a great way to start. My husband had the Lamb Shoulder and I had the Salmon Nicoise. Both were delicious, I would not have changed one thing. We did not think we could do dessert, but could not pass up homemade Maple Walnut Ice Cream ("the best maple walnut" my husband has ever had!) and Lemon Ricotta Crepes. Just a lovely evening. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Location was perfect. Restaurant was quiet and lovely, it has a relaxed ambiance that makes eating here even more pleasurable. Looking forward to our next visit.

This was a celebration dinner so we chose to come here again. The waitress was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and she was there whenever we needed her. The food was pretty good; I had the cod chowder which was delicious. My wife had the steak frites. It was well seasoned, etc. but she asked for somewhere between medium and medium rare, and it came out really rare and was almost cold in the middle. It was a good cut of meat so we took it home to reuse. We had dessert and it was excellent.

The food was wonderful according to my ten guests, some of whom are quite sophisticated in their tastes and experiences with fine dining. The service was also exceptional. Overall, a wonderful evening.

Delicious food and great choices. I really liked the dessert choice of a piece of dark chocolate with cranberry and almond. Just a little sweet after a delicious meal!

Overall good, disappointed with parts of the meal and service was not personable . Music was not appropriate for setting. When mentioned to wait staff about the saltiness of different components of the meal she said she would pass the information on to the chef. We never heard any response back or apology . We will probably not return for a prix fixe 100 .00 per person meal. We expected more from an established restaurant.

The waitress was great as was all the staff. I hadn’t realized it was a fixed menu for New Year’s Eve. The price for 2 dinners and 2 glasses of wine was $275 with tip. The food was good but it was not $135 per person good! Meal included an app, entree and dessert. Portion sizes were modest. Disappointed that they jacked up the price significantly over their regular prices for New Years Eve.

We regret to hear that you were unaware of our NYE prix fixe going into the evening, and apologise if there was any miscommunication. Prices, while higher than our typical a la carte menu, reflected the cost of the special ingredients we brought in just for that night, as well as providing the opportunity for our clientele to have a stress-free holiday out on the town.
