A disappointing dining experience. The staff were very unwelcoming. We were initially sat downstairs in a cellar room which only had one other table with diners. It felt depressing so we asked to be moved. After a few minutes we were seated in the main dining area. Initially we felt that the staff were treating us with indifference because we had asked to be moved but they appeared to be treating the majority of customers this way. The food felt average, maybe this was because we were not enjoying our dining experience due to the unwelcoming staff. I could not recommend this restaurant as there are so many more in Bologna that not only serve excellent food but also have friendly staff providing good service.

We had dined here a year ago and had, had a lovely experience. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive and the food was delicious. We were really looking forward to our return. We arrived a little early but were told our table was ready. Instead of sitting upstairs, as we had been last year we were taken down the stairs where a table was placed on a landing with people sat having a drink. They were ushered away, further down the stairs to the basement dining area where their table was located. We waited while our table was re-laid. This table was completely isolated from all the others either upstairs or further downstairs. Once sat down we realised not only were we sat next to a noisy air conditioning unit but also next to the entrance to the toilet. As our experience the previous year was so good we thought we’d persevere and asked the waiter for a wine list which he gave us. He looked flustered and his sweat dropped on to our table cloth. We then waited around 10 minutes and no one came to take our drinks order. When the waiter finally turned up we asked if we could move tables. A waitress turned up and we explained the noisy air conditioner and proximity to the toilets and with real arrogance she said it was this table or nothing and walked off. We decided to leave and the owner stopped us. We explained our situation and we got the same arrogant manner showing us the door. Very disappointing.

Locale molto particolare che sa di casa come il cibo delizioso. Il proprietario e lo staff gentilissimi. Torneremo sicuramente.

The menu of standard Bolognese recipes varies a bit but the aim at Roberto's is to offer a consistent, cozy charm with good service and predictable delights. Both rooms, front and back, have their own qualities; this is a restaurant for conversations or, if you are alone, not to feel alone. Location could not be better.

Great traditional Italian, with fab interiors and really helpful staff. Food was delicious and we were very well looked after. Highly recommend

Great find. Had dinner with friends here the week before and liked it so much we went back. Cosy, good food, nice staff.

One of our top picks in Bologna. Beautiful setting for a wonderful dinner. Welcoming staff and delicious food. We enjoyed everything about this restaurant. Highly recommend for couples or families with excellent food and service.

Ho mangiato un buon piatto di tagliatelle al ragù con un buon calice (abbondante) di san giovese che mi hanno molto soddisfatto. Il personale è anche stato molto gentile nel trovare un tavolo all'interno invece che all'esterno. Io consiglio questo locale.

Food was authentic and delicious! We were seated outside and the surroundings was a construction site. Inside the restaurant was very nice! Overall a very good experience- I would like to come back! A hidden gem!

I really enjoyed my meal and the welcoming manager; however, wouldn't recommend for solo diners. The manager was super kind and spoke English. The menu had lots of amazing traditional dishes. I enjoyed the tagliatelle with ragu and the cheese plate. However, I wouldn't recommend for solo travelers. I've been traveling and dining solo for over 4 years. It's something I genuinely enjoy - a moment to pause and just enjoy good food after a long day exploring. However, this is one of the places where I felt least comfortable dining solo. I was ready to enjoy my delicious food in peace; however, the waiter seemed really uncomfortable with the fact that I was dining alone. There were repeated questions about who was joining me even though I specifically made an Open Table reservation for one, and the infamous 'pity look.' Best to keep this restaurant for a dinner with friends or partner.

After checking many online references to find a restaurant that was 1. Open on Christmas and 2. Would take a reservation for a party of 8, I landed on this place, made an online reservation and felt relieved that my family would have Christmas lunch together. We walked past in the morning so we’d know where we were going then arrived at the time of our reservation. They were closed. I called. No answer. We were left to wander the streets in search of a restaurant that would take 8 of us. Ultimately we had to divide up and not eat together on Christmas. I received a confirmation of my reservation from Open Table and many reminders. I don’t know where communication broke down: Taverna di Roberto or Open Table? This is a significant F-up. When traveling at Christmas, dinner is an important focal point. We were disappointed to say the least.

The manager had the table set up in a great location for our group’s celebration. He greeted us promptly as we each came in with sparking water and Prosecco. The restaurant worked with those in the group with allergies and delivered excellent dinners for each of us. The waiter spoke English well and was quite attentive. The atmosphere and wine choices were also outstanding.

Wonderful food. And wonderful ambience. Only "suggestion" for Roberto is that he needs help!! It was clear at multiple points that the experience of dining there is being sacrificed by not having enough staff to help... - in first approaching Roberto, his demeanor was not the friendliest...but now we know it is because he was already stressed before even the restaurant filled up...as the night went on, he actually became quite a friendly host - took a while at times to order something (even as simple as water) because Roberto and the other waiter were always running around...not able to give attention to the tables. had to ask for the wine 3 times... they forgot my main course (which came and I ate after everyone else finished) - people waiting in line for 1+ hours to sit... which took that long because people at the table were not getting served efficiently. Yes, i would definitely recommend this place...But hoping he gets more staff to help. It would be a shame to see customers stay away simple because of this one thing.
